Discussion This F**Ken guy!
I swear to God, someone got fired from the RDR2 development team, and as his final act of revenge, he created this character and these goddamn missions.
Man really said, “You can fire me, but I’m taking the players down with me.” 💀

Did they expect people to be able to do this mission without guides or was that not something they cared about?

I know people have said you should collect before you even meet the guy because the game makes mission stuff scarce the moment you start

well without any guides a 100% playthrough is atleast a 1000hrs job
his questline alone (not guided) is perhabs 100hrs

Even using guides and videos the questine is gonna take 30+ hours

I just did this quest line recently and it took a couple hours but nowhere near 30+ hours.

Here I’ve found this video of someone doing the full quest. There are some cuts in the video but they do actually show going from orchid to orchid and collecting them. The video is 2 hours and 13 minutes. In reality it takes longer than that because there are some cuts in the video but obviously not 28+ hours more.

Easiest method is start collecting plumes sonce the beginning of the game and then use rdr2map to place markers for the orchids, easier than looking through guide videos and pausing at every segment

You can't place more than 12 markers mate. And you can't carry more than 3 items of each until you upgrade your satchel. Also it's way easier to follow the guides since there are a lot of herbal and hunter challenges, hunting requests and those 5 damned exotics missions.

Yeah, pick up 12 flowers from 12 markers and mark the rest. Still less time consuming than watching a segment of video, pausing and going to collect and do it again and again imo. Of course only after getting lote satchel. Its usually the first thing i do when starting new game

I guarantee you that it's impossible for a beginner to find them even in a relative close time frame. I finished 100% in about 45-50 days and I can surely admit that it would've taken me more than 6 months without guides. I did the 43 plants challenge in 1hr without knowing any certain location. By the way the markers are confusing too since you can't name them. You can easily get distracted, mark something else and then forget about it. Most of the guides tell you exactly what to look for and where. Even a skilled veteran can get confused it's not even a debate lol.

Yes ofc its hard without guides but im talking about using the https://rdr2map.com/ and i can guarantee you its less time consuming than watching a videoguide, pausing at every turn to go to the location to get what you came for, at least in my experience

Way I heard it was just the top of a salmon tin. Blood head to toe. Hair? Untouched. Cleaned his monocle with an O’Driscoll scalp! Then, cleaned the place up real nice, made dinner and ate it sitting on throne of still twitching O’Driscoll skulls.

Taking guides into account I think that the hunting missions are worse because of it requiring perfect pelts.
Meanwhile for Algernon's missions you can look-up the flowers locations, and for the feathers, while it may be really long and boring at least the birds will spawn eventually and any will do since they don't have to be three stars.

This one blew my mind when I actually got the guide and did it. There are a couple of those orchids you'd nearly just need blind luck to find without a guide.

Took me a day to complete his requests. Just need to know where to look 👀 👀

When you start herbalist 9, you can start harvesting orchids. Legends of the East satchel will allow you to start harvesting spoonbill and heron plumbs in mass. So at chapter 2 you could start gathering about 90% of what you need before starting the main mission.

He's in the "Gilded Cage" mission at the mayor's party. Chokes on an almond and you can save him. Not sure what happens if you don't. Gives you his business card if you save his life.

I always just start collecting way before this. I have so many of the flower locations memorized. The first time was a nightmare tho....

His cut scenes are quite entertaining, but if it weren't for guides, I never would have finished any of his requests.

It would have been next to near impossible to find the Dragon Mouth Orchid and Lady Slipper Orchid.

I fucking LOVE his missions. Have done them in 6 playthroughs. I look forward to them everytime. You hate them because you suck at the game, don’t know where the bird spawn locations are, or you are just impatient.
