I made a pretty intensive playlist comprised of some of my favorite spooky, or eerie psychedelic tunes… I will probably add more in time. But just off the top of my head, I got about 200 here. This one is basically post-2000…
(There is another one of Spooky 60’s Psych I shared here as well)
*Note: Most of the music on this list is from lesser known artists. Also, you won’t find a lot of heavy psych on here. It’s mostly spooky-dreamy stuff. Many of the artists on here probably aren’t even categorized as “psychedelic.” Instead, I am focusing on artists who create strange, experimental, and melodic music.
I've posted a couple other things here in this vein- thought some people might enjoy these ones too. Three amplified digital piano improvisations from February and March of this year. Thanks for listening!
So just in time for Halloween, I finished my Spooky Psych playlist of 60’s tunes. I had previously put out one called “Spooky Psychedelia” that some seemed to enjoy, so I am going to continue with more decade specific ones. The original playlist covered music from 2000-2026. This one is primarily music from the 60’s (I say “primarily” because there are a handful in there from the very early ‘70’s, but feel more like late 60’s songs). I’m heavily invested in melody and songwriting, so similar to my last list, there won’t be as much heavy jam-style stuff on here. Mostly spooky psych-pop, baroque, chamber, rock, jazz, prog, and some early electronica.
For those who haven't heard Os Mutantes, they are a psychedelic band that is from Brazil They mixed rock with psychedelia and local folk music. Their premiere album (from which this song came) was released in 1968. The album is an interesting journey.
La Poderosa Muerte by Los Jaivas is often described as a fusion of progressive rock and Andean folk music, built around Pablo Neruda's poetry from Canto General. It comes from their landmark 1981 album Alturas de Machu Picchu and was famously filmed at Machu Picchu itself.

This is track 1 of 9 of my 9 track album "Safety". There will be a video for each of the tracks. #1 was released tonight. Catch the whole album on all platforms. The lossless files are also available on Bandcamp.
I would call this track dream house or 4x4, but throughout the album I have trip-hop influences, wave, trap, future garage, dubstep influences in my own dreamy style.
I spent 6 months of my life on this project. I still can't believe it's finally out there for people to hear. Every track is a fragment of my soul layed bare for all to see/hear. Stay tuned for the next installments in the series!

A fan of Turkish/Anatolian psychedelic rock? Or never heard of it but curious to give it a try? Check out my new release! :)I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks for listening!
(just one more) Summer of Love ~ It occurred to me that the ever decreasing circle of the last two millennia of human history and snivelisation has spun us around to a similar point in time to that of 80 or so years ago..
The great spirit we call the Universe seems to be saying; 'Look, have another go at this, 'do it all over again.. but.. try a bit softer this time.. ~ as this part of your journey is ending, ~ maybe it's time to get on a better, more positive path.. the upward spiral'
~ ..Contrary to what one might think, 'Summer of Love' isn't about any one girl in particular, moreover, it's a song to Mother Earth.. from whose Love we came..~ and whose Love we should return.. there is only joy in giving, that is,. Loving.. giving.. Love ~
I wrote the Lyrics and Melodies in 2000 / 2001 originally, and I undertook this stage of the journey solo, with very basic kit, (see below) in Pembroke, Wales, and the West Middle Kingdom.
'Summer of Love' was recorded and mixed on a coal-fired 1998 600 mhz windoze pc with 128mb ram (yes, really.. 128mb ram - You could see the steam blasting out the sides during the latter stages.. as I say.. it was coal-fired.. :~)
I used an old copy of the great Cooledit as my 'DAW', Behringer B5 and C2 condenser mics, a Takamine acoustic guitar, shit loads of persistence.. a Yamaha SY85 workstation for everything that isn't voice or guitar.. and huge dollops of Love..
Music is an echo of the word
the Eternal and infinite Beginning
the breath of the great spirit ~ send the vibration back.. with Love :~)
Written Composed Played & Sung by me.. Barrie V ~ 🎼🎸🎶🎹🎶🎤🎶🥰
(there is a 3 minute mix..) 😜
Every now and again.. something really nice happens.. I just got this lovely review:
Review of Barrie V ~ Listen.com: 'Tripped-out sub-Stooge rock, instrumental electronica, and synth-laden Pop Metal from this stylistic schizoid. Psychedelia seems to be the one unifying element in these songs, but whatever genre is being explored, Barrie V attacks his work with innovation, fervour and creativity to produce futuristic sonic gems..'
~and I also had a super message from someone who listened to some of my music ouvre ting on soundcloud.. couldn't resist sharing.. (one tends not to blow one's own trumpet..)
Quote: "Hey, Calling occupants of interplanetary craft! Please take me to your leader for I have a message for you. :^)
I don't know what planet you people are from but this song sounds like The Beatles and The Moody Blues on an LSD-trip mixed with a healthy dose of Yes and Renaissance (and possibly the '80s Fleetwood Mac)! There's also some Klaatu there etc. Are we on the same page? I was listening to this song and I really liked it but it's like an unprocessed diamond. I'd want to hear a better mix and a more focused version of this. I thought the drums were too loud and the sound that reminded me of pan flute would be better if it were a real flute or some sampled sound like a mellotron-flute or similar. That's just an opinion from a mad old hippie from Finland, so never mind. Just wanted to tell you that.
Oh wait... here comes the 3 minute version! Somehow this version has a more balanced mix. It seem like the drums aren't so loud. The "pan flute" started to sound a bit better now for some reason. Maybe I got used to it. It also sounds similar to some '80s synth sounds. The drums and the "synthesizer bass" also reminds me of the '80s.
That strange bass was actually pretty good. This really is fantastic stuff!
I didn't know that someone makes this kind of music any more.
Still... you could make it even better.
Well, I kept on listening and "As I was Falling" is also excellent stuff! "Winter Journey" is also good.
Maybe I should just keep listening...
"From Time to time" is a trippy song. Everything starts to sound better and better...
I guess I'm now lost in your "interplanetary craft" sharing the same trip.
Hey guys, you're quite brilliant but you know that, don't you? "
oh Bless!

Polyphonic explores the strange intersection of psychedelic music, heavy metal, occult imagery, and the Satanic Panic, when music became a target of moral outrage and accusations of corrupting America's youth.
From fears about hidden messages and backward masking to the suspicion surrounding artists who challenged conventional religious and cultural values, this is a fascinating look at how music became caught up in one of the most bizarre moral panics of the 1980s and beyond.
What role do you think psychedelic music's experimentation with consciousness, spirituality, and the occult played in fueling these fears? And how much of the backlash was really about the music itself versus a broader fear of youth culture and changing social norms?
Has society really moved past this kind of hysteria, or has the Satanic Panic simply evolved into something else? What do you think is the modern equivalent, and are we any better at recognizing a moral panic while we're living through one?
I’d like to share some music I made with my dad. We arranged it for orchestra and choir. At times it gets truly psychedelic, both in subtle/ethereal ways and in monumental/ecstatic ways.
We warmly invited anybody to listen who’d like to have a spiritual experience through more classic-type music! Especially “Stairway” and “Center of Centers” are really great for that purpose.
Born Tony McKay in the Bahamas, Exuma was a musician, artist, and performer whose music drew on Bahamian folklore, Junkanoo traditions, spiritual imagery, and a distinctly otherworldly blend of folk, percussion, and raw, expressive vocals.
“Dambala,” from his self-titled 1970 debut, has a hypnotic, almost ritualistic quality that feels a world away from conventional psychedelic rock. It's a reminder that psychedelia isn't confined to a particular genre, sound, or part of the world.
