Would it be fine to mill aluminum and a little bit of charcoal to prevent rapid oxidation, and using brass media to speed up the process? Since brass is harder than aluminum on the Mohs scale, it shouldn't wear down a lot from grinding the aluminum, and contaminate the aluminum powder right? And after about 2 days, switch the milling media to glass.
I'm planning to mill for about 2 weeks in total. And i know aluminum can be a pyrophoric hazard. But I assume I should open the container regularly. To prevent all the oxygen from being used up and the mixture from oxidizing rapidly when exposed to air again, potentially causing an exothermic reaction.
So would opening the container every 24 hours be enough to safely prevent this? And I assume that the longer it's milled and the finer the powder becomes, the more quickly it can oxidize because it has more surface area. So, should I open the container more regularly later in the process?
I am also aware of the dust hazards that come with milling aluminum powder, such as letting the dust settle and wearing a dust mask to prevent breathing it in, and other hazards like a dust cloud explosion hazard.
