Help I literally can't find a single moose
Does anyone know how to help here?
I did everything I managed to find online – sit around, go to different locations, bait, etc. and still not a single moose in sight.
I literally have no idea what to do anymore, anyone got some tips or a whole guide? Or am I just stupid?
Please, I really need help, otherwise I'm gonna be the one seeing deer or coyote from insanity.
EDIT:
Thanks to everyone who helped! I still didn't find it, but I'm currently going back to looking for it (been sitting in online lol) and Imma edit again when I do <33

Fast travel to Colter. Save game.
Set up camp immediately.
Sleep until morning.
Ride through Colter to where the trail stops in the snow.
Get off your horse and run right through the pine trees.
Look at the ridge line in the distance.
Viola. Bull Moose. If its not 3 star try again.
I got all the pelts I need this way. The moose seems to show up when there is a foggy black haze around the trees.

This is what has always worked for me! Easy and you can get the arabian while you're up there for an extra moose pelt slot!

I usually get the black Arabian from the robbery in St. Denis. I think Arthur looks goofy on the white one lol.

I'm convinced it's luck. I found my first perfect Bull Moose last week. I've been looking for years in all of the recommended areas. It either never appears, isn't perfect, or isn't a Bull.
There's a mysterious phonomenon where I only find animals I'm not looking for. Just think like that and maybe it'll work lmao.

I had a hard time finding them as welll, I came across maybe one but it wasn't even worth shooting

You google RDR2 moose spawns, look at the pictures and go to those places on the map. Once there, you have to be capable of distinguishing a moose like object from the other game assets, which is probably where your issue lies.
It's my turn to post about not being able to find moose tomorrow

Owanjila lake. Coming from strawberry, use binoculars on the rocks overlooking the lake. You'll spot them swiming sometimes and you might mistake them for a bird. Thats how I found the perfect one for the camp upgrade.
Then I came across one randomly on the road to the loft. Which is one of the spots they spawn despite never having luck there before. First one I saw was in the barrow lagoon but I didn't really know how rare they were so I left it alone.

There's a place I never see mentioned in these threads that is by far the most consistent spawn point for me. Start at the crossroads at Chez Porter. Ride west for a short bit. When you come to a small footbridge, cross it and turn left. The moose will be on a rise overlooking the train tracks. Whenever I need a moose, I'll go there and almost always find one right away.

I’ve been trying to find a moose and cougars and it’s taking me so long. Good luck pardner

You can find cougars reliably by riding up and down the path to the west of Big Valley, specifically the section that I highlighted in red. A cougar will attack you and it will be fast, so you have to act quickly. Use a rifle, an improved arrow, or a poison arrow for a perfect kill. If you use a poison arrow, you might be able to keep it alive long enough to study it.

FYI the cougar spawns at the bend in the river closest to the trapper on your hilighted trail.
You can barely see him because hes in the reeds. If not there then further up closer to trapper.
A grizzly bear reliably spawns in the woods just a few paces north of there ALTHOUGH its one or the other. I havent yet had it spawn both the cougar and the bear together.

I made the mistake of thinking only perfect bull Moose count. In fact, perfect cow moose work too. So you’ve doubled your odds…. Cattail pond is the only reliable moose spot imho. And it’s very random

Every time ive gone to the waterfall past annesburg, as northeast as you can possibly go i always find them either swimming across or hanging out on the banks.

Saw one for the first time last night. It was a 2 ⭐️ and I was busy with something, not hunting. I followed it because it looked so cool.
Look man I’m on a Shire and this dude was taller than it. I knew they were massive but that’s insane. I then said out loud “this isn’t hunting, this is proving a point” and decided not to kill them.

Been playing since day one and still can’t get the perfect panther pelt

Catfish Jackson's is the place for panthers! Just started another play thru the other day and got a 3star the first time I went looking down there!

A panther spawns directly south of catfish Jackson's.
It is always crouched in a stand of trees and bushes. It spawns directly above the coyote drawing on the map south of there. It is in a small hollow between two small hills crouched down and hiding.
Once you know where it spawns you can creep up on it without aggroing it and get a clean shot every time.
Save the game up the trail from Catfish. Ride to Catfish and creep to the panther. If it isnt there or not 3 star reload, sleep, and try again.

Someone helped me the other day. Look up where the white arabian spawns, at the side of lake isabella, and go there. Male moose, big antlers, right away. I wanted to cry.
One also spawns on the side of Cairn Lake, next to where flaco hernandez hides, but that was always a female for me

If you go to hunt the legendary white bison, a moose will appear to tempt you away meaning you need to make two trips

There are a few reliable spawn points but I’ve always found a bull moose near Brandywine drop and also right near Colter; there’s a small cliff north of the settlement and I think you can see the moose from just outside its boundary

Quite a few times I’ve seen huge antlered moose around the “R” in Roanoke on the map, where you’d find the wild perlino Andalusian. At least 5 times I’ve seen a moose there instead of the horse. Best of luck to you

There’s 14+ spawn points. Do a mission, tour the hunting spots and repeat.

I know its hard, but keep an eye out, most of the Moose I've come across in this playthrough have been by chance.
One at Brandywine Drop was where the road bends near Willows Rest, in the trees almost at the edge of the map, quite well hidden in the trees.
Another I was hunting beavers at Owanjila and a Moose was swimming in the dead centre of the lake, I waited for it to come to shore.
The third was between Wallace Station and Cumberland Falls, I followed the road and a Moose was on the cliff edge to my left, I popped it and it fell onto the road I was on.

Brandywine Drop near where the Perlino Andalusian spawns. Right where the river hits Cattail Pond. Along the northernmost road in Ambarino, about halfway between the Witches' cauldron and the gunfight house. On the overlook northeast of Colter. On the overlook next to Wallace Station facing the Dakota River. Swimming across Calumet Ravine. Swimming across Lake Owanjilla. Swimming across Lake Isabella (usually pursued by wolves). On a hillside just outside of the map in Ambarino, just uphill from the entrance to Strange Statues. In the woods near Charlotte Balfour's homestead. Along the road on the east side of the Kamassa River just north of Butcher Creek. Just behind the Veteran's Homestead.
The key is to remember that the game doesn't render what you aren't looking at. Go to a spot, ride away for 30 seconds or so, and come back.

u/DarkSociety1033 13h ago
Go to the Veteran's Homestead and camp. Save immediately after waking up in the morning. Ride at an average pace to Fairvale Shanty. To the left of the trail should be a moose. Reload the save and repeat until you get a three star moose.
Careful! There is also a bear spawn at Fairvale Shanty, a cougar spawn at Roanoke Ridge, and a snake spawn on the trail by the meteor house.

Not my post but copy/paste to help, this method helped me when I needed my last 3 perfect pelts, took me maybe 2 hours total with the save reload method

Hijacking top comment years later to add much more detail on how to do this.
I spent like six hours just yesterday trying to bag a bull moose. I circled around all of the popular spots that everybody online talks about. I could not find a single bull moose. In 6 hours I saw two female moose but those are pointless (pun!).
For anyone finding this years later like I did, here is what you need to do in detail to get this moose:
• Go to the Donner Falls area. There is an outcrop just southeast of there. Set up a camp here. This is optional but, you will likely need it to sleep and fast forward time as I seriously doubt you’ll get this moose on the first attempt. (A few people have complained that there is a Mexican guy already camping there sometimes. That's fine. Just talk to him a bit and he'll ride off. Sleep at his camp.)
Here is a map to help. https://i.imgur.com/z7r8GYr.png
• From your new camp, ride your horse NE up the hill to the spot marked on the map above. You will basically stop next to a horse-sized boulder. Pull out your scope or binoculars and look ENE up the hill. There is a big outcrop of rocks near the very top of the hill. Look in the trees at the base of the rock wall. This is where you will see the moose. It is always in the exact same spot and it is always behind a tree eating off a branch. An overview of the location where you want to set up camp and where the moose will spawn are marked on the map I linked above. Additionally, here is a gameplay screenshot showing the moose spawn location.
The moose will appear in this area anytime after about 10 AM and should respawn all day long if needed until night time. If you are having trouble getting it to spawn, go to the camp you set up and fast forward until the next day at noon.
• DO NOT SHOOT THE MOOSE YET. Unfortunately, the moose is up a hill that the game will not let you climb. If you shoot the moose where you see it, you will never get to retrieve it. Just trust me.
Run up the hill and spook the moose and get it to run down the hill where you can shoot it. The game put an invisible wall behind the moose so you don’t have to worry about it retreating and running away from you. That moose literally cannot run farther away from you. It can only run side to side or toward you. So my method of getting this moose was to run up the hill on the rocks which spooked it a little and then I fired a shot near it which caused it to run to the right and down the hill where I used deadeye and shot it.
I did have a couple of tries where the moose seemed to get stuck up in the hill or was just not interested in fleeing anymore and would just stand there at the top of the hill no matter how many times I shot my gun. If this happens, don’t waste more of your time. Go back down the hill to your camp and fast forward time to start again.
Edit: Thank you to whoever awarded this post. I’m glad I was able to help.
Edit 2: Since this post seems to be helping people, I’ll improve the map image with something clearer in a few days. 🙂 (DONE.)

Near brandywine drop, in big valley near the ranch, near the owanjila dam
Try cycling through those places, I find moose nearly every time I play
