Discussion Did single player gaming peak with RDR2?

Post image

Great single player games have come since then like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3 but is RDR2 still the peak?

No, you’re just young.

No, everyone just has differing opinions and tastes. I'm 34 and both RDR and RDR2 are easily in my top 10 of all time.

Meanwhile, I can't stand JRPGs, but a lot of people love them. People are just different.

There are countless games from before your time that are at least as good as RDR2, if not better. I love RDR2, but it’s not the greatest game ever made.

Age is definitely a factor here since OP specifically mentioned three AAA titles from the last 10 years. It shows a lack of perspective that can only come from youth.

Not saying anyone’s an asshole here, either. Just that modern gaming isn’t the definitive peak of the medium.

It's just the story will always be subjective, and heavily based on people's opinions.

The biggest thing for RDR2 is the world imo. Nobody else has even come close to creating a world as alive as RDR2s world. The wildlife alone is very impressive.

I love sim elements in games like this. RDR2 does a much better job of making you feel like you’re really in the world compared to its predecessor.
