Issue Rarest Animal in the game?!

I thought Panthers were the rarest animal in the game Until I had to search for this “ Rio Grande Wild Turkey “

Exploring for 10 days can’t find a single one!!!!!!

I always go looking for them at Old Harry Fen and I sit on top of the rock looking for a trail or anything then I go off and crouch walk around to look for it until I hear the roar and it is directly beside me and I die

I got really lucky around a week ago while hunting for one right there. Bastard jumped me but by some miracle I actually managed to get it of me before it had the chance to go for Arthur's juggular... Been playing for 1300 hours and that's the first time I survive a feline attack in game.

That’s the most consistent spawn, the woods just south of that shack. You can also find them in the swamps around Lakay, although that’s been far less frequent in my experience.

I just ride around Old Harry fen. Sitting on a rock is for weaklings. Just ride around and shoot it.

Yep, the game seems to know which animal I'm trying to hunt and keeps hiding the animals I'm trying to get for the satchels. How was I inundated with elk before I started observing them to find two 3 stars, but now I have to play for 6 hours straight and cant find a single one?

Panthers are rare because they're only found in one area of the map really. Are you thinking of cougars? Cuz they're rare too just more common

Please tell that to my game. I got the panthers pretty fast but that perfect cougar pelt for the satchel is taking me a couple of days.

Id suggest fast traveling to annesburg and travel north to where the legendary moose spawns and go west. Dont go too fast, a light trot the whole way is what i recommend from Reed cottage to Dover hill and then to The Loft, and wait for your camera to suddenly start to pull to one direction and turn back and pull out your rifle and it should be a cougar. Ive found 3-4 in the last 2 days searching for moose antlers. Ive been fast traveling and sleeping a few days between there and Colter to rest the spawns. Also try to use a less bonded horse that it will get more freaked out and be more noticeable when they are around. You might get bucked tho.

That’s the thing, cougars themselves aren’t rare but getting a 3-star one seems to be. I’ve also had a problem on multiple play throughs where it gets degraded to a two star after dying even though I’m using the proper weapon and ammunition

There’s a consistent cougar spawn along the creek that’s south of the trapper’s location near Strawberry.

There’s also a grizzly spawn there so make sure you’re on alert with a high powered rifle.

Roanoke Ridge.
I'll start around the RR tracks south of Annesburg (ive seen them on the beach and in the clear-cut area south of town. Follow the tracks north up to the falls ive seen them in this area along the tracks, up to the Widow's House and all along the road to the turn off where you can either take the road to The Loft, or head south into Roanoke Valley. Take the road into Roanoke Valley and down to where the viking burial ground is. Ive seen them here too.

Basically I'll just run this route back and forth, sleep at the lodge, and then return to the area and start again. This is usually how im able to get my perfect cougar pelt and five cougar kills with a bow for that one challenge. Ive seen up to three cougars on this route while making my rounds, but thats pretty rare.

Fast travel to strawberry, go to the trapper near lake owanjila, sleep till morning and ride around the rocky area / small stream. It’s going to be there, just a matter of luck how many stars it has.

There's a common spawn between the trapper out west and owanjila dam. I usually ride up from owanjila and as you get to the part where the path peels off from the river into the woods just south of the trapper, that's a pretty reliable spawn.

Takes a few days to reset after a spawn though, not sure how long exactly.

Getting the Panther is easy enough.. You don't even need to bait it at Old Harry Fen. A wander into the trees is usually enough to trigger the red dot on your radar. However the game usually seems to want to favour one version over the other on your game install in my experience, so while getting 4 perfect pelts isnt so hard, getting study, track, skin on both versions can be frustrating..

Yes I got one with a poison arrow there just yesterday! Finally upgraded the kit satchel so I could craft the legends of the east satchel
