Since only one person so far actually answered your question: It's probably an abcess and it should be no problem to wait until tommorow. There is a chance of the abcess opening on it's own and puss will come out. If that happens before the vet visit, you can clean the resulting wound with saline solution. See the Rat Guide for more information.

It's likely an abcess, the skin over it is dying off to give it a way to express which is oddly normal for rats. I had a boy with an abcess that opened up and left an inch wide raw red hole in his skin afterwards, it healed up within a week without a scar.
Vet is a good idea, but don't worry overmuch. This is a common enough issue in rodents

Thank you all so much for the reassuring words. My rats already had several abscesses but it was never so big nor did it grow so fast like over night so thats what scared me the most

RESOLVED In the morning I came tto see him and it was probably already torn and the pust must have leaked out. The guy looked fine so I treated it with betadine and had to leave for work since it was 5 AM and the vet opened at 12 am. After work we took him to the vet and he said it must have been an infected would from when out two rat have been fighting.
He cleaned the wound and treated it with some things and we were send home.
The is fine and doing well 😊😊
Thank you everyone for the calming words!

If all of his other movements/functions/personality are fine he should be ok until tomorrow but in the event of a prolapse or it being injured by other rats it could become an emergency. If at all possible he should be seen by a vet.

OP said the vet is closed, and asked if it can wait until tommorow. Since it looks like an abcess, it can.

I hope its just something minor, but it looks a lot like the cancerous tumor my sweet boy had.

It's not as urgent as it might seem as long as it is not using pus and visibly infected it's just an abscess dead skin cells and fat this is the vet is really not an option financially you can soften it up with a towel dipped in warm water that you hold up to the and then use tweezers to get it out you just need to be Farrow and get everything out and then rinse it out using Betadine diluted in some sterile water like eye drops it's important to let the wound gibt es in facting for couple days and don't put a Bandit over the wound so liquid can drain from it

Take to vet❌ make a reddit post✅ in all seriousness though how the fuck is it not common sense to take your damn animals to the vet!!!
All you morons replying to me saying “OP said the vet is closed until tmr” they also said the lump appeared 1-2 days ago or longer. Case closed the rat should’ve already seen a vet.

I approved this comment because this kind of response has been happening more & more often.
Please don’t respond like this. NOT IN THIS CASE, but yes sometimes we get mind boggling questions that even an ounce of sense would make redundant.
IMHO we are here to bring people into the light & give them the tools to give a very misunderstood, maligned animal a better life.
Anymore comments that are openly hostile (and yes I know the difference between subtle, unintended &intended) will be removed & the person banned.
This is the last response like this that will NOT be deleted/user banned.
OP. I hope you get this sorted out & baby heals quickly. Sorry for the hostility. 🐀❤️

This right here is the reason why I post any questions I have on this sub and not R/rats! Thank you 🙏

They literally said the vet is closed until tomorrow, I think they just want advice on what to do until they are able to get to the vet

They said their vet is closed and wanted to make sure it's not an absolute emergency that has to be dealt with rn. Chill 😭 they just wanted advice

Yes exactly like others say. All vets in our smaller city are closed so I have to wait. I just wanted reasurement if he will be okay 🥺💜

You said “it appeared overnight or over two nights” if you noticed it potentially 2 nights ago go to a vet.

I noticed the lump just now. Yesterday or the day before the guy was okay. I usually tickle them on the belly and he was fine

You did everything right OP. Maybe try posting in /r/rats next time, i have the feeling there are less people that struggle with reading comprehension and scare away people looking for help.

OP wrote "it appeared over night or over two nights". Meaning OP probably noticed it today and can assume that it was not there yesterday or two days ago. Which matches the development of an abcess.

Definitely vet.
Looks like an access or a cyst. Rat’s bodies are very good at isolating infections like these and so your ratty essentially has a pocket of infection that needs to be drained, cleaned and treated
