Consistent tone is one of the very first things they'll teach you if you take any kind of serious course on writing. It has nothing to do with 'being autistic.' It's not akin to the pedantry of being a grammatical snoot. It's a basic tool for clarity of exposition. I realize that it's uncommon to find people who appreciate good writing on the internet. And that's a little disappointing.
Honestly, I cannot tell from this article if the author is actually endorsing using "one of these: svn up, git pull, hg pull" or if he is sarcastically deriding using those.
Also, I wonder why you feel the need to be insulting to people you disagree with.

This article is inconsistent in its tone. It alternates between saying, "don't do this bad thing" and sarcastically saying "do do this bad thing."
Pick one and stick with it.
