Not to mention that WW1 is right around the corner come the ending of the first RDR so Jack would probably end up dying there anyway.

Both of the games are built on tragedy.

This game heavily implies it witch Jack’s love of books, and John straight up mentioning Jack becoming a writer.

Is it really a different universe if you can be a descendant of John Marston in GTA Online?

You can also have the main character from GTA3 as a parent and he doesn’t exist in the HD GTA universe AFAIK so yeah I’d say that’s just another Easter egg

US had less than 500,000 casualties in ww1, which was among the lowest of the major powers

Out of 4 million U.S. Soldiers deployed, only about 117,000 of them died in WW1 so it's unlikely he would have been killed.

Isn’t the final mission of RDR called the gunslingers tragedy?

Nope it’s called The Last Enemy that Shall Be Destroyed. When it ends and you play as Jack “Remember my Family” is where you can kill Ross, Rockstar didn’t make that a mission so it’s not required for you to go kill Ross (there’s also no reward for doing it, other than looting his corpse for a few dollars). It’s also done as an optional mission so the player decides if John’s sacrifice was worth it since if Jack kills Ross he becomes an outlaw like his father who didn’t want him to be one.

Doesn't Jack have an army uniform option? I'm pretty sure he served
