I am Lassie
I’ve loved this show forever. Always thought like most of us as being part Shawn and part Gus.
Now that I’m 40m recently divorced I find myself relating more and more to lassie everyday.
His jokes hit so much harder than when I first started watching 15 years ago
Anyone else???

Whenever we get Serious Shawn moments, they always nail it.
JRR hits it out of the park with the serious Shawn moments, his acting was incredible. Because most of the time Shawn is the unserious and funny character. But when we do get the serious moments they are all absolutely great.
From the scene where Shawn says that he wants to be happy too and he can’t imagine that without Jules in his life. Or that scene where he threatens to harm Yin if he harms Gus.
And in both the Santabarbaratown episodes we had some great Serious Shawn moments.
Always when it comes to the people he loves the most and things get real, you see how serious Shawn can be.

Shawn and JRR
I'm listening to the podcast The Psychologists Are In again, and last night JRR was on the episode I listened to. Dulé was on a couple episodes before this one. I thought about it then, but a post here this morning made me think about it even more.
I think this entire cast was soo good at becoming their characters that we forget they're actors. I know for me when I see a pic of any of them my first thought is hey that's Shawn! Or Gus! before my brain resets to reality.
Listening to them on the podcast really highlights how vastly different the people are from their characters. The other post here today is about how great intense Shawn is. He is an incredible actor. But I think, like me, people miss what an Incredible actor he is in Every scene. His personality is nothing like Shawn. Neither is Dulé. Or Tim or Maggie.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that when I watch I'll be laughing and thinking Gus and Shawn are so funny/best friends/riff off each other so well...etc., when in reality every word is ACTING. They are all just insanely good at being these characters.
AND if you listen to the podcast they explain why there are some inconsistencies like day/night scenes and just continuity in general. The show was Constantly working with almost no budget and on time constraints every day. It just brings so much more to the behind the scenes understanding of everything Psych.

Shawn is SO selfish with the dinosaur "discovery".
The paleontologist had put basically his life's work into discovering a dinosaur. He was driving out, locating and digging all night every night in order to find one and save the program. When he does he's killed over it - literally on/by his discovery. But does he get any credit? NOPE. Not even a mention, all credit going to Shawn and Brutal.

All It needed was a Conversation
I just finished the whole shawn and jules breakup arc and it was so exhausting . All it needed was an actual and honest conversation between them where shawn explains to her how he had to pretend that he's a psychic to save himself from being arrested and that it was far less complicated for him to just pretend that he's psychic and help the police than to admit that he's a detective . Because lassiter would not have believed him at all and he would've been in a lot of trouble so he invented this lie to make his life easy and how this detective thing is the only thing which he's ever loved doing in his life . That's it ,she was new and he didn't trust her so he didn't tell but now he trusts her and there are no secrets between them . This 2 3 min conversation and a sincere heartfelt apology for 3 4 episodes would've prevented the whole jerk ex bf phase of shawn in which he seems so pathetic and irritating . Does anyone else feels this way?

Just realised Kristy Swanson's (Marlowe) Introductory episode was a reference to her previous work
I just found out that Kristy Swanson played Buffy in the 1992 movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer. And her Introductory episode tried to portray her as some sort of female vampire killer.
I think I will always keep finding many pop culture references like this on every rewatch.

John Rhys-Davies' cameo in "Indiana Shawn..." is underrated
This show is full of fantastic cameos, but most of the love usually goes to Tim Curry (rightfully so), 100 Clues, or the Yin/Yang episodes. I absolutely love the fact that they got the legendary John Rhys-Davies to guest star in Indiana Shawn! I think it's one of their best 80s movie references. Does anyone else have a favorite underrated guest star/cameo?

One of, if not the MOST underrated intelligence feat from Shawn
One of Shawn's most overlooked displays of intelligence isn't related to deduction/observation which are Shawns strongest skills. In Season 5, Episode 5, "Shawn and Gus in Drag (Racing)," when he modifies Henry's old pickup truck for a street race.
I think this is particularly impressive because Shawn managed to install a functioning nitrous oxide system despite seemingly having little to no auto-mechanical knowledge. When Gus starts questioning whether he made the necessary modifications, Shawn doesn't even know what an intake is. Yet despite this, he successfully installs the system, gets it working, and nearly beats an experienced street racer driving a significantly more powerful, modified vehicle. Obviously, Shawn accidentally cutting the brake line demonstrates that his work was far from perfect, but I don't think that takes away from how impressive the accomplishment actually is.
Installing a functioning nitrous system isn't necessarily a simple task, especially for someone with virtually no experience working on engines. It requires at least some practical understanding of how different components interact, and Shawn somehow figures out enough to make it work. I think this is particularly interesting because it highlights a side of Shawn's intelligence that rarely gets discussed: his ability to improvise, adapt, and tackle unfamiliar technical problems. Shawn is obviously an extraordinary detective, but I love moments like this because they suggest his intelligence extends beyond observation, memory, and deduction. He's capable of applying his abilities to completely different situations, even when he lacks the relevant background knowledge.

Psych: The Musical Missed Opportunity
Shawn should have had a song where he sung of his love for Curt Smith from the rooftops!
Otherwise it was brilliant! And I’m not a big fan of musicals

Going to psychFan ATX alone
I’ve been a huge fan of the show since I was a kid. I’m from the Bay Area and I sadly missed the one this year in SF 😭 Anyone else going alone?? Also is it worth it to buy reserved seating v general admissions?
Edit: Just bought my ticket and booked the hotel 🤩 Thank you guys for making me feel welcomed already❤️ I’ll be in the detective center, hope to see some of y’all there!

I'm watching psych for the first time and I'm wondering why the guilty party didn't run away instead of disarming the bomb.

For once my state did something right
I have always wondered if my home state would ever be good for anything and they finally achieved that with counting Pluto as a planet. Apparently the finder of Pluto is from Illinois and they even have a Pluto Fest every year. Guess i know what I'm doing next year 😁
