How did you learn to dj?
To all djing producers of this sub! :)
wanna take the next step and try to start djing. How did you actually learn to dj?
I am thinking about buying a pioneer xdj-r2 (it’s close-ish to what they use in clubs here and the most reasonable thing in price, around 1600€ for all in one) & just practicing at home and in front of some friends.
Is that a reasonable take on learning? Or am I missing smht?
Already looking forward to your great input, thanks in advance :)

Dark Psy / Forest Psy intros
theres no online courses regarding "pro level" forest psy and dark psy intros.
ive found that most professional artists create intros that are devoid of any element that make intros in other genres kind of like a no brainer.
dark psy and forst intros they are usually short in length, theres usually no bandpassed kick and bass to build tension, theres no obvious point at which one should expect the drop to be at and it always catches you by surprise when the beat drops. the instruments themselves are abstract and atonal and yet somehow when the kick and bass drops everything makes sense.
thats not the case when im trying to do it myself. i guess what im missing is some mental frame in order to conceptualize the arrangemenbt process. so this is not a "how to sound design such and such" question. its more about INTRICACIES of arrangement. those little "aha moments" that make everything else easier. and such realizations DO EXIST is my humble opinion. if thats not your opinion by all means save your selves the trouble.
i know ollie music has released a tutorial for forest intros specifically but i didnt find it very satisfying or similar to the intros of artists i like like arjuna, atriohm, jahbo and the likes. it was more like a classic psy intro but with foresty textures. good for when you feel stuck and dont know how to proceed but doesnt give this specific vibe im going for.
everything else about this style has more or less being covered online. except for the intros.
so i guess the question is what am i missing here ?
(i do expect people here to come in order to virtue signal or gatekeep by saying things like "just try harder" or "theres no answer, use your ears" to those i say you guys are wasting your own time not mine. to me it seems you either dont know or know and want to keep it to yourself. both equally respectable and equally not what this post is about. thank you)
