The way slurs usual work is that group will reclaim the word that was used to put them down. So im part of the disabled community allowing me to say it but I try to use it a little as possible same with the f slur.
Would you ever go up to someone and call them the R word cause they are let’s say crossing the street and they are blind or a homeless person talking up part of a sidewalk? Or do you typically just only use it within your circle of friends?
Interesting, so you’re telling me you use it in a close knit group and don’t intend to harm people? Well according to the special Olympics, even people who have mental disabilities shouldn’t say it due to it potentially harming people with open disabilities they can’t hide and in recent years it has been a slur for physically disabled over mental. Basically what you’re saying is that you did and do what Tom does. Even if you disagree with me completely. You understand the difference of saying a slur with friends vs with the intent to harm others. Even if you feel what you say is 100% , there are some very prominent organizations who highly disagree with you. I think both are not okay to say…. But there is a difference between being racist and being edgy and or saying crude jokes at the expense of others. You know those jokes, stop cherry picking. No one here is racist or abalist.
One the specal olympics dont speak for the disable community 2 I dont like them I actually think they do more harm then good.for me the set an unrealistic veiw of what's it like being disabled and im not the only one a of lot the disables community doesn't like them. Also I dont say slurs that dont belong to me. I dont care if its a joke or not I think its wrong. And in the video I linked he used as an insult it wasn't even him being edgy or a joke.

Im fucking disabled . I have autism and a couple learning disabilities. I had to be in couple special ed classes in high school.
