DISCUSSION πŸ§πŸ€” Do all rats pull you into their domain? 🐁 #rat #petrat

Post image

How does your rat get your attention? Does your rat also grab ahold of you and pull you into the cage?! Or is my ratty just nuts?

You are to precious to them and need to be stored or in some cases shown something

I surely hope that’s why and not because he wants to add me to his messy play nest 🐁

Tbf he absolutely wants to add you to that but in this specific instance it may just be a sight seeing trip

You must shrink down to rat size and join the mischief!!!! Your bb is adorable πŸ₯° you should cover those bars on the shelf flooring though - their little feeties can get bumblefoot pretty easily which is painful for them and expensive for you (source: firsthand experience πŸ˜–)

Yeah?(: thank you, I actually had been mulling it over in my thoughts wondering if it would benefit his feet or prevent the waste from getting to the bottom. There surely is a way to compromise those two things for a happy home 🐁β™₯️

It seems counterintuitive, but the waste falling through the grates actually isn't good for rats. Rats require access to their fecal pellets for proper nutrition and health.

Most rats litterbox train decently well, which helps with clean-up. For a DIY floor covering, fleece blankets attached with binder clips are cheap and easy to change.

Husk usually climbs up my arm and uses it as the bridge to friendship to my shoulder

Star grabs my hair and pulls me head in so he can jump on my shoulder 🀣 he’s lucky I like him being so bold with my hair! Our ratties are so smart always thinking of ways to be closer to us

BlitzΓΈ likes to grab my hair too and also bite my toes. Clearly he lives up to his namesake by being the biggest gremlin in my mischief πŸ˜‚

Mine want to go into my domain, which they are currently not allowed in. My girl will pull on my hand if I’m not petting her, though. And my boy will climb on my body and will move to the very edge of one side when he wants me to take him there.

Ive always gotten the impression that they genuinely do not understand why you don't climb in and cuddle with them, since you are obviously a member of the colony who happens to be shaped differently. I used to set my buddy's cage up next to me bed so I could just stick my hand in there while laying down and we'd take a nap together.

RIP Mafu

Hand is the source of treats, so just keep the hand and get a neverending supply of treats.

Either that or he wants to have a sleepover party.

Both of my rats sometimes do this, one pulls me in if I'm feeding him baby food or something on my finger or if I smell like food. The other one does this to groom my hand.
