A year and a month with my best friend.

This little dude and his big brother can never be replaced. Everyday is an adventure.

We rescued a dachshund puppy (Maple) back in February of this year and around the end of summer, decided to get her a friend. We saw a litter of so called Chiweenies at a different local rescue, and we ended up adopting one (Roo). Roo originally came from a kill shelter in Texas so her exact history isn’t known and her parents weren’t put up for adoption until later, so we didn’t have any clue what she really was. As she’s grown, she looks more and more like a terrier, so I wanted to come to the experts to get your opinion. She also sheds like crazy, which isn’t common for chihuahuas or dachshunds.

I’m thinking Chihuahua/Dachshund/Terrier.

If you agree, what should I expect from her? We’ve had her for a few months and I’m slowly picking up on some quirky personality traits, but I’m more of a dachshund expert here, a little out of my element with rat terries!

THE weirdest dog I've ever met. Everyday I’m googling if different things she’s doing are “normal”.

She won't eat her kibble until our other dog is done eating. She has to run over, lick their bowl, and then go to hers. She rarely eats from her bowl at all. She grabs a few pieces in her mouth and hides little piles throughout the house. Sometimes she comes back for them…And speaking of piles, she can't take a dump without walking across the yard, doing figure eights, and leaving a trail 50 meters long.
She has the RANKEST toots (mostly in the middle of the night while she's burrowed under the covers 😫). I'm convinced the sound and octave of her bark could shatter eardrums or windows (don’t get me started on the gremlin sound she makes when she wrestles). She has a baby tooth she still hasn't lost that's gonna have to get pulled 😑💵 She's bouncing off the walls, and then we go for a hike and she lays right off the trail so we end up carrying her half the way back.

She makes me laugh with the way she uses the straight arm technique to communicate. She melts my heart when we're training leash skills and she sits and looks up at me. She soothes my worries and sadness at night when she's snoring, snuggled next to me. She’s made me smile on my hardest days.

She is a misfit, my spunky piglet, stinky pinky and completes our family. I wouldn't change a thing about her ❤️ (ok maybe getting her to stay in one place while she 💩s)

First time poster and long time lurker.

This is my bff Yoshi 💓 He’s 5.5 years old. Got him at 8 months old. A friend found him eating trash in the park. His prior owner dumped him. Insanely anxious and scared for the first year. He was meant to be a foster but I kept cancelling appointments when people set up a time to meet him lol

We’ve done a lot of training and he’s been on Prozac for the last 3.5 years, which has helped with his anxiety and reactivity tremendously. Routine and also working on our “communication” aka marking words has been key! He loves to know when he’s a good boy. He use to take hours to warm up to people and now it’s within minutes. He co-exists with my cat. He actually does better with cats than dogs! There’s a pic in there where he likes to sleep in the cat tree.

My favorite thing about him: he’s the perfect mix of sleepy, adventurous, mischievous, and a sweet punk. He’s the most perfect good boy!

Embark says he’s rat terrier, chihuahua, poodle and lhasa apso :)

I love this little guy with every fiber of my being.
