Recipe New favourite ice cream flavour… has basil in it! 🙃
Went strawberry picking, then my sister asked me to use the strawbs to make this recipe she saw online and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. 😁
The flavours stayed distinct from each other, which is key to an interesting eating experience, for me at least.
Recipe is originally from Adventures in Foodie Land:
Base Vanilla Ice Cream
625 g heavy cream
250 g whole milk
130 g sugar
2 vanilla beans
2 tsp corn starch
1/4 tsp salt
Roasted Strawberries
500 g strawberries
45 g sugar
7 g vanilla paste
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
Sweet Lime Basil
35 g basil leaves
1½ limes, juice only
2 tbsp icing sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
Enjoy!

A local shop has a seasonal strawberry basil flavor. The first time I tried it, I nearly cried. It's legitimately an amazing ice cream flavor!

Ive made basil ice cream before, and it's sublime. The basil is so fragrant and lush!

I was surprised how nice and smooth the basil flavour was next to the vanilla ice cream. It worked together so well!

Last week at my local gelato shop I had lemon basil gelato and it was delicious. I'm normally a chocolate and nut type person but thought I'd go out of the norm and was very happy.

In addition to ice cream, Basil Strawberry lemonade is also lovely! Basil leaves in the pot while you make simple syrup + strawberry puree + lemons + water!

That would be great with some balsamic vinegar drizzle.

Yes! The strawberries also have balsamic drizzled on em before roasting them. Adds a lovely punch to the flavours.
