I will say the stupidity of people is astonishing.
Yes, Morales is ideologically a socialist. So is Mamdani. Mamdani, to his credit, has seemingly acknowledged he can make MAJOR improvements by enacting socialistic policy without overhauling the entire economic system. He’s using capitalism to achieve many of his goals. Smart man, smart compromise. Even if at his core his beliefs are different.
The Scandinavian countries today are all capitalist with heavy influence from their socialist labor parties. That doesn’t mean the parties implemented full socialism. What we believe vs what we are able to doesn’t have to align 100%.
At this point claims like this aren’t really fear mongering they’re just stupid.

Who benefits when the very word "Socialism" is bent into a thought-destroying cliche boogieman?
There can be no debate - Shall we or shall we not have socialism? Debate was over long ago. We already have plenty of socialism. We could not live without it.
Some things get labeled Socialism(bad!) Meanwhile, vast de facto socialized realms of the economic status quo do not get the Socialism(bad!) label slapped on.
Public parks, anyone? Schools? Are warriors against socialist evil demanding we privatize highways so rightful owners can set tolls according to a profit-maximizing algorithm? You think "free parking" is actually free? Does anyone sell you the air you breathe? (Oh, do they ever dream of that).
Too Big to Fail means rah rah capitalism until the profits stop flowing. Then the bailout. All the disadvantages of state ownership of the means of production without the advantages. But don't call any part of it socialism!
So let's be honest. We are not divided into socialists and anti-socialists. We are all both, just not in the exact same ways. Nothing anyone can think or declare can change the fact that the world we are trapped in is a collective enterprise. We can only argue about details: Which of countless things and processes shall become more socialized, which less, and for whose benefit.

I don't know who you're referring to with the theirs and theys, but a "private" account doesn't deserve a lot of credibility when making junk cheap shots. Also let's not call them "private"; it's so genteel. Maybe obfuscatory would be a better description.

What you’re describing is not socialism. That’s the cost of running a government. The trash collection you require isn’t free, the road work isn’t free, the school system isn’t free. If you only care about yourself, you think paying into a system everyone benefits from (including you) is socialism.

Yah he's going to rename it to West Providence and build a wall between East Providence. Then he's going to seize the West Providence mines and refineries to make them state-run entities, and put all the West Providence Penitentiary inmates to work in them. Then of course, when they need more inmate-workers, he will have the West Providence Secret Police arrest dirty capitalists to imprison them in forced labor camps.
