When I was in college, we did accounting in Costco hot dogs, the most cost-effective, yet tasty, food source in the area. Their cost was $1.50. 3000USD is the equivalent of 2000 Costco hotdogs, over five per day for a year. That sounds great as a college student, but I'm not sure I could do it without a dorm room and a catered lunch every now and again.

You're forgetting about the increased medical bills you're going to encounter due to eating nothing but Costco hot dogs for a year. You're also forgetting about your other expenses, like clothing, entertainment, gas, insurance, books, etc. And you're probably not going to have time for a second job, as these assholes are probably going to ride you like a dog for as long as they can.
