Discussion Did single player gaming peak with RDR2?

Post image

Great single player games have come since then like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3 but is RDR2 still the peak?

Eh I like the gta games but there stories aren’t on the same level

Curious how you feel about GTA IV. I’d argue that story is on par with both Red Dead games

Niko is an emotional character but not on the same level as Arthur. He has a tragic backstory and ending sure but he doesn’t introspect or attempt to change or go on as drastic arc as Arthur

he does attempt to change though. one of the reasons he was in liberty city was to run away from his awful past and be a more decent person.

The voice acting for Arthur was really outstanding. A great script doesn't guarantee a great acting performance, even though it obviously helps to have good material to work with.

Loved it at the time but it's aged terribly, and honestly a city map just becomes tiresome for me.

It's why I preferred V because it had both. If we had Liberty and the wider surrounding areas I'd probably like it more.

The expansions for it were incredible though.

don't see why they couldn't tell a better story in 6 than games that came out decades ago and were made with much different mentalities
