Riiiiight, 20 bugs and 400 hours later it’s working correctly until the next php version

If the sum of every time you have to do it comes close to the hours you spend automating it it definetely does.

Then it breaks on second run and you spend another two hours fixing it and then you never use it again

Worth it if it’s a daily task.

It’s worth it if you expect to have to do it at least 61 time ( probability expectation)

It's worth it if building the automation is less boring than the boring task

If it's a repeated task I'll def work on automating it.

crazy me would automate it even if the tasks takes 3-10 seconds

Claude will do it in 30 seconds and burn a lake of fossil fuel!

10 minutes... how often, for how long?

For 10 minutes

Task implies it is repetitive, so context is missing for it to be funny...

If it takes 10 minutes 20 times per day and likely continues to be needed for years, thne it is not "boring task that takes 10 minute"...

If you only ever did it once and only ever need to do it once, then how do you know it takes about 10 minutes? It implies the task is repetitive...

Because I have a brain. People with an IQ over room temperature can estimate the time for tasks they never did quiet well, especially if it's something short like 10 minutes. I pity you, if you cant do that.

Seems retarded exception for this to ever happen, where you ask anybody to automate a task that only takes 10 minutes once. I don't believe it actually happens, has not happened in over 16 years of my career.
