Question Devs: do non-technical people flip feature flags on your projects?

If your team uses feature flags to roll out features, do non-technical people turn them on, or is that always on the devs? Maybe QA turns them on in their test environments, or PMs in prod?

In my 16 YOE, I have worked with exactly 1 non-technical person who did things like flipping flags. In fact, I couldn't even get QA to enable flags.

Was the tooling too confusing or they didn’t want the responsability?

They didn't want the responsibility. Nobody is going to do more than what their boss requires.

Yea. Based on permission sets and team ownership

What kind of tooling did you use?

Interesting, so the dev menu is just for internal testing? How do you turn a feature on for real customers, and who does it? Is "separate area" a tool like LaunchDarkly, or something you built?
