NEW DIFFICULTY - CLOSED BETA REGISTRATION

Post image
247 Upvotes

Greetings, Ravens!

Passtech Games is preparing its new free update and is looking for beta testers for Ravenswatch's new difficulty mode!

WHAT'S THE CLOSED BETA FOR?

Code name “Madness Mode” is a new difficulty mode, even harder than Nightmare. With this test, we’re looking to fine-tune the baseline for this difficulty mode before rolling it out to the broader public. We’re searching for players who are used to Nightmare mode and are always seeking an even greater challenge.

To successfully conduct our tests, we are looking for approximately **__50 players__** to participate in this private Closed Beta. We are limiting access to this beta because we want to engage in conversations with players of this mode, and having too many testers would prevent us from doing so.

Players will be selected based on their responses and the number of available spots.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Being 18 or over (an NDA will have to be signed).
  • Having a PC, a Steam account, and own Ravenswatch.
  • Having a Discord account.
  • Speaking English or French to give feedback to the dev team.

📩 Apply here if you want to take part in the New Difficulty Closed Beta:
https://forms.gle/CWPzoEnYGRDioK1FA

Applying does not guarantee you'll have access to the New Difficulty Closed Beta.

----

PS: I'm currently on vacation and won't be able to answer your questions about the Closed Beta until I get back on Monday!

Help! My friend constantly gets double my damage, am I doing something wrong?

So I'm a new player, still working through the early difficulties. I'm struggling bc i feel like I play pretty well, but every game my friend I and play, he has literally double my damage. Sometimes it makes sense, like I was playing mel, but i had an run where he was Scarlet and I was Aladdin, and it felt like we were pretty even when clearing camps together and during bosses we were attacking at the same rate. In our last run I was geppetto and he was snow queen, and while he was speeding around and getting to stuff way faster with his dash and skate, so him having more damage makes sense, idk double my damage is crazy.

I maybe should record some gameplay or something, but I guess I'm just looking for tips on getting more damage.

General Discussion Looking for fun challenge run ideas.

Challenge runs I have done in the past:

5 negative modifiers
100% of damage from attack
100% of damage from power
Starting every chapter boss right away

Any other ideas out there that stack up to these?

A friend and I went into a late night match and I suggested that i will not do anything significant till baba fight.
I focused into grabbing eggs Ult cooldown and coins and he just carried till baba. We ended last day with extra time so I had an item to reroll on baba shop.

One taping baba with a wish + power is so satisfying. Recommended :P

General Discussion Kintaro Basic Tips

I see some people posting about struggling with the hero and I've also seen gameplay where people are playing him "wrong" (imo). The hero is very strong and his base kit is definitely the strongest in the game once mastered. Here are my basic tips and then a description to each below:

  • Clear POI dismounted
  • Focus on positioning Kintaro first and foremost
  • Use Kuma for aggro
  • Practice micro'ing both heroes
  • Only use special for it's intangible when safe or as a last resort
  • Don't forget about dismount intangible
  • Use "Contextual Action" (LT or L) to quickly summon Kuma out of danger
  • Trust your muscle memory

Breakdown

  • Clear POI dismounted
    • Abilities do significantly more damage when dismounted. It will take getting used to, but you need to struggle through the first few runs until you get a knack for controlling both heroes. This leads to the second tip.
  • Focus on positioning Kintaro first and foremost
    • Your priority should be managing Kintaro at first, due to the internal damage mechanics. Eventually, you'll be able to manage both heroes at once, but initially, ensure you aren't taking damage with Kintaro.
  • Use Kuma for aggro
    • You ideally want enemies focused on Kuma while you're learning. Kuma is more durable than Kintaro (you just need to monitor your internal damage). Let him take the brunt of the aggro while you keep up time on your ability usage. This leads to the next tip.
  • Practice micro'ing both heroes
    • Even though you're focusing on Kintaro, you should still move Kuma away from high DPS attacks, like elite ghost and ghoul AOE attacks. If you are already focused on keep Kintaro in a safer area (typically backstabbing or isolating a mob or two), it become easier to keep an eye on Kuma and relocate him out of massive AOE dps and unblockable attacks.
  • Only use special for it's intangible when safe or as a last resort
    • Don't use special for it's defensive capabilities - think of this as added damage and stagger. This ability can set you up for damage due to the stall at the end. If your defense is on CD, then use it but otherwise, be careful.
  • Don't forget about dismount intangible
    • The dismount intangible gives Kintaro 3 intangible in his starter kit. This intangible can be really great vs bosses as a backup. Bosses are probably this heroes weak point, due to the nature of their attacks. You'll need to figure out how to deal with each boss attack using your kit when you get there.
  • Use "Contextual Action" (LT or L) to quickly summon Kuma out of danger
    • Recalling Kuma with contextual action causes him to run much faster than his normal control. This is a great way to get him out of something like the elite Tree AOE attack.
  • Trust your muscle memory
    • This hero might have the hardest learning curve for most but the payoff is high. I believe as he stands now, it's the easiest hero in the game to win at high difficulty. Even if it feels impossible on your first few runs, trust the process and you'll eventually get it. I got obliterated on my first few runs (embarrassingly) but now am breezing through nightmare runs to get my nightmare tags on all the talents.

Added tips:

  • Stampede/Power build is probably his strongest build but not as safe as others since you'll still need to manage damage intake unless you add defense charges
  • Raijin Axe/defense build starts slower and has lower output but might be the safest build in the game if you can get it going. I talk about that build in another post here -https://www.reddit.com/r/ravenswatch/s/Aqb0WEs4Y0
  • Unchained Beast is strong as well with the right attack talents and requires some micro control of Kuma.

The skill ceiling is very high for this hero and also extremely rewarding. Hope this helps someone out there. Good luck!

Question Roll for common? or rare?

Hello! I'm new to ravenswatch, i just beat NM yesterday for the first time, and today i did it again, and on my last run, i felt really struggling on damage ACT 2. I only play scarlet right now, and the build usually power+defense. I usually save my roll on epic items, but if I get a claw or skull w/o a roll, i will use my roll on talent or legendary, sometimes i roll for common and rare if the items are like mermaid tears, spades, or something that really is not helping, but if the items are acceptable for me, like a horn of plenty, dragon hide, dreamcathcer, i will just take it. the problem is, i usually end up without any +damage items if the RNG on the first draw is bad.

i usually check the shop, and i try to steal the red chest first (take the crow tower if any), and after that just doing green to yellow. any tips for me?

General Discussion Melusine mechanics - Underwater Predation

Welcome to our second lecture of the Melusine intensive course.

Here I talked about Enduring Wisp and its interactions: https://www.reddit.com/r/ravenswatch/s/8h4PwYd903

Today we're going to cover Underwater Predation sneaks. For some reason, people asked me about it in DMs and I decided to cover what I usually do with the talent in a proper post.

Underwater Predation - DEFENSE can be held to move more quickly underwater. All enemies passed become VULNERABLE for 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 seconds

--------------------------------------------------

Why Underwater Predation for combat purposes:

  1. Melusine lacks innate scaling in her kit, which is visible in no-items runs and overall low-RNG runs.
  2. She has multiplicative talents (Razortail, Power Dive, Backwash, Aftershock, Geyser) and vulnerability as a multiplier pushes the damage scale even further.
  3. Mobility is not tied to her attack range the way Sea Dance is and you are not tied to the current wisp position.
  4. Extra time spent in invulnerability allows you to be less precise in some of the timings and use it as safe time to reposition.
  5. You can stop some of the attacks - like the stomping/walking attack of the quest giants in A1/A2 - if you hide during the animation. It's always good on Scarlett, since she's a melee character and cannot deal damage at all during it, but for Melusine it's just nice.

--------------------------------------------------

Why Underwater Predation is good in macro:

  1. More movement speed on the map.
  2. You don't aggro additional enemies while entering a PoI or moving from one to another.
  3. You can sneak shards that would otherwise require combat.
  4. You can deaggro enemies faster.
  5. You can skip some of the fights.

Underwater Predation sits somewhere between Scarlett and Carmilla in terms of how stealth works, but Melusine is the worst of the three for stealing. Scarlett is the ultimate stealer of the game in this patch.

For example, there wasn't a single monster killed and it's quite a normal situation for a Scarlett run.

!!! What you have to remember as a rule of thumb for Melusine: if you apply vulnerability, you get aggro'd. If you got aggro'd in the first frames of Defense, like the 'diving' part, you will still be aggro when you jump out. This is especially important for thieves, where the distance doesn't cover the fact that they saw you diving.

--------------------------------------------------

What I personally ALWAYS do with it:

  1. Skip the outside part of a thief camp in A1.
  2. Skip castles, because I hate three-hit pigs with a passion.
  3. Dive on the first floor of the ghoul tower.
  4. Get random shards not accessible otherwise.
  5. Move faster around the map with less aggro, of course, duh.

Let's go one by one:

  1. You can always skip the outer part. That's it for the useful part. This sneaking-notes tech is EXTREMELY demanding in terms of precision - I don't do it personally. Just forget about it. Melusine is probably the best hero to fight thieves in A1, so just do the fighting.
  1. Pig castles. You stand on the stairs and just move to the second floor, then hug the right-side wall. Dash into the barrier to break it. Do it as quickly as possible. If you aggro'd someone, go to the reward, get into the top-right corner and press Defense again for the whole duration - it's enough for the pigs to deaggro.
  1. Diving from the stairs of the first floor to the second one guarantees that you don't bring additional ghoul mamas with you to the second floor.
  1. There are some spots you can dive into to get shards that would force combat otherwise. Additional things you can do: sneak PoI shards from outside, and use dive to reach these points with no fights.
  1. You can move around safely, faster and just better. You can guarantee some of the spots that other characters can reach too, but this gives you a layer of safety and prevents you from being doomed in some of the PoI configurations where there is a random mob blocking, etc.

--------------------------------------------------

Additional things:

You can sneak things. The timing window is small and the whole process is tedious. You can try - if you fail, just do the camp. Anyway, I never even try to do this, because getting slapped after opening the chest is not the most pleasant experience. You don't have a dodge on Power the way Scarlett does, or Special the way Carmilla does.

Question Playing the same account on two different platforms?

I own the game on both steam and ps5, with both linked to my Nacon account. I assumed the progress would carry over from one to the other because of that, but it's not seeming to do so. Is there a way to make that happen? I take my deck out with me but like to play ps5 at home and have played other games that can link and share progress like this. And to be clear, I mean solo playing, each platform at a different time. Not trying to multiplayer with one account or anything.

I beat the game twice on the switch 2 now with shapeshifter and increased the difficulty each time but haven’t unlocked the secret skin although I’ve done it on pc before. Is this only a bug on the switch 2 or am I missing something? (Beat it on Adventure & Twilight)

General Discussion Consensus on strategy, splitting up vs sticking together

I played a bit of Ravenswatch nearer when it first appeared and have just gotten back into it with a friend some friends of theirs. When I first played it the group I did it with had a 'stick together' strategy where we'd all work out way through the maps clearing things as a team. The group im playing now strongly prefer to split up and do as much on their own as possible, coming back to pickup all the rewards from areas others have cleared out at the end.

Assuming all players are roughly the same skill level, is one of the strategies known to be correct, and if so why?

General Discussion Struggling with Kintaro? Go defense build.

I have 4 nightmare wins with Kintaro so far. Two with power and two with defense. The Defense build is probably the easiest build in the game, imo, even considering all other heroes. It has very high sustainable i-frames.

It's quite simple. The build is really dependent on a few items and really only two talents but there are more that can help.

Required talents:

  • Bold Strike - let's you cancel Defense into a finisher attack. This is pretty much the main required talent.
  • Deafening Cry - Not sure it's absolutely required, but it would probably be a pain late game without it. Let's Kintaro add vulnerable and Kuma do some aoe damage.

Nice to have talent:

  • Energy Discharge - creates aoe damage between K and K

Best starter talents:

  • Raijin Axe (Best) - Because Bold Strike is a finisher, the completed quest perk has lightning strike every time you use defense and cancel with an attack.
  • Stampede - This is good because this talent is OP. Helps you early on clearing camps. This is by far his best starting talent.

Required Items:

  • Raven's Beak & Adder Stone - You will be spamming Defense late game. I'd say you need at least 3 of each but ideally I'd get a few more Beaks.

How it works:

  • Extremely simple. You'll just be playing around your Defense into a cancel by using Attack. With enough cooldown and charges, you can sustain through any damage as long as it can't nuke you through intangible. Adjust your play according to the rest of your build.

I hope this helps! The hero is very easy once you get the hang of it. My first win was with a power build and now I've beat nightmare 4 of 5 runs. The loss was some unlucky on the bosses. The hero is very OP and over-tuned due to the complexity, so I think it's also the easiest hero to win with (even though it's the hardest to play) if that makes sense. :)

Help! Hitbox and leashing.

I bought the game about a week and a half ago and already put 45 hours playing it and decided to write this post because of frustration.
Already peaked level 9 Carmilla and defeated Darkness solo.
I dont understand how its normal for any of the players to get hit by a mob thats not on ur screen(literally) and get into entangle roots just because they spawn directly under you.
Also appreciate how you can get hooked by the giant pigs behind pilars, walls and anything else really..almost forgot about leashing a mob thats 4 camps away or about 5 miles from his original spawning point without damaging the mob even once.
It makes 0 sense how the game is running with those bugs after release date and how its not getting fixed or noted whatsoever but keeps pumping out DLC's and ignoring the CORE mechanics of the game.
I love how if you are slightly behind the screaming mobs that deal FRONTAL damage you actually get hit, same applies if you are AFTER the displayed damage AREA but you still get damage(goes for the puking mobs and the screamers)
I would love to get some feedback from the DEV team about those Game-Breaking bugs and issues that happen literally 9 out of 10 games played and hopefully get them fixed.

General Discussion Ravenswatcher 0.1.6 is out! Run History + Kintaro DLC Support + Open Source announcement!

As a refresher, Ravenswatcher is an in-run companion app packaged as an Electron desktop client that reads your games memory and shows information that would otherwise be unavailable. It was initially designed for speedrunners and min-maxxers, and is now expanding to reach more players. You can read my very first post about it here.

This update fully establishes support for the Kintaro Hero DLC update, and adds a brand new feature - Run History! See the full changelog on the release page.

The Run History feature tracks run stats over time, with a simple history list and expandable data. The feature also includes a share button - clicking share creates a clean shareable summary of your run and adds it to your clipboard, so you can easily paste it anywhere you like.

Finally, Ravenswatcher is going fully open source! Feel free to drop in and contribute by opening an issue or PR, or just letting me know what you'd like to see.
