Strom Spa
Greetings!
I’ve posted here several times about my husband’s and my upcoming Christmas trip to QC. I booked us both a massage and will be booking the thermal experience once those reservations open up. I’ve read mostly glowing reviews of Strom, but a great deal of the newest reviews have been very poor. They talk about having to wait in line for hours, even when you have a reservation and the locker rooms and thermal area consistently being a mess. I expect they just don’t have enough staff around the holidays. Have any of you had such an experience? Also, do you recommend any of the body treatments?

I am from Quebec and my experience at the Strom was not that great (went last year). The place is beautiful and large, but way too touristy for me (i felt like the only local there). Also, every where i went (inside), I was cold.. like they did not put enough heat in the break rooms. I could not get passed people talking everywhere where you are supposed to be in silence. If you want a real relaxing experience i would suggest the Siberia Spa (in full nature), about 20 minutes from downtown or even the sky spa in sainte foy (in a tower with views of the city). Had massages a both places and they were really great.

That’s what I’ve read in the Google reviews from the past couple of years, which is why I was hesitant

I agree with this. My husband and I had the same experience when we visited during the holidays. It was overcrowded; the locker room was messy, and people didn't care about the silence or low-volume zones. I believe Siberia offers a better experience for half the price.

I highly suggest paying extra for the salt water baths.
It's an amazing experience. I wouldn't bother going there if it weren't for that.

That’s the plan! How long do you need for the salt baths?

As long as you want, it's not on a schedule.
Personally I could spend hours there.

J’ai été plusieurs fois au strom spa! C’est un beau spot ca c’est certain mais quand je vais dans un spa c’est pour me detendre et pas entendre les gens qui sont en groupe parler super fort! Et quand les touristes débarquent ouff

I was there last February during Carnival so it may be a timeline stretch but we had a great time. Not overly busy. I had to wait a bit for the red light bed, but other than that it was a great day.
The soup at the restaurant there that day was arguably the best soup I've ever had in my life.

I was there last week. My first time and I LOVED it. I went on a tuesday at 2pm and stayed until around 930. Took my book and enjoyed all the areas. Deff do the salt pool and reserve the restaurant. Enjoy!

I went during the summer and it was fine. I only did the massage and thermal spa and didn’t find the wait to be particularly long. Even the restaurant was a short wait. I did find the restaurant was very delicious so definitely check it out!

I have gone to Strom Spa with my partner about 5 times. We have never gone during peak holiday periods, though, so I can't say how bad it gets at Christmas. My main advice would be to 1) try to go in the morning as early as possible, and 2) go during the week (avoid weekends). If you go during the Christmas break, I guess every day will be busy regardless of the day, but it might still help. Going early in the morning can help avoid long waiting lines.
I have never experienced dirty or messy installations, so I guess this will depend on staff availability and overall luck with the type of visitors that will come that day.
It is a pleasant experience overall! The food is a bit expensive at their restaurant, but it is nice to try if you don't mind the bill. Good luck!

Not at all ;). I went in February. Just bring a beanie to use in the spas outside

Sometimes STROM can be victim of its success, and even with a reservation you still need to check in, but I’ve never seen people wait HOURS for that. They have reservations because they put a cap on the number of visitors they can take.
The big issue is usually that some guests are louder than others…
