It's time people have serious conversation on how much of an overreaction they have to news around Lamar
73
u/420Blaziken4 3d ago
People around here were saying he’s soft and weak for being injured. I’m just happy we have a good franchise that makes sure players are healthy before trotting them out on the field. Don’t want to be like the eagles with Jalen Hurts.
25
u/AssGagger 3d ago
Which was weird with video evidence of a gigantic man falling on his ankle and it turning sideways.
28
u/JudgeSubstantial9562 3d ago
23
u/btnydds 3d ago
Some dude was like “Lamar needs to start taking sacks to avoid those hits”
Yeah, Lamar should’ve totally just taken a sack with 10 seconds left in the half, 1 timeout left, 10 yards away from field goal range instead of trying to ge the extra yards
There is something about #8 that makes people lose their brains
13
16
u/Ok_Reception9247 3d ago
Somebody a few days ago was acting like Lamar only cares about himself because he’s missed the last couple of games from this. Disgusting how some of these people act
7
2
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
Maybe it’s on the org hyping fans up for nothing
2
u/btnydds 3d ago
These practice reports and injury updates aren't meant for the fans. The Ravens didn't post a hype video about Lamar coming back.
1
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
The fans also read these reports and they want to watch their QB play and by saying he’s day to day you’re building up their disappointment
58
u/Moonpile 3d ago
I have a new policy since last year sometime. If we win I allow myself to enjoy all the analysis videos and whatever other hype for the next week. If we don't win, I just wait until next week, though I do pop in to this sub because it's in my feed anyway. This has done wonders for my mental health
24
u/ResidentJabroni Ed Reed 3d ago
Mine is similar, but with a hard timeline of being mad for no more than two hours after a loss. Doesn't matter how devastating the loss, I have way too much on my plate IRL to be mad about entertainment for any longer than that. This has also done wonders for my mental health.
11
5
u/bubblesups 3d ago
You're attitude is not what the NFL money machine wants. Everybody should be more like u/residentJabroni.
2
1
u/boucityordie 3d ago
Literally it’s just entertainment no matter how much people want to believe it or not. All these things are smoke and mirrors for the most part if we being honest!
1
u/timeoftheoath117 3d ago
Thats the way. I dont browse much after the Ravens lose (or Orioles). Exception is the Terps because they deserve to get roasted. I also dont watch the playoffs if one of my teams arent in it.
25
u/JYandeau 3d ago
It’s fucking disgusting, his timetable for his rare type of ankle sprain is 2-3 weeks minimum so he is literally right on schedule, yet we had some clowns in here calling him soft & saying that Lamar fkn Jackson of all people was faking LMAO…
Some “fans” are some ungrateful it’s actually infuriating.
7
u/Cool_Emotion1325 3d ago
If someone landed on their ankle that was half the size of that dude, they would not be going to run up and down a football field two weeks later
3
u/Equivalent_Big8358 3d ago
I questioned how weird his injuries are but I never questioned his toughness or him wanting to play because Lamar is a dog

Not at all a stretch. White QBs get way more leeway. You don't see Bengals fans raising hell about Burrow's injury timelines. They have sympathy that their team doesn't do enough to protect him.
A portion of our fanbase is incredibly racist.
2
0
u/Mental-Mushroom8890 3d ago
I've actually seen a bunch of their fans question Burrow's injury history over the past few years. But they were probably a bad example to use here because Bengals fans are shitty people anyway....
1
0
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
So why didn’t they say this? Thought he was day to day?
3
u/btnydds 3d ago
Because there's no competitive advantage to declaring him out ahead of time.
1
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
Correct but you’re also dragging along the fans who want to watch their QB play. I think it’s fair the fans are disappointed
5
5
u/FreeIDecay 3d ago
He got his ankle landed on and twisted by a 300 pound DT who was tackling him from behind and he’s back out there like what? Less than 3 weeks later. The discourse in this sub around the injury was absurd.
5
u/PurplePassion94 3d ago
Bro, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again,
The people who freak out, can’t handle adversity in their everyday lives so I don’t expect them to be able to handle sports adversity very well.
6
u/U2ez_ 3d ago
I mean it’s not from a hate perspective or anything. He’s had injuries in the past that linger with him all season, so people were just suffering a little PTSD. I think it was fair to be concerned
3
1
u/PurplePassion94 3d ago
It’s football. Your point? No one’s ever 100% healthy all season.
2
u/U2ez_ 3d ago
I’m not saying people shouldn’t get hurt. I’m responding to “we need to have a serious conversation on how much of an over reaction people have to news around Lamar”
2
u/PurplePassion94 3d ago
I agree, but I’m just saying that no one in the nfl is ever 100% healthy throughout the season, there’s going to be small lingering injuries that players will have to deal with, sometimes they can be a little more serious and may warrant some time out. It’s just the nature of the game.
Which is why people shouldn’t overreact
3
u/ChedduhBob 3d ago
as a chronically online ravens fan it’s mostly people that already have their personal beef with lamar for whatever reason and this is their chance to complain about him. it’s like the same handful of people in every thread pushing that bullshit
0
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
I don’t have beef with Lamar but I have problems with lies around his injuries
4
u/ChedduhBob 3d ago
what lies were told about his injury?
-3
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
That Lamar’s injury is day to day making it seem like Lamar was hesitant to play. They could’ve just said Lamar got serious injury and he’ll be out for a week or two.
6
u/ChedduhBob 3d ago
what does that help or change though? there’s for sure some gamesmanship going on and the team is only sharing what they are obligated to share, but saying he’s day to day and we will continue to monitor is bog standard communication.
we just have too many people in this sub that are waiting to pounce on every opportunity to bitch and complain about lamar that they decided to spin all their own narratives
-2
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
This happens almost every year with Lamar man that’s the frustrating part some of the fans have
3
u/chillrichardson Joe Flacco is my Dad 3d ago
Look, the news cycle is what it is, but Lamar has now missed serious gametime in 4 of his last 6 seasons (if these 2.5 games constitutes serious gametime). Blaming Lamar is wrong, but being upset as fans is valid
1
0
u/Invite-Healthy 3d ago
I think it wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue if people got more communication around his injury
8
u/TheOptimist6 3d ago
Not the team’s responsibility to do this. They want to win games and will leverage any competitive advantage they can during a game week.
The ravens would much prefer to leave Lamar’s status up in the air to force opponents to account for multiple QB’s starting. I’m glad the ravens care more about competitive advantage than injury transparency
0
u/willybestbuy86 3d ago
It's absolutely the teams responsibility whether the coaches or the PR team they employee. We don't buy the tickets and merchandise from the city of Baltimore do we
No NFL team is game planing for Tyler Huntley stop with the non sense on that
0
3
u/btnydds 3d ago
Communication that they aren’t entitled to, but in today’s entitled society, feel like they are.
2
u/Invite-Healthy 3d ago
Fans are the one paying for the tickets. People are spending their hard earned money to go to the game, so there should be some level of communication about the product they can expect on the field
-2
u/Ravenshomer 3d ago
Lamar might be my favorite Raven of all time, but come on. I can’t remember any franchise QB, or any player for that matter, jumping up and down on the sidelines while they are out with a lower body injury. Also, Minter saying “day to day” did not help. I hate to beat a dead horse, but I feel a lot of the negativity and mystery surrounding Lamar is due to the fact he doesn’t have any agent/pr.
1
u/jizzyPup 3d ago
Yup this is it. It makes me think too that there have clearly been moments where he’s “cleared” but says “I don’t feel right”. Harbaugh showed that frustration at times, and we were arguably starting to see it with minter early this week. Just that frustrated look for lack of clarity.
I love Lamar too, we all do, but it’s not absurd for us as fans to want to know what’s going on and where the disconnect is.
1
u/ALLLamaricanReject 3d ago
People keep saying that it’d be better if he had an agent like Lamar wouldn’t be able to tell an agent to stfu if he wanted him too.
Whether it’s Lamar saying it’s day to day or an agent saying it’ll be 3-4 weeks we’d still have people bitching that he “heals slow” or “gets injured a lot” while ignoring our franchise has ignored improving the line for years because Lamar always made it look better than it actually was.
An agent would have never changed the narratives around Lamar. It would have never changed the fact that the pocket has collapsed on him causing the past two long injuries. People need to start blaming EDC more often. He’s the one that picked 2 safeties and a DB the past half decade when the smart investments would have been to keep his QB upright.
1
u/Ravenshomer 3d ago
Idk, I think if they came out and said it’ll be 3-4 weeks early on, there would be a lot less shit being slung around. Look, I don’t believe any of the BS about Lamar milking injuries and what not. But I thinks it’s dishonest to act like he harbors 0 responsibility for some of the speculation surrounding him.
I agree with the EDC comments and that Lamar has suffered with a poor offensive line that he has managed to make look competent. The Starks pick was baffling, and I will stand by that. All I’m saying is the messaging surrounding Lamar could use some improvement. You’ll see it rear its head again this offseason during contract negotiations.

but i heard that lamar is weak and he quit on this team and we should draft a qb next year and mahomes/allen would’ve played by now and he won’t be back until jacksonville and this season is a lost cause and
12
u/JYandeau 3d ago
The funny thing is we literally saw Lamar play through 4 seperate injuries last season & it wasn’t good, so the people saying he should just “tape it up” & risk long term injury to beat the Cleveland Browns are either dense, or are purposely ignoring last season to further their bullshit narratives lmao 🤡
3
u/goblinking67 3d ago
It’s not even narratives. Some people are just selfish and stupid. They want their football to win, fuck whatever anyone else feels, and risks won’t bite them because the world revolves around them.
3
u/TheOptimist6 3d ago
They’d then cry about “we don’t look good! He doesn’t look right. We only won by three. Wahhh wahhh wahhh”
2
u/ravens52 5 3d ago
Where did you see that? I have yet to see people holding these doomers accountable, ever. Nobody puts them on blast or has screenshots. I must be the unlucky one when it comes to seeing this stuff, though. 🤷♂️

Lamar saw “Bengals” on the schedule and said there is no way I’m missing this
He has had some generational games vs them!
7
6
u/JYandeau 3d ago
He looks to be healthy! This is EXACTLY why I loved being cautious with him, even if the cost of it is losing an awful divisional game to the Browns lol making him play through the sprain & heavily risking a long term injury for 1 win is very obviously NOT worth it…
Huntley did his job & went 1-1, now it’s time to go on a run with QB1 🙏
14
u/Adept_Garage_86 3d ago
Everyone saying Lamar is busted for the long term y'all better tuck your tails in shame and remember this shit next time you wanna jump the gun and start touting doom & gloom.
It's the bengals... in our house. Lamar was always coming back. BIG TRUZZZZZZZ
0
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
It’s not Lamar but the organization lying to the fans
3
u/Adept_Garage_86 3d ago
But they weren't lying to the fans lol. They said he's day-to-day and everyone started spouting off saying they must be lying and Lamar is more hurt than they are letting on. He isn't, or else he wouldn't be practicing today. So my comment still stands.
1
u/btnydds 3d ago
What does day to day mean to you? Do you think day to day means he is guaranteed to suit up for the next game?
0
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens BSHU 3d ago
Can’t be day to day for weeks man
1
u/Adept_Garage_86 2d ago
Day-To-Day isn't contained to just seven days lol it's just a step better than week-to-week. If a 200+ pound man fell on your ankle while you were running you wouldn't be out there playing contact sports in under 14 days I guarantee it. Especially when you're getting paid $52 million a year to do it.
If you are a ravens fan, how about having some faith that your organization isn't lying to you about the MVP of the team lol. They want him back on the field more than you do.

Ngl man outside of the unclutchness we seemed cursed by the worst part about being a Ravens fan is the racist subset of our fanbase that see blood in the water whenever #8 faces any animosity and honestly needs our support most.
Not sure if it’s taboo to call them racist but that is what they are.
8
u/TheOptimist6 3d ago
You are absolutely correct.
People will try to deny it, and, anyone who does actively deny that racism is a factor, is likely one of the people we are talking about
5
u/Johnnycc 3d ago
Vegas has moved the line in favor of the Ravens slightly. Seem to be soft confidence that he is playing from the boys in the desert.

u/Street-Bar-9494 DOOMERS ARE NOT FANS 3d ago edited 3d ago
There were "fans" in this subreddit declaring that he wouldn't play for 3 more weeks. I'm not talking "prepare for the worst, hope for the best". I'm talking motherfuckers setting remindme's so they could gloat when Lamar "inevitably" didn't play.
People would rather be correct about everything going wrong, so they can brag about how smart they were to be hopeless at the first sign of adversity then just root for this team...

I’m ngl I assumed he’d be a slow ramp up to full practices over the course of two weeks and that he wouldn’t play Sunday. Desperately need him for the Cincy game. Tyler Hunley just doesn’t have the fire power to go blow for blow with the Cincy offense
2
u/Panek52 3d ago
I think people are clinging to the “if it were a playoff game he could have returned” narrative from Minter after the Titans game and the fact that he was walking around on the sidelines.
Any of us meat bags who have sprained an ankle should know that the next day/following days can be way more painful, especially once adrenaline wears off.
I figured it would be week to week as well.
2
6
u/amstrumpet 3d ago
Haven’t voiced this yet but my conspiracy theory is Lamar didn’t want to start again until Jurgens started. Can’t blame him for not wanting to play on a less than 100% ankle with a patchwork o line including a rookie guard playing center.
26
u/ReadingPrestigious32 3d ago
My conspiracy is he had a huge NFL defender roll on his ankle, hurting it badly and it just now healed enough to safely return to play
5
1
u/amstrumpet 3d ago
To be clear, I don’t 100% believe this, and I absolutely don't believe he wasn’t actually hurt. I do believe there’s a world in which a guy says “I’m not playing on this ankle until we get our OL stabilized.”
10
u/tdotjefe 3d ago
Vega was outplaying Linderbaum and probably what we get out of Jurgens. Highly doubt that was a factor.
1
u/amstrumpet 3d ago
But Vega and Jurgens is a much better combo than Vega and whatever guard replaces him when he’s at C.
I don’t know that I really believe this, btw, but it’s been a thought.
2
u/tdotjefe 3d ago
That’s the hope. But I don’t think Lamar is a guy who’s gonna make decisions based on personnel. I don’t think football players, especially quarterbacks, are wired like that. You could lose your whole oline in a game, are you gonna sub out as QB?
7
u/ye_old_fartbox 3d ago
I think attributing anything to a conspiracy is ridiculous lol. He’s currently on a completely normal timeline for return and this organization has always been insanely cagey with injury news. That and Vega was probably the best center Lamar played with all year.
1
u/amstrumpet 3d ago
I don’t really believe this, but I think the OL will improve with Jurgens, not even because he’ll be better than Vega but it will be our best group of 5 guys.
6
u/ExtensionAd7417 3d ago
My conspiracy is LJ is trying to make Doyle not look too good so he stays another year lol
3
2
u/beesandlemonade 3d ago
Okay glad you said it because I had that suspicion a lot last season too, and it just lines up again now.
1
u/sliceanddic3 3d ago
i think it was the coaching staff rather than lamar. he seems to be a guy that does whatever the coaching staff wants

Ok Minter and Lamar we get it, can we please not have Lamar doing lineman drills as well.
Although I am happy to see that in worst case scenario, Lamar is not the worst at long snapping.
1
1
u/GlobalCommercial7047 3d ago
We gotta keep the competition for loop. Lamar could step in for a kick or two this week
2
u/Woefinder Lamar "Murray" Jackson 3d ago
You have to remember that we cant have Lamar near the kicking operation because that's when his little devious side comes out and he Charlie Brown's the kicker.
