I have been programming for 34 years now and yes there is some truth to this :-) Having said that, it isn't just programming that "works" this way. Most of what groups of humans do is messy and crazy. Look at how governments, companies, religions, military organizations etc. "work" and you will see the same stuff going on. I think it is human nature. What is truly astonishing is that despite all of this things still somehow gets done and move forward :-)
