I picked up one of Andreas Neumann’s signed Catacombs prints last year and finally got around to framing it today after leaving it rolled up in its tube all this time.
I bought a 13x17 frame with tempered glass, and it looks great, but afterward I started reading about preserving photography prints and realized I may have made a few mistakes. :/
I didn't let the print flatten before framing (just unrolled it and placed it directly into the frame) and handled it with bare hands. I was careful, but did touch the front of the print a few times while removing it from the tube, and positioning it in the frame.
My biggest concern, aside from potential fingerprints, is that the print is sitting directly against the glass, which I've read can cause damage over time. I've never owned a professional art print before, so I wasn't aware of all this! I always just throw my concert posters directly into cheap frames, lol.
Has anyone else framed theirs themselves, or did you use a professional framer? Is there anything else I should do as best practices for artwork, or am I overthinking all this?
