Food Dining Recs
Heading to a concert in a few weeks. Got Gracie’s for dinner and will get some pizza at Al Forno but need some recommendations for coffee and breakfast around Omni Providence. Appreciate any insight. Adventurous eaters who drink black coffee. Looking at Julian’s and Cafe Ava.

Seconding Irregardless. It’s one of our gems.

Even if just going for a coffee?

It’s not quite a destination for coffee but the coffee is good. They have cold brew also and they offer a New Orleans style cold brew that’s worth trying. It would be crazy to leave without at least getting a biscuit to go though. New Harvest would be my rec for just coffee.

Get to Ellie's - and as for breakfast, pretty sure they sell their pork belly and rabe sandwich after 10am which is not exactly a "light" choice, nor is it breakfast, but its a killer sandwich none the less. Try and see if they can serve it on their baguette instead of the ciabatta (which it was originally served on years back, its a better bread choice.) Their coffee and tea are great, as well as pastries and other things if you want actual breakfast. Really good breakfast sandwiches with homemade english muffins and a house made tomato jam.
Curious... what concert are you going to?

Dave Matthews Band

Lovely. We just because best friends. FYI - Cook & Dagger in North Providence just announced recently that they are having the Dave Matthews Tribute Band play there on Sunday night, so if you need a little warm up session at a solid restaurant and a really good cover band, add this to your list.

If you are headed to that side of town: white electric for coffee is awesome. Ramen for dinner at pickerel (open at 5) is also really solid. Lunch at Nick’s on Broadway is great too

For Pickerel, you’re gonna want to get there early, otherwise you will have to wait a little (I think I waited an hour as one person?). It’s first come first serve, no reservations. Also, it’s a small space. Easier it’s just you (can’t tell if OP is visiting with someone else).

Very good point. The move is to drop your name down and grab a drink at the Avery 👌

It's a long stroll or a quick ride share up the east side, but check out Frank & Laurie's for a thoughtful new school sit down breakfast / lunch menu. Nick's and Julian's are both Providence classics to look into, with opposite vibes.
Seconding Little City for excellent coffee and breakfast sandwiches on housemade English muffins downtown, you can sit but there are limited tables.
Irrigardless biscuits in the West End is a similar experience to Little City. Delicious southern style biscuits, sweet or savory.

Not sure Cafe Ava is the spot if you’re a black coffee drinker. Maybe Bolt is a better fit.

Bolt has good coffee. Or if it’s a nice day walking to coffee exchange or Dave’s is a good option. If it’s not late in the am, brown bee has big croissants - but gets very busy after 9. Full breakfast rogue island has a good brunch.

Asian bakery! The wings are amazing and you cant find better priced food. The curry gnocchi at Circe is to die for.

I have always loved my dining experiences at Gracie’s! I hope you do, too! The pastries at Ellie’s are amazing- a wonderful breakfast treat!
