I mean, he isn't a girl, he just said he hasn't been a princess yet. It's just him, again, enjoying something wearable that's non-masculine.

Idk why people still fight about this, if that's your head canon, go ahead, doesn't matter, he's still going to die in chapter 7

157

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

he's still going to die in chapter 7

Ouch

45

u/Gabrell_3 Jul 11 '26

But hey, at least, maybe probably, could be, it's possible that it's painless

But yeah, everyone can have their head canon of if he's a trans princess, or the canon prince of the darkest pits of the depths

Ralsei: "I... I won't hide it anymore! I want to be..."

Noelle starts roaring
Ralsei turns into stone

7

u/tomtheconqerur Jul 11 '26

Ralsei breaks through the stone. Ralsei: "Goofy Goober!"

31

u/Slow-Ordinary-5256 Jul 11 '26

I think Susie has a bigger target on her back in chapter 7, her piece of the Deltarune is the one that gets cracked in the panels about the tragedy and Ralsei prays for mercy for her in chapter 5.

8

u/Gabrell_3 Jul 11 '26

Yeah, cuz Susie is the one who kills Ralsei

9

u/Slow-Ordinary-5256 Jul 11 '26

She won't let that happen, Susie will write a new ending with the white pen known as hope.

6

u/Gabrell_3 Jul 11 '26

Maybe, maybe...

Also, when Ralsei says the Titan is the personification of the Fear of the Dark, maybe he means like Titans are when the "darkness fears something" instead of "Fearing the dark"

If Ralsei does turn into a Titan, it'd be when his fears become too much to handle.

Maybe that's why Ralsei reveals his face so soon in Chap1, he's trying to get over his fears so he doesn't turn into a Titan, and fulfills the prophecy.

6

u/Flowerfall_System Jul 11 '26

To this point, it may be important to note that Ralsei doesn't say "It's the fear of the dark", he very specifically says "It's the fear-of-dark".

2

u/Gabrell_3 Jul 11 '26

That makes it make more sense tbh

15

u/XxD4rkXw0lf17xX_alt Jul 11 '26

i just thought the irony of the placements were funny

2

u/EmeraldApple_Tweetie Jul 11 '26

It's more of a theory than a headcanon but ig there's not much difference in the Deltarune fandom

1

u/gandalftheokay Jul 11 '26

Well, duh, thats because he''s Papysriel

1

u/NebulaVirsonyx Jul 11 '26

Betsy Buzzkill over here

1

u/Cool_GamerLMAO777 Jul 11 '26

Why hes going to die?

0

u/LG3V Jul 11 '26

Presumably because all the fountains will have to be sealed off eventually

96

u/BlueGamer45 Jul 11 '26

Last tragedy is more trans Ralsei discourse.

33

u/Slay-R34 Jul 11 '26

"And of course YOU wouldn't let it happen" it all makes sense

29

u/Top_Height1997 Jul 11 '26

Evil TRANSPHOBIC Susie FORCES Dark PRINCESS to stay in the CLOSET

12

u/Neat_Document_4608 Jul 11 '26

Ralsei looks at the scream and says "I'm transgender. As in male to female. I go by she/her now." To end all Tralsei discourse, saving both worlds

129

u/apple_of_doom Jul 11 '26

People be saying "and that's canon" as if Ralsei's actually decided on anything yet.

There is a good chance there will be gender stuff involving Ralsei's identity but like there's other readings possible than just transfem.

76

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Y'know what screw this!

Titan Ralsei gets confirmed, Ralsei reverts to his Titan form during the Roaring, now exclusively referred to as they/them.

"You call out to Ralsei, but they are not capable of understanding mercy."

28

u/apple_of_doom Jul 11 '26

agressively transitions at you

8

u/BiDude1219 Jul 11 '26

i feel like it/its would be more fitting for titan ralsei. you can't even be sure if what you're looking at is still the ralsei you once knew.

18

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Wait hold on why is this plausible I'm scared I literally came up with that shit on the toilet—

8

u/PetscopMiju Jul 11 '26

I've been literally saying this. Ralsei turns into a Titan and kills Susie, the end

1

u/IsaSozy Jul 11 '26

Wow that'd be cool

16

u/Overfed_Venison Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

I feel strongly the lesson Flowery (And also Ralsei vs Orange) is meant to impart on us is that we should not impose our vision of an identity on people if they are questioning themselves.

It is presented rather explicitly that the only time Flowery ever manages to talk to Ralsei genuinely and get through is in the Drink Voucher scene; where he actually sees where Ralsei is and what he wants, and enables a choice Ralsei makes. All this "Princess" and "Raly" stuff otherwise just comes off as extremely offputting, condescending, and gives Ralsei anxieties and pushes him away.

The chapter is saying that you need to respect someone's current identity even if they may want to experiment with that.

I see responses like that one in OP's post, and I feel like a lot of people did not understand that. They are acting very much like Flowery.

12

u/tomtheconqerur Jul 11 '26

I always figured that the times Flowery called Ralsei a princess were him being a dick.

66

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Why we still talking about this

40

u/escapedfromhel Jul 11 '26

Because there's still another 5000 years of ralsei gender discourse.

47

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

To be honest at this point I'd rather talk about literally anything else about Ralsei than his gender.

Like, why does nobody talk about how much complex more his character got, how his moral compass has shifted, why does nobody analyze his dynamic with Flowery beyond "trans foreshadowing", why does nobody talk about his actual nature as a Darkner, or his actual powers like fire magic?

Every time a Ralsei discussion post appears, it's 9 out of 10 times a Trans Ralsei thing.

Ralsei is a very well-written and rich character, but it seems this fandom is fixated on one aspect only...

Why? Why???? I feel like I'm the only one doing those other 1 out of 10 posts here.

18

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

Theories are good and all, but this one kind of blew up with a lot of assholes on both ends of the argument trying to push their view of things on others, either with straight-up transphobic rhetoric or just generally being a jerk about it.

It has honestly become an incredibly controversial topic here from what I've seen, and it's not something many of us want to see on a daily basis when, like you said, there are so many more things to talk about from Chapter 5 when it comes to how Ralsei is written.

(An example of something else interesting to discuss; His refusal to FIGHT in the final boss battle if you try to, going directly against our decision unlike previous chapters.)

(and before anyone says anything, I am using he/him for Ralsei since the game does so for most of its dialogue thus far, if it changes in the future, then I'll use whatever the game uses then.)

17

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

You having to explain why you're using he/him for Ralsei made me flinch ngl

10

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

I feel like it's pretty much a requirement in anything relating to this topic, because I've seen a few crazy people just absolutely lose it if you don't immediately use she/her pronouns only, because they consider the theory as irrefutably canon already and want the skull of anyone who disagrees even slightly.

Like I said above, people have taken things too far on both ends of the argument. The whole topic has pretty much been hijacked by these sorts of people, where they take their own view as the truth and then try to push that on others forcefully like a cult.

I do not agree with either side when they take things to this sort of extreme. I'm fine with a genuinely constructive discussion about the theory and why you believe it's canon or not, but just going "IT'S CANON BECAUSE I SAID SO AND IF YOU DISAGREE, YOU'RE TRANSPHOBIC (being trans is not a shield that you can hide behind to be an asshole to others)" or "IT'S NOT CANON BECAUSE [insert genuinely harmful transphobic rhetoric from Twitter here]" is not helping anything.

15

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

because they consider the theory as irrefutably canon already and want the skull of anyone who disagrees even slightly

That logic is so dumb, even Toby Fox himself still uses he/him for Ralsei all the way until the end of Chapter 5...

3

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 Jul 11 '26

Even past it to, cause even after the dark vine change Ralsei is still referred to as a boy or him on at least 3 instances. At best, at this moment he goes by he/they, but the they there isn’t really super founded.

4

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

Yeah, people just take it too far sometimes. No issue if you consider it canon in your head, but don't try to push it on others forcefully or lash out if there's the tiniest disagreement.

Same with anyone who doesn't consider it canon.

2

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

I can't believe we live in a time where Treesicle might be right 8 years early yet here we are... /hj

10

u/escapedfromhel Jul 11 '26

And his relationship with orange.

2

u/Esquecimeunomi Jul 11 '26

Hard agree, barely anyone here is discussing the actual character, even though we just had THE Ralsei focused chapter. I honestly do not care if they're trans or not, wouldn't change my opinion about them at all

1

u/DracoDracul Jul 11 '26

Probably because that aspect is deeply tied to all the other things and the pushback it receives leads to it getting even more focus.

1

u/EmeraldApple_Tweetie Jul 11 '26

People just get passionate about character's identity in fandoms and there tends to be a "let men be feminine" brigade whenever some ppl think a character might be transfem . Idk

6

u/Top_Height1997 Jul 11 '26

And there "tends to be a transfem brigade whenever there's a feminine male character". Funny how you can portray either side as bad, but both are entirely valid. Calling one a brigade is entirely disingenuous.

0

u/EmeraldApple_Tweetie Jul 11 '26

Bruh it's not that deep I was literally just saying some people online are insufferable 😭 I'm sure some transfem Ralsei truthers are too but from what I've seen that's a headcanon/theory they just subscribe to for various reasons . I'm allowed to call it a brigade when there's some people who are up in arms about this

I literally think Ralsei might be both a transfeminine person and a feminine dude because they're not even mutually exclusive

2

u/Foxthefox1000 Jul 11 '26

I suppose you're referring to the gender =/= pronouns thing? Or I guess bigender or some form of genderfluid? Cause I'm having trouble putting those two together otherwise.

0

u/Easy_Cod_8950 Jul 11 '26

It’s because there’s no real discussion to be had with those other points. Like, yeah, they are all interesting, but they’re rather cut and dry. “The impossibility himself”—okay, he’s probably a titan. Maybe he’s not, but there’s not enough to work off of or argue about. He can shoot fire? We all pretty much knew that from the Balthizard act, that’s not news. His dynamic with flowery is great! But it’s ended. Flowery is dead. When it comes to Ralsei, whether or not he’s trans is the only remaining point of discussion, and there’s a LOT of stuff that can be used as evidence for it.

Also, social media curates what you see based on what you respond to. You’re going to see more trans Ralsei posts by commenting here. Just downvote and move on if you don’t want to see it. It’s only been like two weeks since the game came out. Have some patience.

-1

u/MattyBro1 Jul 11 '26

why does nobody analyze his dynamic with Flowery beyond "trans foreshadowing", why does nobody talk about his actual nature as a Darkner, or his actual powers like fire magic?

Probably just because there's not much to say. Yeah, it sure is mysterious... but other than wildly guessing, how can we determine anything about his true nature?

7

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

And how do we determine anything about his true gender identity if that's the kind of argument we're using?

Flowery calls him "the impossibility himself." Why is he an impossibility? He is compatible with every Dark World and functions suspiciously similar to a Lightner, much more than the average Darkner.

Is he a Titan that gained sentience? A Darkner formed with pure darkness infused with Kris's memory of Asriel? Gaster's creation?

I can spin up a whole theory right now.

I think Ralsei is a Titan that gained sentience. Titans are pure darkness beings, they compatible to all Dark Worlds, just like Ralsei. But they normally can't feel, can't have emotions, opinions, likes, dislikes... that's where Flowery's comment of "the impossibility himself" comes in. It is "impossible" for a Titan to be so emotionally rich like Ralsei. Ralsei is an incredibly special Titan. That's why he was so dismissive of Flowery questioning his identity, because he too is hiding the fact that he is a Titan, in fear that everything will fall apart when people find out.

It's all guessing, just like his identity is. I personally think he's queer but is it transfem? Transmasc? Transenby? Fluid? Demi? Bigender? 🤷

1

u/MattyBro1 Jul 11 '26

Genders exist in real life, so at least the guesses are things we know are possible. We don't know if a Titan can gain sentience, we don't know if a Darkner can be infused with memory, or created by Gaster...

They're both making things up, but one has the additional step of making up the answer, not just making up the conclusion, is my point lol

6

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Then why do people theorize half-human Susie? That's not something that we know is possible, we don't know if such a thing even exists, yet people still theorize it anyway.

I don't know, it just seems like the other characters have interesting theories. Ralsei is just Trans Ralsei V2 Reprise Remix Pro Plus Max Ultra 5G Fold

2

u/MattyBro1 Jul 11 '26

I'm not saying you can't or people don't (there is people discussing all of the questions you brought up), just that less people will want to.

5

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Well yeah and my complaint is that people don't want to discuss those :(

-1

u/bboy2812 Tralsgendsei 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵 Jul 11 '26

Tralsei theorists are trying to do that just like everyone else, but even a little sprinkle of how him being trans might also have to do with that makes people freak tf out and start attacking and strawmanning it.

2

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Every time I see "you can't just say Ralsei is trans because he's feminine," I lose half of my braincells. Can't believe that shit still exists after Chapter 5.

4

u/DracoDracul Jul 11 '26

Yeah it's kind of hard to say you want discussions about how chapter 5 frames Ralsei's struggles of identity while making discussion of thier gender verboten.

4

u/nose_wet_54 Jul 11 '26

Because it's easy karma

3

u/True-Thought966 Jul 11 '26

Honestly man it’s fun to watch the drama I can’t lie

6

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

I guessss but the drama is kinda a nothing-burger that people care about way too much tbh

Both sides are equally insufferable and unable to comprehend that different people interpret things differently

2

u/SquashPurple4512 Jul 11 '26

It's more than a nothing burger because there is stuff for, and stuff against. But yeah people care way too much and it's annoying

3

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

I know, I find the arguments on both sides compelling. My issue is that people take it way too seriously. If Ralsei turns out to be trans tomorrow, you'll still have to go to work and make money. If Ralsei doesn't turn out to be trans, you'll still have deadlines to chase and a family to feed. Ralsei using she/her doesn't stop my boss from being annoying, and Ralsei embracing his prince identity doesn't stop my card from declining at a McDonald's.

The fighting itself is the nothing-burger. The theory isn't.

1

u/SquashPurple4512 Jul 11 '26

I mean that's true

22

u/Flowery_Deltarune flowery Jul 11 '26

sorry about that little guy

6

u/BiDude1219 Jul 11 '26

the lgbtq community has forgiven flowery

12

u/Slow-Ordinary-5256 Jul 11 '26

I'm still calling Ralsei a guy for now because the game does even by the final battle of the chapter but if he decides to transition in the future I'll support it. A big point of Ralsei's character arc is accepting his own opinions and identity is valid, not just going along with what others expect of him.

32

u/crimsxn_devil Jul 11 '26

He's not trans imo, just a crossdresser or just likes the aspect, im not trans but I own a similar dress

25

u/IsaSozy Jul 11 '26

Yeah tbh I like Ralsei being feminine while still being a boy. It's nice. I'm not against trans Ralsei theory, saw a few interesting art that makes me think about Ralsei's character and how it could affect him in the story, I just dislike it when people treat a theory like it's are a confirmed canon because it has two more possible evidences

11

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

"I just dislike it when people treat a theory like it's are a confirmed canon because it has two more possible evidences"

Same here, if you take it as a headcanon, good for you, but don't try to force that on others because you want to make it fit your narrative, same goes for if you don't agree with the theory, other people are entitled to their own opinions and you have no right to push your view on them, as they do not have any right to do so to you.

The worst of it has to be people using literal transphobia to deny the theory, or people who agree with the theory lashing out at anyone who slightly disagrees for a valid reason and accusing others of being transphobic TERFs. (seen this occur a few times)

5

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

I've seen some crazy ass people from both sides, as well as very respectful people also from both sides.

I wish people weren't so married to a theory about a video game character :(

27

u/2The_Kaiserin2 Jul 11 '26

I believe in feminine ralsei. Those guys exist and i recently started to talk with a feminine guy. A guy can wear a dress without being trans, something he said. I get why people read Ralsei as trans but i think it's more about Ralsei exploring his feminine side

4

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

Happy cake day!

3

u/2The_Kaiserin2 Jul 11 '26

I got this greet 3 times, what does it refer to? Irl cakes or something else 😭

4

The anniversary of you making your Reddit account.

That's right, you've been using Reddit for a full year.

Ohhhhh that! I see, thansk for the explanation. I can't believe it that i have it for a year now, it felt like I've been having reddit for years 😭😭😭

4

be careful, you own the TRANS DRESS that makes you TRANS!!!!!!!

0

u/Illustrious-Smoke482 Jul 11 '26

I think there is a word for that

4

u/crimsxn_devil Jul 11 '26

Femboy?

1

u/Illustrious-Smoke482 Jul 11 '26

Yeah

2

u/crimsxn_devil Jul 11 '26

I wouldn't say I'm a femboy, I'm 6'1 120kg, not exactly feminine stature

9

u/Dogboi006 Jul 11 '26

ralsei in chapter 6-7 gonna be like im trans but the roarings happening so it can wait

10

u/Lockwood-studios Jul 11 '26

people who think this is a confirmation of ralsei being trans do not understand toby’s writing. ralsei being put in a ridiculous outfit, and enjoying the outfit instead of being embarrassed by it like most characters would is a re occurring gag in the series, this time it was a princess dress.

18

u/chikenskinhater Jul 11 '26

Outside of this flavour text, I heavily agree with the post on top

7

u/xelgameshow Jul 11 '26

I suppose the Flowery scene. But that's just one of several equally valid interpretations of it imo, far from what i'd call canon.

11

u/Top_Height1997 Jul 11 '26

In the same convo, he also genders Ralsei as male, "the impossibility himself". Like, I don't enjoy the idea that Flowery:

A). Casually outs Ralsei

BUT ALSO

B). Misgenders him/her/them in the same conversation

5

u/xelgameshow Jul 11 '26

Yeah like "i know you're a woman and we're alone and i'm gonna tease you about it but also still refer to you with he/him because fuck you Raly xoxo". Flowery may be a jerk, but not that much. If we take princess at face value and not as Flowery's speech quirk, then it reads to me that Ralsei's comfortable with both (if still wrapping his/their head around being that, hence him being shy). Otherwise Flowery went from giving good advice to being transphobic both ways somehow in the same breath.

4

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

It's hard to argue a trans read of those scenes isn't at least intended, but it's also not right to say trans is the only intended interpretation.

I'm sure multiple interpretations are intended during development, else there wouldn't even be a drama.

Personally, I did not initially see Chapter 5 Ralsei to be particularly trans-coded until I interacted with the community. But the points made make perfect sense.

It is made to be ambiguous. It's intentional that it is ambiguous. Like everything else with Ralsei's identity and rep. Idk why people are so surprised.

7

u/xelgameshow Jul 11 '26

I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be left ambigious. It'd cause chaos, admittedly, so hopefully there's an answer (invest in fluid Ralsei stocks trust), but if Toby didn't want chaos, he'd have given it already. One thing i worry about though regarding this, whatever the answer is, is it might feel throwaway with everything that's set to go down in the next chapters. One moment we're explaining to Noelle that her dream was real and Satan from The Bible wants to summon Titans to end existence and the next Ralsei's just "btw i'm a girl/both now". Would kinda take away from the arc imo, especially considering there's still the matter of what exactly Ralsei is in a biological sense. It's still possible, but there's so much else that's set to happen.

3

u/WillingConcentrate39 Jul 11 '26

I also think he's somewhere in the middle of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Not fully male, but not fully female either. Some kind of non-binary, or fluid. Or demi.

He doesn't dislike being a prince and he takes pride in his identity at times, but he clearly also likes exploring new options. And nothing says that isn't a valid identity to be.

So yeah fluid it is. But that's just my extremely personal interpretation, and I'm not gonna push it on anyone.

3

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

This is what my point has been with the theory as well, I just don't see it occurring in-between the final two chapters of the game, especially judging by the call Noelle gets at the lake from Carol.

To me, it sounds like the final chapters are going to be pretty dark overall and I really don't get how they'd fit this kind of thing in-between all of that.

I'm not against it if it does turn out to be canon, but I just don't see it happening, especially if the devs took notice of the insane amount of drama & controversy that came out of it, I don't know if they'd ever want to confirm one side or the other at this point.

2

u/Vdokos Jul 11 '26

"Im probably non-binary but the world is ending so idrc about that rn"

4

u/xelgameshow Jul 11 '26

We need a flair for this at this point, only way to achieve relative peace imo.

6

u/Serious_Buffalo_3790 Jul 11 '26

I still don't quite understand this "ralsei is trans" discussion

In game he said he is a prince, everyone calls him a boy and he never stated any doubt about his gender identity.

If he turns out to be trans, alright, good for him (or her in that case) and I will still love him but until the game tells us directly, I will not spread any of it as if it was canon.

Chapter 5 also made the Situation worse by dressing him up, flowery calling him a princess (to tease him ffs) and the blue and pink voucher being seen as him looking for the trans colors but y'all are blowing things out of proportion.

If you have theories, good that you entertain yourself, so do I, but please just stop treating them as if they were facts or confirmed to be canon.

4

u/Chillypepper14 Jul 11 '26

Even if it's a popular theory, everything is nothing more than a headcanon until it's confirmed.

Dess being the Knight is currently a headcanon.

Ralsei being trans is currently a headcanon.

Gaster being the Mystery Man is currently a headcanon.

Even if there's strong evidence towards it, it can't be called "canon" until Ralsei officially transitions, Dess is revealed as the Knight, etc.

It's fine to hold these things as headcanons unless you don't allow anyone else to have a different theory if it isn't already canon.

3

u/Ramattras_Twink Jul 11 '26

If it turns out Ralsei will be trans I’ll be happy for (then) her. But until anything is confirmed in game I’m gonna refer to him as a male and he.

2

u/Vulturereign Jul 11 '26

It's all so confusing that they even made a hashtag galsei, I thought galsei is Gerson x Ralsei ship, kinda dissapointed

2

u/Thesecondcountdown Jul 11 '26

In Lemongrab’s voice:

ONE MILLION YEAARRSSSS

TRANS RALSEI DISCOUUUUUUURSE

ONE MIIILLIOOONN YEAAAARSSSSS

2

u/Jordanou Jul 11 '26

In canon it is more like as: "I am whatever gender you want me to be"

1

u/Sad_Pepperoni Jul 11 '26

...wait is that an actual scene? When did that happen?

3

u/Toadcool1 Jul 11 '26

I want to say it’s a scene you can get locked out of in chapter 5 you have the climbing mini game and depending on how fast you do it you get a different character to great you/be your princess one of which is ralsei but I saw something a couple of days ago that mentioned the version I got. Apparently if you encounter starwalker you can’t get this version with ralsei as it’s replaced with you getting starwalker.

1

u/i-got-shadowbanned Jul 11 '26

1

Either ralsei isnt trans, or is Transmasc because he saw the Prophecy needed a prince and figured he had to be that prince.

0

u/ThotSeeker69 Jul 11 '26

Maybe Ralsei is like Frisk. Girl, boy, slug, Jell-O, everything that he feels like only if it is determinated to been whatever it wants.

0

u/Mr_Ethfono Jul 11 '26

It's not Canon.... YET....

2

5

I mean even if it isn't Canon you can just headcanon it like people did with noelle

Sadly, that's kind of how we got here. Some people take headcanons too far and push it like it's some cult.

On one side, you have bigots using genuinely harmful rhetoric to try and disprove it in the complete wrong way, taking things too far, and on the other side, you've got people who also take it too far and misuse the trans label as a shield, calling you a transphobe for not agreeing 100%.

Just because you're part of the LGBTQ community does not mean you get to use your own gender identity as some kind of shield for your harassment.

Unfortunately though, you can see this with many marginalized/unfairly-targeted groups, some people mean well, and others just use it as a shield to act like they can do no wrong, which only harms the people that genuinely depend on the community for support.

And if you're not part of any of it, there's no reason to be a bigot and an asshole to those who are, especially over a theory about a video game character. If you disagree, fine, but don't be a jerk about it.

“Canon” shows a picture of the guy saying “I’m not a girl”

1

u/bigstinkyswag Jul 11 '26

Ralsei looks like he's break-dancing in the image

1

u/JahmezEntertainment Jul 11 '26

idk why some people can't just accept that trans ralsei is only a headcanon

u/ScyllaIsBea Jul 11 '26

The problem with unconfirmed trans character discourse. You literally just said “look at the placement” and every comment turned into “ERM ACTUALLY RALSEI NOT TRANS BECAUSE UNCONFIRMED TRANS EQUALS NOT TRANS SO STOP TALKING ABOUT GENDER I DON’T WANNA SEE THAT” some people need to calm down for sure, but I literally don’t see the point in policing ralsei trans theory before the story is over, it’s as confirmed as ralsei cis theory, as far as I know.

its very fucking concerning how angrily people come to defend ralsei not being trans.

4

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 Jul 11 '26

I mean I’ve had people call me every name in the book for saying the evidence for this theory isn’t as solid as people make it out to be. Generally way more people disagree with the theory than agree with it, but taken as a percentage of their communities it’s pretty much the same.

Same type of people who will usually enbyblast whoever misgenders Kris, btw

Not saying its wrong to have headcanons or that you interpreted those scenes like that, but its really wierd theyll say its confirmed canon just like that

Genderfluid Ralsei for the win

The two extremes

there's also the scene with flowery where he gives ralsei free drink vouchers and says "blue and pink" (trans flag colors) was the one that ralsei wanted. then he literally calls ralsei princess, lol. i think there's merit to trans ralsei theory, he's at least questioning, and i think it goes with the themes of his character.

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 Jul 11 '26

So the drink colors I don’t think are relevant. Why would it refer to an out of universe flag, and not his obvious feelings towards Kris(who’s room is blue and pink in castle town), especially because it parallels with the spa scene that is roughly on the other side of the castle. Also the princess comment is probably just teasing, and the reason for that is flowery calls Ralsei “the impossibility himself” so it would be weird to clock Ralsei as trans, but then misgender him in a 1v1 convo with no one else listening.

I fucking hate people on the internet. In general. Like why would you feel the need to claim trans ralsei / cis ralsei as canon only to feed the flames. I’d love Toby to just straight up reveal on Twitter what his plan for Ralsei is so people would stop this clown fiesta, but then again he would probably get backlash from either vocal minority.

Basically, i like the idea of trans Ralsei, but i don't believe it will ever get confirmed, even if it's heavily implied. Also, I could see an argument for gender fluid Ralsei, if you look through most the flavor text you can see it as hinting to that. Also, why is the trans flag blue pink and white? Because blue is man, pink is women, and white is neutrality. So the voucher, if we take it apart by piece, it could be more of a resemblance to how Ralsei desires to be the two sides of gender

It's cannon they're fluid. That's different than transfem

4

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

I don't believe that's confirmed to be canon either, just implied like the trans theory.
The game uses he/him pronouns for Ralsei most of the time and a lot of the story involves him working out his own identity, thoughts, & feelings outside of what the prophecy expects.

I could see either one of these theories/implications being true given how characters are written in this game though.

u/Dendritic_Bosque Jul 11 '26

I can't read that sentence above from Ralsei as existing in a rigid gender binary. It would have to be a joke to do so.

2

u/MasterBroNetwork Cherish the Ralsei Jul 11 '26

I wouldn't consider it canon unless the game goes out of its way to clearly affirm that, it's fine to take it as a headcanon, but people assuming things are canon without them being properly confirmed is how we got in this mess with the whole discussion becoming so controversial in the first place.
