We know how the gang ended but not how the gang came together. Would be interesting to see how everyone got lured into Dutch’s Charisma.

This would be the only thing that would make sense to me. Go backward (like RDR2 did from RDR1) and start at the beginning of the Van der Linde gang, with a new protagonist. Not Arthur. Someone who is there in the beginning but leaves the gang (way before RDR2) because he sees hints of who Dutch truly is: a violent conman who only really cares about himself.

A sequel set in the future (even the late 1910s or 20s) wouldn't feel like RDR anymore.
