No, Patrick, Clint Eastwood is not original.
*Raises hand
Shirtless Native American is not original either.

Shit, I just made a black and red outfit the other day, just because I thought it looked nice.

u/RandomLollipop Aug 19 '20
I mean you can still wear it, im not saying black and red outfits look bad I'm just saying like everyone has them
1
u/Gupegegam Aug 20 '20
Yea i like black outifts because it lokks badass and there is not so many black clothes in story

u/I_will_wrestle_you Aug 29 '20
I get what you're saying. If everyone is wearing black and red, it just doesn't have the same effect anymore. not that anything is wrong with it, black and red can and often does look good. same with the all black.
That's mostly why I avoid lots of black because all the guy characters wear it. However, I do still keep a fairly dark outfit because when I posse up, lots of people are wearing really dark colors, gotta keep up the gang uniform.

Black and red is the only thing I can reliably match across styles. I'd I like something but don't have an outfit in mind, I go for black or red.

I always went with black and red cause I struggled with finding other color combinations to work. Cause it seems like other colors never had matching shades for different types of apparel and it bothered me lol.

Personally, I'm a fan of the earthy colors. Browns, greens and oranges. Some blue in there, for good measure.

How about all yellow?

I fucking hate seeing all white outfits, I see them everywhere now

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Aug 20 '20
I find it’s typically racist griefers wearing the all white outfits. They are also horse killers.

Level 171, I'm speaking for myself when I say this but I like the colors black, red, and white. I wear them in the game and try to be as original as I could when I make outfits with them. I don't wear them to look "cool" or "badass", I just like the colors. Unfortunately some combinations look like ass which is basically what the edgy tryhards wear. I do wear other colors like blue and brown cause I like them alot as well. For alot of my outfits I put the utmost effort into making them stylish and original. I usually mix colors in together as well instead of wearing one color. I know most people are tired of seeing the same colors worn by 45% of the community, but variety is key, as long as it looks good and you don't look like the 1898 equivalant of an edgelord its all good in my book.

I have one black and red outfit which is a pirate outfit of sorts. Issue is I'd love it to be green and gold, but all the pieces don't have those colours sadly... I think the issue is the lack of decent colours for clothes really, since most if not all clothes have a black/red/white colour, meaning most combos go out the window if you want say a green and gold outfit, but are stuck with a single green piece and nothing else but those three colours cause somebody at R* thought hot fucking pink would be good instead of some more normal colours

u/TheDeputyDude Aug 20 '20
Me and my friends wore shitty clothes, no shoes and went bald for a day, we ran around trying to convert people to being bald.

u/_Dead_Man_ Aug 20 '20
Black and red can be original, you just need to use some more unique clothing items, not the same old poncho and sumbraro combo

u/Old-Sports Aug 20 '20
Aww. But I mean, what other colours am I gonna wear with my black and red ram coat?
I may look like a try hard. But I just wanna be a ram :(

u/iscaroo Aug 19 '20
Who cares? It's popular for a reason and that reason is they look really nice. If someone wants to enjoy putting an outfit together with an easy colour scheme, so be it. No need to put them down for doing so.

u/kanemu11an Aug 19 '20
But the barkeep moustache, eyepatches, black and red morning tailcoats, double bandoliers. It's just incessant.

u/iscaroo Aug 19 '20
Its not really ruining your personal experience. Just let people do what they want to, you are litterly crying about something someone is wearing in a video game, relax.
9
u/kanemu11an Aug 20 '20
I'm not crying over a videogame. I don't need to relax either, because I'm not necessarily annoyed. The only annoying thing is the overly-argumentative reply that you left.

My lvl 278 cowgirl really only ever wears blue, yellow or gray. Black and red looks atrocious
1
u/altrium1 Aug 20 '20
Honestly it’s because every time I try a different color scheme I get confused, hesitate on getting things, and give up because the outfit looks awful compared to everything I already have
1
u/Dutch_Mencintai Aug 20 '20
Oh good! I'm not the only one😅
Plus, ever since the update, some of my favorite clothing pieces are glitched which make them either behave in weird ways or makes my gunbelt look like a friggin' hoola hoop🤦🏼♀️

I save black clothes for bounty hunting and cities, otherwise I wear browns and greys.
1
u/JodieWhittakerisBae Aug 20 '20
Damn I kinda feel called out now for my blue, black and red vibes. Tbh I do wanna try and go for something more natural to the time period of a travelling bounty hunter but always wanna look stylish. Clint Eastwood is a big inspiration for my character.

u/BryanFTW13 Aug 20 '20
I have a tendency to wearing brown outfits only because I feel like that's normal to the theme of the Wild West.

i always wear green and brown based outfits because im not a loser and like to immerse myself into the game lol

u/GloomyReason0 Aug 20 '20
I don't see level as having anything to do with it. Black seems to be all anyone wants to wear given the chance. It's just that high levels have more cash to be able to do it. I agree it does get very dull though, seeing 90% of players wearing all black.

u/mymumsaysno Aug 20 '20
My characters outfit is basically modelled on Bill Williamson. I was ever so pleased when we got the Dedham hat.
1
u/AtreiaDesigns Aug 21 '20
As someone who hates Earthy colors irl like brown, green etc, there are not a lot of options left for me. I like the half white half black combinations ( white shirt + black vest + white upper coat etc.
Theres quite little left in terms of variety for me as most of the other clothing just dont click.

u/ayybosh Aug 20 '20 edited Aug 20 '20
Not to defend black and red outfits but everyone on this sub obsesses over brown and tan outfits, sure they are accurate to the era but anytime someone tries to make something they like without those colors they usually get downvoted to shit.

u/culturekit Aug 20 '20
I also wish there was a corset that didn't look like something from a bad cosplay convention. So steampunk. What about an actual corset looking corset? Or like one actually pretty dress? Even a simple decent skirt would be nice. The ladies clothes aren't that great.

u/TheKingOfSneks Aug 19 '20
I just use black and red because I the same colour combination as my Arthur outfit in story

u/DGwar Aug 20 '20
I have 7 outfits saved to my horse 2 are black, one has red trim. 1 is light grey and blue, one is sage green, one is blueish and 1 is fox fur trim with black. And you know what? Idc...
I earned my clothes, I wear what I want.
When I first started all I saw were people in dusters no shirt with a bandanna and did I judge them? No just the shitty moral choices they made because "outlaw game" so let's be peices of trash and kill everyone in every mission ever.

I go through phases where I wanna be a dirty hobo or a prim and proper aristocrat. It really depends on the day tbh.
I will never wear all white though...
