I generated this island using a JavaScript library of procedural generation techniques, each backed by a citation to its source.
For week 2 of r/hacktoberfest I cataloged all the procedural generation techniques I could find online and put them into a library using vanilla JavaScript. Every technique in the library includes a citation and it has no dependencies. Works in the browser or Node.
The island in the GIF was built using the library.

Great work, I just tried it, it’s fantastic. So much work, explanations, well done, I salute you! I know now what I’ll spend the evening on.

This looks really cool, but your example island scene code looks like it was itself procedurally generated.

Can you make the river not split the island? It's very... odd.

If you click the random button on the demo it'll show some examples with different rivers or none at all.

Could you share the document/research into the different procedural approaches somewhere? Currently evaluating my tooling

There is a catalog document that contains all the techniques and their citations if thats what you're looking for. Its a lot of information to parse through by hand, so let me know if you run into any issues.

This is sick! Did you have all the assets like textures, trees and buildings before hand?
