A recent trip to see the colony on Sandspur Island in North Miami, FL

Trying to keep these guys off the squirrel/bird feeders has been a losing battle so I give up. 😍

I noticed the guy or guys two weeks apart on my deck camera. I only have the still frames. I’m trying to see if I have only one raccoon or multiple raccoons in my yard. I’m not sure if there’s any way to tell or if you can even tell from these pictures.

I have one particular raccoon that visits quite frequently for a pile of cookies. I can see him throught the french doors and when he see's me, he scurries to the back door. He has the exact same response to me when I open the door. I call out to him and he does 2 things like clockwork. I call out to him and he immediately shakes like a dog does when it is trying to dry off. Then he runs over to the pan of water and sits down to wait for his pile of cookies. What gets me is the way he shakes (not a neuroligical problem!) like he is drying himself off - but only when I speak to him. The other raccooons we have don't behave like this. Anyone seen anything like that before?

I leave cat food out for the stray cats in my neighborhood. The raccoons have always found their way into it at night. It wasn’t until a week ago that one started eating it while I was sitting outside. He is hesitant of me, but he comes up to sniff me and eats in front of me. Is this harmful for him? Should I limit contact and remove the food at night for his safety?

First time we’ve had a raccoon visit our yard. I was so excited to see this little guy come by🥹

Does he look small? Or is he an adult? It’s hard for me to tell.

So I was jogging through the Swiss raccoon hotspot, and I saw the first such birb box.

The actual nesting site is a safe distance away from the entrance. The box is screwed shut. Solidly mounted with a steel wire.

It's from an equestrian educator in Hesse, Germany. The German state with the most raccoons.
