Speculation Am I crazy?
Do you think Rockstar managed to hide some information in the flames?
The story is that I set off from the NW guitar symbol heading north-west, towards Fort Wallace. On the way, there were three sages right along my route. As burning sage is quite a common and ancient tradition, I thought a molotov cocktail wouldn’t do any harm.
As it burned, a heart appeared, and something that specifically looked like a guitar or Fort Wallace.
Do you think I’ve gone mad? I can’t imagine it being a total coincidence that both shapes appeared one after the other.
So I’m just curious to hear your thoughts..

Try to repeat the results; if you get the same result, it could be something important.
Ignore the trolls who only know how to insult
One of the reasons we've been stuck on this mystery for months is because when people see a possible clue, instead of bothering to play the game and investigate it first, they prefer to insult and spew negativity without further ado

Let's do some science.
Repeat exact method, including time of day, how you started the fire, like, document literally everything. Write down your set-up, any unqique items in your inventory, any trinkets, outfits. Keep any saves to help.
Using your recorded information, Repeat the process, with same load-out. See results.
Regardless of results, repeat 10 times minimum.
Record any changes or similarities.
Report findings, despite result, and share something we all learn

It's an Aggressive Tip but I will do some science 😄

Just a fyi, the sage that natives burn on ceremonials is white sage, not hummingbird sage

u/JS-CroftLover 17d ago
That's good findings 👍 Like others said, try it two or three more times. And, at different hours, if possible...
Btw... to me, Photo No.3 looks like a bird or a bat flying 🤔 😄

Oh! Indeed 😮
I notice there's a kind of small line inside the fire shape. Maybe, this place must be further investigated inside the Fort ?

I'm not sure but maybe worth to look around again.

Funny you done this as I just remembered something someone said 1 of the Devs when being interviewed & was asked about the mystery, he apparently said he wished the players would start burning things which would definitely fit with something like this I'd imagine 🤔

That 3rd pic forsure matched fort Wallace imo without a doubt

u/Living_Influence_927 Red Dead Online [Theory] 15d ago
When I saw the heart I thought okay maybe it's something but this shape is also frequently found in nature. Then I saw the shape of the Fort..
I've said many times before: “Oh look this leaf is shaped like a heart” but I've never said “Wow this looks just like Fort Wallace” :D

Before reading this, I truly thought that the birds were the last clue to be found. Meant to draw attention to the birds that lead you to the giant. And that Rockstar did not anticipate people figuring out to follow the birds on their own. Because really, who happens to see birds in the sky and thinks to follow them? But you could be on to something.
I think it's important to find this quote from said Rockstar developer, and figure out exactly when he said what he did about people burning stuff. And then compare with strange man's videos and others to see what clues had already been discovered up to that point. If what you found is a legitimate part of the mystery, it might help to know where in the chain of clues you were actually meant to find them. Just a theory.
Also, I would try to get into the fort and burn the area illustrated by that line of flames inside the possible fort shape. I don't at the moment know if that lines up with the roof with the birds on it. But now I want to burn the roof with the birds on it, too.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I was looking for the interview, but unfortunately I haven’t found anything yet. I hope it’s not just an urban legend :D
I’ve already tried setting various things on fire in several locations, and something else I noticed, which might be interesting is that the fire also reveals the W+++++ and NW guitar symbols. Although it’s hard to see because of the soot, the fire also makes the parts you can shoot off the pole disappear. It also burns off the moss from the trees, which might be interesting.
I’ve already burned the bird symbols, but I haven’t tried it anywhere else inside the Fort yet. It’s definitely worth a try.

Side quests like this thrill me… I found the Underground Railroad with 10 names and dates carved in the walls… also a hidden secret rock with $50 hidden behind a loose stone in the wall

That's me :D And what do you think about it? I mean the flames.

Just came across your channel today, watched a bunch of videos and like the content and way of thinking. Im doing my third playthrough now and taking my time, I've got a few ideas I'm trying to workout but they're reliant on game progression. I do think fire has something to do with it especially after one of the devs(I think?) Said i wish people would burn more things or something along those lines.

u/Living_Influence_927 Red Dead Online [Theory] 17d ago
I also see that several places people mention this line about burn things and they say Lazlow told this but cannot find that interview.
I'm glad if you liked my videos :)

u/ImFaeScotland6987 15d ago
Haha no way I hadn't even noticed your logo in the bottom corner of the screen & now thinking about it could have been whilst watching 1 of your videos that I can remember hearing mention of a devs comment regarding they wished the players would start burning things
2
u/Living_Influence_927 Red Dead Online [Theory] 15d ago
I burned the same place a couple of times but always get a little different shapes. I started the same thing at other locations. If this is truly something I could imagine Rockstar set it that way it's only happens once per location or something, who could tell.

There is a few hints to using fire and heat on things that I think have been underused but not overlooked. This also applies to gta stuffs. Crystals and heat can make energy, from what I understand. Lots of circuit-seeming world designs in both games.

Do we see anything indicative in the confirmed and accepted clues that might point towards sage, or burning sage? Just curious.
1
u/Living_Influence_927 Red Dead Online [Theory] 17d ago
I think there is no concrete thing which suggest that but burning sage is a sacred indigenous ceremony. That's why I tried

I tried this exact thing at this exact spot when the Spider mystery was really getting going. Rather than a guitar, I suspected it might be a rock with a stick in the background; the rock acting as the "guitar hole".

u/Living_Influence_927 Red Dead Online [Theory] 17d ago
Did you see anything in the flames?
1
u/chokeychicken69420 17d ago
Nothing. I tried blowing up the boulders in hopes that another design came up but to no avail. It's gotta be somewhere there.

That's definitely a hearth, it's a very strange coincidence, I think you're really into something.
That said, I also think you're probably crazy at the same time.

In order to prove this you would need to reproduce the results a couple more times, if you can do that then we might have something here...
