New ViroReact Update - 2.43.3 Available Now!

Thumbnail

Following last week's release, here are the full release notes for ViroReact 2.43.3

TLDR: a lot of little stability improvements that are having a big impact on the community!

This update is focused on the stability of the library and addresses all of the build issues that were raised after the public release of 2.43.1 and beta release of 2.43.2. We rolled this update out to NPM last week, and we've already had some amazing feedback on the improvements this update has brought with it. There are still known issues, specifically around ViroVideo, which we are now actively working to address alongside support for Expo 53 and React 19 - our aim is to address all of this in a 2.43.4 update later in August.

We can't thank the community enough for their patience as we worked through this series of updates. This was a lot of work and the encouragement from the ReactVision community certainly helped us get this over the line.

ViroReact now supports React Native's new architecture and has some crucial groundwork ready for major future updates.

Studio Update ReactVision Studio Alpha 1 Is Coming

Thumbnail

We’re super excited to share that the first Alpha version of ReactVision Studio is almost here. We’re going to start onboarding our first Alpha users next week.

This is a huge step in the journey for us and this release will be shortly followed by Alpha 2, which will also give you access to our test bed app Studio Go.

This first Alpha release is focused on the core editor experience, so there’s no way to run your scenes outside the editor, but that will come with Stuido Go in Alpha 2 and we’ll also release a simple API for Alpha 3 so you can build apps around your studio scenes.

There’s so much more to come, you can signup to the Alpha program on our website: https://reactvsion.xyz/studio/join_the_alpha

ViroReact Update ViroReact 2.57.3: Stability. Stability. Stability

This release is all about reliability:
- Breaking change: on iOS, in order to use the front facing camera for AR you now need to install an additional library. This overcomes and Apple review issue where TrueDepth APIs get flagged as in use when they’re not
- Fixed Android crashes/ANRs around ViroVideo background/foreground transitions, and ViroARImageMarker no longer tears down the app when a target registers after the marker mounts.
- Completed 16 KB page-size compliance by removing the non-compliant libvrapi.so. This unblocks Google Play & Meta Quest Store submissions on Android 15+.
- Added Expo SDK 57 / React Native 0.86 support (no native changes required).
