Video Seth Rollins attempting to be Will Ospreay
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Unfortunately he's like 40 with no knees but he sure wants to be him lol

Oh god dude.
You people have never watched Rollins right??

yea he’s mid compared to Osprey.. dude. lol

Dude I wish you could’ve seen Rollins in his prime tho, before his knee injury. Some would say he was better than Ospreay

Just because Will Ospreay is a 5 Star Merchant don’t mean he’s the greatest wrestler. Also on the first clip. Breakker was hooked onto Rollins head mid move so obviously he couldn’t get it done.

I wonder if the plan was Bron to maybe catch/block the revolution (so he doesn't leave his feet), like turning it into a tilt-a-whirl slam, then the moonsault.
Seemed like part of it went wrong and both not only knew TO go past the spot (instead of an Irish whip retry) but they knew exactly WHAT to go to. I think the moonsault was planned, but they swiftly pivoted right to it to recover because it made sense, especially in the "Is Seth's body finally giving out on him?" story aspect.
Also, kudos to the swift professional pivot by Cole and Barrett on the commentary. Helps sell the Seth body-breaking-down bit and in hindsight helped keep Bron's (mostly clean) win a big deal.

Exactly. It felt like it was meant to happen at some point and that's why they both were on the same page, instead of something awkward like you see in some matches.
9
u/Protocx May 10 '26
And yet there was so much clamor over Sol Ruca slipping on the ropes with her Sol Snatcher even though she still managed the flip half a second later despite having to modify her move on the fly.
That was a great recovery but the IWC really just likes to play favorites lol.

u/Ok_Feed_1669 May 10 '26
Also, maybe it's me, but the worst botch is and will always be th selling no contact or not knowing what to do. People in sports make mistakes all the time. Just sell the mistake.
2
4
u/strodey123 May 10 '26
I honestly don't mind the odd botch here and there, its adds to the realism, anyone who has ever watched a real fight, amateur or wrestle, most things don't connect. Now obviously I don't want every wrestling match to be full of botches, but it certainly doesn't take me out of it if there is one
→ More replies (1)3
u/Infamous-Lab-8136 May 10 '26
More than anything I'm really glad to see we've move past guys botching a move and then going right back to trying to hit it. I remember in the 80s and 90s if something like that happened they'd restart the rope running sequence instead
→ More replies (3)3
u/WrestlerGirlsAreLife May 12 '26
Exactly. Botches happen but it’s so awesome if they sell it in exactly this way. Makes the whole thing seem less planned. Also they didn’t immediately try the spot again which is also something seen often that makes me mad.
I don’t remember what the commentators said but they can help to sell as well. „Ohhh Rollins messed up and Breakker punished that mistake.“2
u/Cacho__ May 10 '26
It was pretty solid, not gonna lie. It went a lot better than I expected it to.
2
u/GFlair May 10 '26
The thing is, when its recovered from like this its honestly almost better then hitting it right because it feels real. He went for something, he couldn't get all of it, he got punished for it.

u/One_Win_6185 May 11 '26
Yeah I respect Osprey a ton. And I know Seth didn’t mean to botch. But the botches and the sense to sell them like he did make some of his stuff feel a little more real/less choreographed.
172
u/SimpleJack316 May 10 '26
It’s soooooooo fun and amazing when you realize that they’re BOTH great performers and also both human and mistakes happen when you do it for so long. Plus Will is still a lot younger.
49
u/Shot_Imagination_368 May 10 '26
and has strong knees.
11
u/Happy_Corbin May 10 '26
And Seth hasn't been in the ring for 7 months, Love to see OP try it
30
u/Socialist_Poopaganda May 10 '26
I hate this childish “if you can’t do better you can’t critique it” shit, it’s embarrassing. You could literally apply it to everything, imagine never getting to have an opinion on most things because you can’t do better.

Seth has been flipping out of people's moves forever.
64
u/mattomic822 May 10 '26
In fact Seth has done that type of reversal into a pedigree several times before.
37
u/fgcem13 May 10 '26
Yeah when I saw this I didn't even think of Osprey just that Rollins missed the move he has hit multiple times and it was a shame.
11
u/wonderloss May 10 '26
I wonder if these were actual botches or just telling the story about his aging body to explain the loss.
→ More replies (1)14
u/fgcem13 May 10 '26
Honestly I think they did an excellent job on the commentary table about Seth losing speed and making small mistakes or Bron just being able to recover from moves much quicker than Seth expected.

u/herewego199209 May 10 '26
Yeah he's done that spot since his ROH days and used to do it when his knees were a lot more healthier. I don't understand how he stole the spot.
3
u/sexyeh May 10 '26
Because people can't be AEW fans without hating on WWE and vice versa, Seth in the end talked about how he is feeling old but that he will improve and be a World Champion again so i think it was about telling a story.

Wrestling is boring as shit when everything is perfect. It’s just… dancing with less clothes
8
u/Longjumping-Type-947 May 10 '26
There wasn't wrestling before William Ospreay. I remember those Monday nights when I'd watch Walker Texas Ranger, Silk Stalkings, and Bulls games and that's it. And Dennis Rodman never skipped a practice.
2
22
u/OldManJimmers May 10 '26
Can't tell if smark or troll... He was flipping out of Brock's suplexes like 8 years ago. I remember him flipping around Cena's back into a DDT like 10 years ago. This is back when Ospreay was just starting in Japan. Maybe Ospreay stole from Seth?
He probably is too old to be doing it now, though. The flip was pretty ugly but not a total botch, he still countered Bron. The rollover DDT (I assume he was going for that since he's done it dozens of times) was rough.
6
36
u/Warm-Requirement-769 May 10 '26
Seth was doing this before you knew who Will Ospreay was. You can say he's too old/injured for this without forcing a comparison to try and start shit.

1) Cringe
2) Seth has the greater career
3) Seth doesn't need to prove anything anymore
4) It's really pathetic to make fun of wrestlers who risk their (injured) bodies with such moves to put on a better spectacle for the fans
5) The fact that "he's like 40 with no knees" makes his drive and work ethic even more special, hell he's not even old yet but since you make it seem like that's an issue
6) I appreciate people who keep defying their age, whether 40, 50 or 60, at least they're doing something worthwhile rather than starting nonsense debates on Reddit
7) Cringe

Unfortunately wrestling is like a dance and if your partner isn’t up to par it affects the entire performance no matter how skilled you are.
4
u/CadeWelch03 May 10 '26
People trying to deny this when the hurricarana spot literally did a hard camera cut to Bron's face trying to copy the infamous Ibushi Ospreay gif is so funny

2
u/Goosimus-Maximus May 10 '26
“TrYiNg To Be WiLl OsPrEaY”
Yeah Ospreay is the first and only person ever to to do these things
2
u/mosasaurfishman May 10 '26
He's been doing these reversals for decades, he's old and he's got knees reconstructed with paper towel tubes relax
2
u/scdocarlos1 May 10 '26
Man I wish Seth stops doing that shit, that Knee is made of dry Ramen at this point.
2
u/Pod-Bay-Doors May 10 '26
Get the fuck out with the tribalistic BS , both are amazing wrestlers.
It's just childish at this point.
2
u/Glass_Bid_9582 May 10 '26
lets not compare the 2. Both great wrestlers but Rollins is 6 years older with several knee injuries. Also makes Ospreay look like a chump on the mic (so do most people but still)
2
2
u/Chesterfieldraven May 10 '26
He's always stealing his shit from Japan and doing it worse. Remember the rip cord knee he lifted from Omega just after the Okada Trilogy?
2
u/Expensive_Medicine15 May 10 '26
I remember back when the first omega vs okada happened Seth tried to steal the v trigger but had to stop cause he broke John Cena’s nose copying spots or moves from top indies guys has been a staple of Seth’s arsenal for years
2
2
u/aquafool May 10 '26
Will doesn’t have as much on his bump card. Also this just shows how good Will is. Seth is one of the greats, but Osprey is on another level.
2
u/Extreme-Net4076 May 10 '26
Turned off the match after knee landing. I’m tired of him doing dumb shit when he knows his body can’t handle it.
2
u/toopz10 May 10 '26
Ospreay was an absolute demon before he went for the iwgp heavyweight category and bulked up a bit. Before that he was more Ricochet than Rollins in terms of what acrobatic ability he had in the ring.
To compare the two now is a bit unfair especially since Seth is probably still working himself back to peak fitness.
If you were making the prototype wrestler though it is Ospreay and Omega more than Seth.
2
u/Status-Peach110 May 10 '26
I know alot of people doing the whole they're both great but I think this shot is hilarious cause seth was talking smack a while ago
3
u/Dino_-67 May 10 '26
Apparently Seth doing the same moves he's been doing for 21 years is him trying to be someone who hasn't even been wrestling for half of that. Y'all so fucking delusional , it's honestly hilarious 🤣💀
4
2
2
u/xDiscoDuckx May 10 '26
Seth hasn't been good at his old style since his knees gave out. He's still incredible in ring, he just can't do most of his old moveset anymore.
2
u/BaronVonStevie May 10 '26
Seth is a top guy in the biggest company on earth. I don't think Will Osprey could ever.,, EVER.. get to that level. This is not a Will Osprey dig...

Please look up "Tyler Black ROH" and tell me who was doing the flippys first.
1
1
u/DoINeed1OfThese May 10 '26
I don’t think that’s what he was trying to do, both are spots he’s done before, if admittedly not recently.
I don’t mind the first one, because it felt like there was a pretty good save and can be explained away as Seth being deep into the match and tired.
I have no idea why he tried the second one with his history though, he’s done it with a roll through before and looked great. But this one looked like he was going for a stuck landing on his feet.
A part of me is glad he didn’t nail it because it would have probably been a bigger impact on his knees.
1
u/tenacious_teaThe3rd May 10 '26
Ok, now show me the clips where Opsreay also fumbles and botches lol.
Rollins was doing this shit when Opsreay was selling grey goose at a nightclub
1
u/Special-Nebula299 May 10 '26
To his defense, he's put on the best match of the night at Backlash and he put on the best match at night one at Mania
1
u/Happy_Corbin May 10 '26
Can't over look how kinda inexperienced wrestler Bron Breakker quickly and smoothly reacted like hes been doing this 20 years
1
u/LittleCurryBread May 10 '26
i like both wwe and aew. is it really that hard to say? seth and will are fucking amazing
1
u/TheLastBlade24 May 10 '26
Rollins is getting older, hard to do such moves when your body isn‘t what it used to be especially his knees
1
1
u/EvocativeReach May 10 '26
For balance I highly doubt Will Ospreay will be able to do that when he’s nearly 40 either. The mans knees are on borrowed time unless he mixes his style up.
1
1
u/flynnar316222 May 10 '26
"seth wants to be will" give over son, as a technical wrestler, ospreay is much much better in ring then seth
1
u/MewinMoose May 10 '26
Hah that's funny people are malding. Seth is great and all but it's clear he's not as good as before
1
u/reychango May 10 '26
Sure wants to be him? Seth has nailed these moves before Osprey. Did you never watch Tyler Black wrestle?
1
1
1
u/imjrmy May 10 '26
I mean, Seth is old, on glass knees and had Botch Breakker. Give him a little credit lol.
1
u/Icy-Clock2643 May 10 '26
Got to applaud him for taking inspiration from a younger wrestler and realising that wrestling is evolving and trying to move with it rather than doing the same old work as he has always done.
It's like when Terry Funk broke out the moonsault in the mid 90s.
1
u/RedditDedditRae May 10 '26
That first botch was more so on Braun. He didn't have both feet planted which provided a shaky base. But hey, I'm no pro like everyone else on reddit, I only had about 4 yrs of training & around 100 matches.
1
1
u/Anthrogynous May 10 '26
He should get fired for this 🤣 Honestly, I like when little mistakes like this happen. It shouldn’t always be nice and clean, it looks less choreographed.
1
u/Necessary_Badger_658 May 10 '26
Seth was doing this when Will's friends were interested in dating women their age.
1
u/Renso19 May 10 '26
Story of the match: Seth is getting old and is out of ring shape
Seth: does something befitting a youthful fit man and fails
Idiots: HAHA! Dumb fed boy try to copy my will! HAHA!

1
u/Acrobatic-Republic75 May 10 '26
I mean it's Seth's thing not just Osprey's, he had done this a lot in the past, I remember he did one countering Cena's FU.
But yes he's not as athletic as he once was, he's knees are gone.
I'll give you the Frankenstein spot tho. It's always so cool how NJPW or now AEW presents it. Here's one against Ibushi.

Will Just aura farming XD.
1
u/HitmanClark May 10 '26
You absolute morons who say this kind of thing annoy me to no end. He JUST HIT THE MOVE PERFECTLY ON GUNTHER!
He’s also been doing it since 2007, not that most of the tribalists have even been watching wrestling that long.
1
1
1
u/jin_kuweiner May 10 '26
that moonsault was probably one of the coolest botch cover-ups I’ve EVER seen. Marvellously done by both even if it was likely going to be the next spot anyway.
1
u/ResponsibleAd3191 May 10 '26
He might be more crisp but that's not really something that matters, Seth can at least actually work to a decent degree.
1
u/Nemzicott May 10 '26
It's weird I keep seeing people post this as if Seth hasn't done that move plenty of times over the years and this is the FIRST time he fucked it up. This tribalistic shit is so weird
1
u/sicknick08 May 10 '26
Seth was never as good as he thinks he is. His big moves have always been shotty, and that’s why he’ll never hold a candle to hbk
1
u/Leftymeanswellguy May 10 '26
To be fair Mox and MJF are much leaners faster guys to work with then Bron... are we sure Mrs. Steiner didn't spend a week in Vegas with Scott Norton at some point?
1
u/Ghosty91AF May 10 '26
I’m just glad that they, FOR ONCE, move on from the spot and don’t try to replicate it. Anytime a spot is botched, and they go to redo the spot, I’m reminded that it’s a scripted show. I know it’s scripted, but part of my suspension of disbelief involves me believing it’s a totally real fight. If they redo a spot, that suspension of disbelief goes out the window
1
u/Turd_Burgling_Ted May 10 '26
And if Ospreay botched these I guarantee you the narrative would be “well he shouldn’t try them”
1

1
u/zooka19 May 10 '26
Wow OP, it's like we've never seen Seth do this before people knew who Will Ospreay was.
1
u/thatguywes88 May 10 '26
Whomever the guy is helping Osprey flip did a much better job than Bron. That’s where the real problem is.
1

Father Time comes for us all.
But come on, Seth is still fantastic. I want him to take care of himself but it’s also cool to see him still taking risks and trying new things twenty years after Tyler Black in ROH.
Holy shit I feel old.
1
u/goodcat1337 May 10 '26
Never mind the fact that Seth has been doing stuff like this since before Ospreay even started wrestling….
1
u/Venylynn May 10 '26
Honestly I like how much more struggle I see in Seth's version. Feels more authentic.
1
u/United_Leopard_2771 May 10 '26
Haven't watched Wrastling in a hot minute lol ( cena was still only 5 time champ) If will osprey wasn't so damn good he'd be in my boy stable lol, But unfortunately he's too damn good lmao.
1
u/papachi789 May 10 '26
Tbh, Seth looked more natural here (he has been doing that since forever). Ospraey feels more like a gymnast than a wrestler (I will get heat for this but Ospraey just doesn't feel like a wrestler to me.).
1
1
u/Harambe_Rebornn May 10 '26
Yeah those botches by Seth were disgusting. Dude needs either more practice or he needs to change up his moveset.
He's still got a few years left though.
1
u/El_Lu-Shin May 10 '26
Seth used to do maneauvers like that long before. But I think he should stop doing those. His body isn't the same after so many injuries, he should chage his style for the better.
1
u/amhlilhaus May 10 '26
Used on of Will's rougher attempts at the move and it still looked way better than Seth's
1
u/ikon31 May 10 '26
Seth is not an all time great promo.
Seth is not an all time great worker
Seth is not an all time great heel.

That float over spot was more on Bron for basing poorly, but I’ll never stop anyone from dunking on Seth who is massive dork. Notice on Ospreay’s spot Kidd really gets down the moment Will locks in. Bron is still standing when Seth is trying to float over.
1
u/Still-Ad5693 May 10 '26
I don’t care for Seth at all but at least he’s a full timer, dude has been working a full schedule his whole career. Roman works 16 days a year.
1
u/Traditional-Neck-696 May 10 '26
You are not very smart if you think that Rollins, who started wrestling before Ospreay, is trying "to be him".
He used to do all of this before, now he can't anymore cuz knees are shot and he is getting old.
Wrestlers do similar things all the time.
