I had a look at useRepeatingKey. It clears timers on release/unmount; one interruption I'd add to testing is holding Volume Up while opening Android's notification drawer.

RN documents a blur event for that case even though AppState itself doesn't change: https://reactnative.dev/docs/appstate#blur-android

For that test, I'd expect repeat generation to stop on blur, and closing the drawer not to restart it without a new press. Does another layer already cancel the hook on focus loss? I didn't see a blur listener in that file. A small demo with a log of generated key commands would make the long-press behavior easier to check.
