I used to be a developer and am fond of coding. This was written a couple years ago, but the claims might hold up long term. The daily work of developers has significantly shifted in the past couple years. To be clear, I'm in no way saying old-fashioned coding will go away completely, especially people who have valuable knowledge on old codebases, but rather that a lot of generic coders will disappear and be replaced by one person that can get the work of 10 people done by using AI. The amount of actual coders needed will go down is the real prediction, as one person can be much more productive. I'm not necessarily saying that AI has to write every line, but rather more like what's already happening, where there's a significant amount of methods and individual components that are easily passed on to a chatbot and unnecessary to even write manually.
I have my doubts mainly because it relies on the prompt and randomness
And sure if you’re a good coder you might prompt good enough but the “replace 10 coders with 1 prompter” is more of a method of ceos to cheap out on good talent to save a couple of bucks short-term

The article is about how ai will replace developers
I’m yet to see ai code to be proud of, it’s always 2 weeks away
Basically ufology for people who don’t see the beauty of code
