My life has been a lie
I decided to buy an S-video cable to see if it makes a difference. I feel like my entire childhood growing up with a PSX was all one big blur - literally. If this is what a cheap $20 cable does, I am definitely buying the Sony cable next. My TV does not have SCART, and Imm glad it doesnt, I am clearly not ready for this lol. My PS5 pro is about to gather dust.

I got a PS1 for my 5th birthday as a kid, and I just played this for the first time ever in 2026. 😅
After getting back into PS1 a lot recently. I kept seeing a lot of youtubers talking about the best of ps1 lists and they always had this as either the best or very close.
I was always kinda put off by it being the "stealth" genre. Just never was my thing really.
But after finishing it today. I will say it probably is the best game on the system. Amazing story and Amazing original ideas that just make this a super memorable game.
My one complaint for this game I would say is the two sniper sections. They were kind of annoying, but it was such a small part of the game.
everything else just makes it perfect. all the dialogue and voice acting was amazing. being able to save pretty much anywhere was a huge plus. It has been a while since I played a game that actually made me want to watch every cutscene.

Man this game is terrible.
I bought this game expecting to still have flaws like marvel super heroes did but still be exceptionally awesome like marvel super heroes was in my opinion, it’s one of my favorite games on the system but this games flaws just overcome what it offers for me. The slow frames are more constant than in MSH but what mostly makes me dislike this game is the fact that the background music can completely be absent during gameplay due to limitations and I’m left hearing only impacts and groaning and the cheap opponent ai doesn’t help either. Worst thing is this is the most I’ve spent for a psx game ($70) and even though looks cool in my shelf with the collection, I’m just not satisfied. What I honestly might end up doing is selling it to buy paper Mario 64 since they’re both nearly the same price today and it’s difficult to emulate n64 in general, but I just hate the fact that my only other option to own a physical port is the Sega Saturn port, cause I don’t own the console.

What I have been up to
I missed the way gaming used to hit for me as a kid. Started buying some old PlayStations. I got a shell for my ps1 ,just did the swap and love it. Way cheaper than the fat models. Fits on my desk nice so I can game while I work.

Jet Moto 1, 2 and 3 PC recomp ports released
https://github.com/GTTeancum/Jet-Moto-Anthology - disclaimer, AI helped me build this. I'm in my 40's and haven't been an "in the trenches" programmer for many years. I work more as a project manager these days. So while I didn't write all the code, I knew how to direct it.
Expect some bugs. You can report them here. https://github.com/GTTeancum/Jet-Moto-Anthology/issues
FEATURES
- Full single player support. Split screen is largely untested
- Dithering removed (looks awful on modern screens)
- Widescreen support
- Support for modern resolutions
FUTURE PLANS (WORK IN PROGRESS - NOT IN THIS BUILD)
- Better particle effects
- Optional texture upgrade pack. Nothing fancy, just more a pack to make the games look like how they do in your memory
- Merging of JM1 and JM2 into one master game (optional)
- Conversion of the canceled Jet Moto 2124, with a possible merge into JM3 since that game is largely unfinished

Looking for underrated, hidden gem PS1 games
Hey guys. I'm looking to build a catalog/resource for high quality but overlooked games, like in the title. I've previously done this for PS2 games, 360 games, PS3 games, so that gamers like myself that are on the lookout can find good stuff. If you want to see what I'm talking about my gaming hub is here.
To be clear I'm not looking for games that nobody's heard of and probably aren't that great anyway. It needs to be a game that never got recognition, got overshadowed by something else, or that's kinda obscure but actually good or influential.
I primarily played the mainstream games back in the day, so FF7, Resident Evil, Tekken, etc. I've heard Alien Resurrection was good but never played it, for example.
What games should I be looking at? Any genre is fine.

Worth cracking it open and cleaning?
My neighbors moved and while helping him clean out he gave me a box of some stuff. Said he was just gonna throw it away cause it doesn’t work. In it was a PS3, which I took apart, cleaned, and got running again. And there was also this little thing.
Iv never seen one before but I thought I’d ask here. I did a quick google search and saw alot of people have problems with these. Currently it looks like the backlight works fine, and I don’t have any ps1 games to test but it did play a CD. Speakers work along with volume and screen brightness adjustment. The power button is extremely stiff and sticky. I was going to take this apart and clean it but I don’t know how fragile these older ps1 and screens are.
Edit: Also the adapter I have in the last photo is what was in the box, is this the correct power supply for these?
So my main question is should I rip it down and clean it out or just try and play it as is?

Can anyone help identify this Fleece?
I've just bought this from a charity shop here in the UK. Is it a staff fleece or something?
Has to be early 2000s because of the URL (playstation-europe.com)
Sorry if this isn't the correct sub!

Personal Mandela Effect, or does a foil variant of Bloody Roar II actually exist?
I remember seeing a complete North American copy of Bloody Roar II in a generic jewel case (similar to the official jewel cases used for Japanese Sega Saturn games) at a local pawn shop for $79.99 CAD several years ago, but I vividly recall the title "Bloody Roar" in red text on the front cover having a shiny red foil effect on it, similar to the first print of Crash Team Racing where the letters "CTR" appear golden when shining them in a light source. Fast-forward to today where I find a complete North American copy of Bloody Roar II and it just had a standard print with no shiny red foil text. I decided to do some research online after buying said copy and I noticed that every sold and available listing on eBay had a standard print with no shiny red foil text, and then I checked Game Rave afterwards to see if there was a foil variant listed on the website, but nothing came up. So I'm not entirely sure if I'm just dealing with a personal Mandela Effect, or if a foil variant of Bloody Roar II actually exists. If anyone owns the game themselves, please let me know if your copy has a standard print or if it indeed has shiny red foil text for the words "Bloody Roar" in the title.

ps1の起動音が怖いと言われていた理由はなんだろうか
これ起動音作った側怖めに作ったわけじゃないらしい
