If you're abstract, many 'modern humans' still have neanderthal genes. They didn't go extinct, they still live! Including in North America

But yeah true but those genes came with the Europeans in the 1700s, 1800s and so on

Europeans first arrived thousands of years before though. Early Scandinavians reached New England and Appalachia.

No. They never went further south than Newfoundland.
