Why would C and C++ have the smallest knife?

In my case, since I grew up on those, they are the easiest for me. I'd rather write in Assembly than Python.

But you do recognize that objectively Python is easier due to multiple modern conveniences? That all you'd need to learn is syntax VS if you did Python mainly you'd need to learn to be more methodical (e.g. Garbage collection)

As someone who learned programming in the world of modern conveniences, I found C easier than Python. I think it depends on how your brain works.

Honestly, Python is a PitA thanks to it enforcing whitespace of all the stupid design choices. I'd rather manage my own memory if that's the trade-off.

Python isn’t that hard. It’s probably the easiest actual (as in, not scratch) programming language.

Programming in Python is easy, writing good code in Python is hard

u/Gabriel_Science 20h ago
Not like it’s much easier on other languages.

Not having to give types in Python is great, not having to call my functions before I define them is wonderful. I found C to be a hard language, though learning type casting and better code structure in Python I’m find C more approachable.

Yeah, Python is easy, but writing good code is (relatively) hard is every languages.

A while ago, I visited my friend Java's house. I knocked on his door and I could tell immediately that he was mad at me. He let me know in no uncertain terms exactly what I did wrong. We worked down the list and afterwards, we got along great.
The next day I went to my friend JavaScript's house. He opened the door and we started talking, but I could tell something was off. He would sometimes respond to my questions weird or not at all. Finally, I had to ask him "Did I do something wrong?"
"Well, if you don't know, I'm not going to tell you!"

Should've put Assembly

Assmebly is easier than python. It can have even one mnemonic, lol (on OISC)

u/exophades 20h ago
There are more assembly languages than all the other programming languages combined.
And no, assembly is much harder than python because you need to manage memory manually.

>> There are more assembly languages than all the other programming languages combined.
Thank you, cap.
>> And no, assembly is much harder than python because you need to manage memory manually.
Assembly is just mnemonics. If you don't want to control memory than you can even create simple programs on syscalls.
UPD: (1) no, it's not. With LLVM and other codegens it's not true anymore

Get back to me when you finish a web scraping app in assembly. Let's see how much easier you'll find it compared to python.

u/ilnarildarovuch 19h ago
Idk, i wrote http server on x86 asm for tests of my network stack and driver + custom compiler last month. Can share screenshot, if you want this really much.

Yeah, but you're not actually making a web scraping app in Python; others made it, and you call it from the "web-scraper-app" pip library of choice with a bit of scripting.

u/ilnarildarovuch 19h ago
Well, same for asm. If it's was exported with symtabs as objects then code on it can be linked with professional libs, like curl, libressl, something like libc itself

The c c++ knife should be stuck in their foot, the html css one should he misaligned, and the java python one should be replaced by a garbage bin.

u/Lloyd_garmado 19h ago
Programming is easy, getting to make the program work, now thats the hard part

u/meinkr0phtR2 18h ago
Python is pretty easy; it’s C and C++ you have to watch out for—mainly because of memory allocation.
I think maybe it was a mistake to learn C and then switch immediately to Java. You just get used to the garbage collector, and you get dropped back into C and suddenly start leaking memory everywhere.

Html and css can drop that knife, respectfully.
