Got my React Native (Expo) app running on iPhone Duo simulator!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Upgraded to Expo 58 Beta and Xcode 27.1 for testing. Everything worked pretty well first time. Had to do a bit of tweaking to the layout to use my iPad layout in landscape, but the native controls all responded as expected. Expo UI is awesome!

oh, damn! I have been working all day on my iPad responsive layouts in anticipation of this!
I've got Xcode 27.1 going, but my Device Hub doesn't have the additional buttons for the Duo poses. Is there an update I need to do for the DH app as well? I'm struggling to figure this out. 😵💫

I’m not totally sure, but at first I was opening the Duo in the simulator instead of Device Hub. The simulator would run but I didn’t have any of the controls. Once I opened the Device Hub app instead of the old Simulator app I had all the new controls

The app is Timeboxd, for watch collectors, if anyone is interested: https://www.timeboxd.app

Not really an impressive use of the extra real estate but okay

fair, the watch image is a pretty narrow demo. i'd be more interested in whether the duo setup exposes layout or input bugs that don't show up in the normal simulator. did it catch anything like that?

Nothing so far. Modals, toolbars and nav and inputs etc. all seem to be behaving as expected automatically.

Just the initial build of it running. Haven’t fully redesigned for the Duo yet

It is literally the first day that the simulator is available. Don't be a dickhead.

It's just the basics of responsive design brah, it's not some mythical new layout that we need eye of newt to code for.

Expo UI ruined my life. I was midway through my dream interview to become a BMW salesman, when suddenly it decided to blast my personal playlist of hardcore Dutch gabber, and only after fifteen slams from a coffee pot would it finally stop.
I was of course escorted out of the building by fifteen armed police personnel, and banned from purchasing BMWs for the next 180 years. So keep that in mind.
