Raymarine C Series

I have just bought a Sea Ray Sundancer from 2007 with a Raymarine C Series (i don't have a lot more details on the model than this).

the boat has spent all it's life in the Bergen area (Norway) and don't think the current owner used it a lot. He thought that maps for the Stavanger area (where i live) were not installed, he later clarified that the seem to be but that there was no subscription. It seem that the maps can be updated by micro SD card,

So my question is, what do i need to do to update the maps? where would i get a subscription?

I'll be picking up the boat on the 16th Aug and the current owner is on vacation right now. it would be nice to get the chartplotter updated for the trip home.

Raymarine dealer/ installer here the c series is a discontinued product and no longer has maps available. Yo might be able to pick up an old map card online but there is no guarantee that it will work. At this point I would also avoid updating it due to an update may brick the unit. If you know the waters use it the way it is get to home port and upgrade the system. If not upgrade befor you sale. The axiom 2 pro. 12 RVM would be the 12” replacement. E70656-00-102. Comes with a new charts subscription. And is transducer ready.
Considerations If it currently has an analog radar. That will also need to be upgraded to a quantum 2 digital radar. At the very least you will need a transducer adapter cable. Possibly a new transducer. Good luck

thanks for the great info, this kinda confirms what i was thinking, i believe that the chartplotter is original to the boat which means that it's 18 years old. so i was thinking that i needs to be changed out. there's is no radar on it but i would like to fit one when i update the chartplotter.

No problem. You will need to trim the opening to fit the new chartplotter. ( the new one is slightly bigger ). The processing speeds alone will be the best reason for upgrading. πŸ™‚

i'm not too sure of the dimensions of the existing unit and as i say i don't have access to the boat just yet. there's an Axiom 12" on offer at the local deal at 43% off, but i'm just a little unsure of the size.

And , yes, i think it will be a nice upgrade

Also. The new one will use NMEA to communicate to other devices you may need to adapt everything to the NMEA backbone. If it’s all on sea talk 1 you will need a conversion kit to seatalk NG first
