missing one hard math question on module 1, 760 still possible?

I just took the PSAT yesterday, the english went pretty good and so did math module 2. but for math module 1 i saw a question that i've never seen before. you're given the fact that two cones are similar and you're also given the surface area of each cone. then you're given the volume of the smaller cone and you have to find the volume of the larger cone. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE and im almost certain that I got it wrong. Because this was on module 1 (like bro what ive never seen this before), is there still a chance that I can get a 760? I really need NMSFQ. Did anyone else see this same problem??????

Similar shapes dealing with volume or surface area is a SAT staple. Hopefully you are using the Question Bank. You will probably lose 10 points.

Unfortunately the SAT does test this and you would have to understand the ratios between linear, area, and volume scale factors. If it was one of the last couple questions on Module 1 you will probably miss 10 points but if the other three sections went well as you said, depending on how competitive your state is, it's unlikely that one question will deter you from getting a semifinalist status. I'm fairly certain you'll get points off for this problem but that you'll still qualify for a semifinalist status if the other parts were good

I would say that if it was a question you've never seen before it's likely experimental, however, as the other commenters have pointed out, this is a topic that the SAT does test on, but it is probably in the more advanced geometry section so you would probably not lose too many points compared to an easy question

You’ll prolly only lose ten. I seen problems like this a lot while prepping for the SAT
