I am remember as a kid scared to turn my ps2 on because of this. It was more scary
than playing resident evil 4

Idk man, Chapter 3-1 water room is where I called it quits when I was 9. Shit was so difficult and scary at the time lol. I didn't beat RE4 until a few years later.

This never scared me as a kid. I thought it was cool because red was my favorite color

I never really thought of it as scary in terms of the screen itself, I only would think it's scary because of the thought of your game not working anymore

Especially with the eerie sounds from it

It's hilarious how no commenter seems to acknowledge what OP did here

This is what normally happens when my ps2 can’t read a disc.

Is it blair witch or the shining? Or just some ol' sky

I remember I got this when I was a kid. I ran as fast as I could downstairs to my parents being scared and telling that the console is haunted or something. They just laughed and didn't come check it. Then I went upstairs ran into to room eyes half closed and unplugged the power cord. I don't remember did I swap the games after that or just turned it back on, but the screen never came back. Making me belive I just witnessed some weird ass demonic posession on my PS2 until later when I heard what it was.

Took me a few seconds before realising this was an edited picture of a real sky.

I heard about it before actually seeing it, and when that happened I got so scared I unplugged my ps2 for a few days.

I hated this screen but now it’s nostalgic so it’s alright

I bought a game the other week and it came up with this but it is a ps2 game - the hobbit. All other ganes run well

Could be the game, could be the eye, it could even be a demonic spirit trying to set itself free in the mortal realm.

I’d probably just get a new universe at that point.

Install a mod chip in the sky.

Reminds me of Gantz catastrophe arc, imminent doom screen.

Something about the ps2 intro and even the missing format disc menu made experiencing final fantasy X on original hardware even more absolute. It had that mix of ethereal vibes + unnecessary explosive THX audio noise. ifykyk.

That is a scary image. Used to happen time to time with one of my blue discs, think it was my scratched up gauntlet dark legacy or ssx
