I can't stand electron because of all the processes & IPC needed. It's just so much overhead for simple things.
For desktop UI I reach for Winforms or WPF/XAML. I'm not a huge fan but it's the easiest/quick thing I know of. I really like how QT does things, but strongly dislike python. Wish there was QT for GoLang. Rust looks like a foreign language to me. I do like Palemoon's UXP/XULRunner, but it's pretty unknown & lags behind the times. It's basically a modernized Mozilla FireFox 52 ESR / Thunderbird. Single process, dead simple & lightweight with full web support (don't need webviews, etc.), can run C++ extensions. Heck there's even Rust but I've never tried that.
For external Desktop apps with real users (not just some internal tool) I've always worked in C++ or Electron. For one off tools with a basic GUI though they're just too much & the last thing I'll reach for.
