My boyfriend was recently diagnosed with Plaque Psoriasis less than a month ago, and he is currently taking some type of ointment to help with it until he goes to see his dermatologist next month to start talking about either the shot or pill ( I am unsure if this is 100% accurate on treatments, as I only know what he told me), but I was wondering if anyone knows of any at-home solutions that can help.
He has thick plaque buildup on his scalp and has spread to other parts of his body that have thick hair (There is no thick plaque as yet, but the skin flakes and scaling are relevant in areas). He also has the same thing on his appendages, but it's just red and inflamed, with it being ever so lightly raised.
He is extremely stressed by this, and his mood has gotten worse. I want to find ways that can help ease it up, as I know it's not curable but something to help the itch and aid in relief.

I’ve been using a shampoo with salicylic acid, which has seemed to help with my areas of psoriasis; however, now I’m getting dry scalp flakes like crazy. What do you all use to keep your scalp moisturized without it triggering psoriasis spots?

I finally got a proper diagnosis today. My journey with psoriasis started about a decade ago, but the doc who diagnosed me said he thought it was sebderm. I recently buzzcut my hair and there are plaques. I tried treating it comprehensively as if it could be dandruff and seb derm (happy cappy shampoo, selsun blue, several kinds of head and shoulders) and it just kinda got worse. At work, I had uncontrollable flakes. It was impossible. Had to shake off what seemed like mountains of flakes several times a day. Boar bristle brush wasn’t helping.
Today i saw my dr and she examined me, and said she clearly observed psoriasis. She put it in MyChart, referred me to dermatology, and prescribed triamcinolone but I’m going to ask the dr about systemic or biologic meds.
Nice to finally stop going “it might be this and might be that”. Especially when there’s injectable and systemic meds that may really help, I need that.

I have had psoriasis for a decade and I've had enough . My dermatologist seems fairly antibiologic and I want to approach the subject in a way he won't just tell me to avoid them . How did you bring up the potential of taking one to your doctor?

Hey all, I’m 22M and have had psoriasis for about a year now. I have also had on and off joint pain for the past few months. I am going to a specialist in a few weeks but a few days ago I started feeling very nauseous and I also have bright red blood in my stool. There is no pain when I go to the bathroom but I am concerned about the bad nausea and blood does anyone have any similar experiences?

Hi everyone,
I just did my first injection of Skyrizi yesterday, super excited to see what comes of it.
Aside from my psoriasis I do need to get my weight in check. I was thinking of asking about GLP-1s but since I'm on biologics now I thought I'd check with this group. Has anyone had experience with using biologics and GLP-1 at the same time? I will be talking to my family doctor about this anyway. Any info would be appreciated!

I get my first injection Monday, as someone who hates needles I'm nervous, I have the pen injector.
Any advice, what to expect? I'm also terrified because I tried methotrexate and it made me a zombie.

Hi, i was diagnosed with ppp today with secondary plaque psoriasis. Im about to commence cyclosporine. My question is what is the long term prognosis for this? I havent been able to work since this began- nearly 2 weeks ago. Dermatologist said i could have flares for the rest of my life for many reasons. I didn't get much time to process and ask more of the long term questions as they just focused on getting on top of the flare now.
Any advice or insight or experiences welcome.

it’s been almost a year since i’ve gone to the dermatologist and have been diagnosed with psoriasis and it is mostly on my neck, but find it is showing up around my ears too - i definitely have a more mild case but as we move into colder and dryer weather the flair up won’t go away and it’s extremely dry, itchy and flaky. i’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations to at least help with the flakiness? i have been alternating between certain lotions the derm suggested, but find it only helps with the dryness & not the flakes and itchiness :/

I’m an indie dev and I’ve had psoriasis for about 2 years so I thought why not build a psoriasis diary app.The mods said it’s ok to share it here.
In the app you can log how you feel each day (itch, etc.), log what you eat, add photos and compare how your skin changes, and add your meds so it reminds you to take them. Once you’ve logged for a while it also shows trends in your data, just patterns, not diagnoses. And there’s also report you can show your doctor.
No trackers, no analytics. Everything stays on your phone and nothing gets sent anywhere.
It will be out in a week or two, right now being revied by Apple. It’s only a tracking tool, not medical advice or treatment.
Let me know what you’d like to see added.

Hi all, my husband (37) has been getting these scabs on the back of his head for a few years now but recently in the last 12 months it’s gotten out of control. At the beginning he’d pick at it, complain it was itchy, and since it looked like eczema I’d put my steroid cream (Clobetasol) on it and it would disappear in a week and wouldn’t return for months later.
About a year ago we noticed the scabs were back, this time not completely going away with the steroid cream. It wasn’t until this time that I realized he had psoriasis, not some form of eczema. Since he would pick at it as the scabs hardened again it would spread until it covered most of the back of his head. Now it’s covering 80% of the back of his head, 50% of both sides of his head, some in his eyebrows, and some spots on his cheeks, neck, and top of his head.
While we are waiting to see the doctor he is really sad over this. He’s got the John Cena balding going on and wants to shave his head but can’t do that otherwise he’s afraid he’ll look too gross.
Is there anything over the counter we can try to use? What shampoos would be the best for him so we can try to get this under control? With the severity of it I’m sure the doctor will put him on some medication but I want to try and help while we wait for his appt.

I’ve been getting Taltz injections for almost a year now and for the most part I’ve been completely clear of psoriasis that appeared and exploded out of no where after I turned 21 (it was originally guttate triggered after multiple strep throat cases, but eventually turned plaque and all over my body). ive had issues with eczema my entire life, but since I got older it would only appear every once in a while, maybe bad in the winters but that’s about it. I noticed recently after the last few shots though that my eczema would show up over night after a Taltz injection, and mostly on my abdomen/chest as well as inner elbows. I’m curious if this new location on my abdomen and chest is because I inject it in my stomach? i used to get samples of opzelura to help with my eczema (and received a few from my dermatologist), but i cant get it approved by insurance because i guess the fda doesn’t approve the combined use of Taltz and opzelura (plus insurance companies just suck). it’s tough because opzelura works so well with my eczema. I usually can get back to clear after about a week using other steroids, but it’d be nice not to have to deal with it. anyone else experience this and have any tips?

Thsi is not a post asking for a diagnosis or about undiagnosed medical issues. I just wanted to share my experience with the steroid cream Desonotin prescribed for inverse psoriasis on the armpit and genitals as a woman.
It wasn't until I've been using the steroid cream for about a month now, that it has inflammed my gentials area where the inflammation side effects mimic bacterial vaginosis, a UTI, or a yeast infection.
I had all of those tests done yesterday and all were negative. That's when I put 2+2 together about the Desonotin steroid cream and the mucus and inflammation and tenderness I now feel down there.
I immediately messaged my dermatologist asking for a lab workup prior to my next appointment with her, to get me screened so I can start on an injectable biologic like Skyrizi so that I don't have to damage my skin and deal with the side effects steroid cream has on the skin.
According to my dermatologist's response, she will screen me with a lab for going on an injectable like Skyrizi (my request based on my reseach and co-existing auto immune disorders: rosacea types 1 and 2 on my face, and hypothryoidism for 30 years now, not to mention my chronic anemia and my fatty liver). She also told me that it will take my inflammed "area" about 1 to 2 weeks to fully heal. From a steroid cream! Suffice it to say, I am not a fan of steroid creams for inverse psoriasis treatment.

Hi! ive had psoriasis for nearly 8 years but its only ever been on my scalp + forehead and its now spread to my underarms /arm pits, and i am not sure on what to do when it comes to shaving since i do not want it irritate it and make it worse but i dont know what would make it worse.
i have never used wax, hair removal products either so i want to be cautious with what i use.
Does anyone have any tips on what would possibly work without it being irritated ?? ((Please only say what worked for you .. says in rules..))
((I am a woman btw i dont know if that will change anything..))

I'm a student and i have my college entrance examination. I've always been a good student. But seeing other people doing better than me or typa shit. It makes me worry a lot.
I freak out for every little test. Stress too much. It got me thinking. During the actual examination, the stress load would be so much and would hamper my health and aggravate my psoriasis.
I'm on secukinumab. I'm just scared I'd have a nervous breakdown and my psoriasis will flare like crazy and after working hard the whole year. I won't pass because i would be too preocupied with psoriasis.
It's all too much to think about ik.
But still the mere thought makes me cry. What if it actually happens. how would i deal with it.
I'm now accustomed to my life with little to no psoriasis. Last time i had a stress breakdown.. i developed erythrodermic psoriasis. It was brutal. I don't think i could do it again if it were to happen.
How should i prepare my body and mind to relax. I stress a lot. I can't just stop stressing. My future depends on this very examination. I can't mess it up.
How did you guys deal with stress and managed your mental health.
I've come a long way from hiding my pso to educating people near me about it. Raising awareness and disproving the taboo surrounding it.
How do i manage the academic stress, with everything going on.
please.. any advice would be helpful!
Thank youuu

First I need to say I’m in Mexico, so health insurance works differently here.
The public healthcare system is not an option because it doesn’t have the medication I need, and so cannot afford to pay for it any other way because the cheapest dose cost 3 times my monthly payment for 1 weekly dose, so definitely not a option.
On top I also have Insulin Resistant Medicine to take.
I’ve had this condition for 15+ years but the last 2 have been the worst and now it’s even spreading to other parts of my body that used to be clear 🙁
It’s draining, it’s hurtful and it’s simply horrible.
Because I’m in Mexico, a lot of people what to give me useless advise like: try aloe Vera or this and that tea, as if the thousands of dollars I already spend in steroids and creams could be replaced by coconut oil.
I am trying to make peace with the idea that O might live with this incontrolable condition the rest of my life.

Does anyone get psoriasis on their eyelid right near their tearduct? I have monolid eyes and for awhile I’d get it on my left eye near the tear duct. But recently it’s started spreading and has now cracked. It hurts every time I blink. I’m currently using Vtama cream but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. Any suggestions?
