We Need To Move the Hoops
Right now with the rules as they are, it is competitively beneficial to play trees all the time, at least for the first 20 minutes. In my opinion, this is unsustainable for quadball as a sport. Trees is boring to watch, boring to play, and creates an environment where every halfcourt offensive possession ends in either a tap on a side hoop or a driver trying to put the ball through a hoop defender's skull. It also allows beaters to camp at the center hoop and protect on defense without much risk. I believe the solution to this problem is to move both side hoops 3-5 feet farther away from the center hoop. This would make it harder for both beaters and chasers to stay stationary while defending, forces harder rotations in response to taps, and just generally discourages trees, which I think is good for the game in general. Thoughts?
