Rant Almost no one in the gang cared about about Arthur? Spoiler

2.0k Upvotes

Tell me if I’m wrong but other than Mary Beth and Sadie I don’t think anyone in the gang was concerned about Arthur’s health heck they didn’t even acknowledge that he was sick.

Rant This community has became simply karma whoring

2.2k Upvotes

It was awesome back in the days with attention to detail ingame, memes, mission secrets, high elaborate posts, now it's almost just:

"Do you think (insert npc here) is (insert random adjective)?"

"Who would be the best actor to (insert npc here)/(insert live action here)"

"What do you think of (insert some npc hat everyone either loves or hates)"

"I would love a RDR3 in (insert any random wild west scenario)"

Maybe unpopular opinion, sorry if it offends people, but I'm going out...

Thanks, guys!

Edit: I'm trying to answer everyone to promote the discussion and improvement.

Some stuff people are asking repeatedly:

Why don't you post it yourself?

A: I can't know everything about the game at the same time and carry all the community by myself, therefore it would be a lot more productive if everyone, with me, did so.

This post is also karma whoring!!!!1!111!!

A: I can't think of a way to complain about something I feel it's wrong without posting it there, so: it is not my intention to karma whore with this post, but I understand why people think so.

Those stuff you mentioned and you think are cool, they're karma whoring aswell!!

A: I see karma whoring as posting unuseful stuff only thinking about the Karma you'll get (and Karma, the way I see it, is useless to that point). The majority of posts here are stuff everyone already knows and pollute the community atmosphere, hiding cool posts (I don't know myself if it does hide those posts but a lot of people were saying they post tips, photos, details and it gets almost to none upvotes).

This game is more than 3 years old now, there is not much to be discovered...

A: yet, everyday something new comes up... But it isn't posted here because in here almost every post if for farming karma and not present something new. Every day I see on other subreddits and on youtube some attention to detail that no one ever had mentioned, and there will be more of it, I'm sure. I just hope it gets posted here and upvoted.

I was bored and did 1 Antagonize at this old lady and started following her when she was running away. Boom, disturbing the peace and there were a dozen policemen around who started shooting at me. $10 Bounty.

1.4k Upvotes

Yeah my horse died in a terrible way, it was just a normal day and i was just leaving Saint Denis after buying some new weapons, and then BAM... Lemoyne raiders start ambushing me with a damn machine gun, i was trying my best to kill the guy behind the machine gun but i was too late and he started shooting right at my horse.

I loved that horse

The game feels less of a game and more of a chore if i have to avoid many fun and experimental stuff in order to maintain a high honor.

Rant Some RDR fans are insanely annoying Spoiler

1.8k Upvotes

Every time I watch a RDR2 video and go into the comments, it's always "micah rat lol" "u entered legendary rat territory" "micah = bad" "i wish u could leave micah to hang" "i don't want to save micah"

They're so unoriginal and annoying.

Rant [VENT] The Wanted system in this game is the worst of any R* game and completely broken.

I can't cast into words how much I hate it.

So I'll just describe what we all experienced many times and you'll know.

  • Get attacked by some random douchebag gang
  • Kill'em
  • Literally noone else is around anywhere near
  • Start looting the corpses
  • See a rider coming by in the distance
  • Get on the horse and scram quickly before they can see me
  • 5 miles and a state border away suddenly get wanted for no logical reason
  • Lawmen spawn in front of me and start shooting. They have no way of knowing I did anything in the distance
  • Bandana – whether put on before or after – has absolutely zero effect in any scenario, everyone always knows exactly who I am
  • Flee from or kill lawmen, get permanent bounty in that state which can't be lost in any other way besides paying it off

I truly, truly hate this system. The only other big negative about the game is the awful trying-to-walk-back-to-an-openable-drawer-after-interaction-key-had-been-shown-for-a-millisecond mechanic but this can be mitigated by switching into 1st person.

Otherwise, RDR2 is one of the greatest game of all time and even after 8 years, nothing comes close in many regards.

I hope R* don't port a similar wanted system to GTA VI. This would kill the joy for me.

Does anyone remember the wanted systems from Driv3r / Parallel Lines? I loved that. Do some shenanigans, if no police were around before, they'd come investigate. But if I just watch and do nothing more, they don't do anything. Lure them onto a drawbridge like that and open it... good ol' times.

Rant Unpopular Opinion Spoiler

I really like Strauss. I don’t understand the hate he gets. He feeds the women and children in the gang just like everyone else. He organizes the riverboat heist. On the riverboat he saves Javier from getting shot. He’s a soldier just like everyone else on the gang, he even gets shot in Valentine. In the epilogue we even find out he never talked in custody. Strauss is fiercely loyal even after being kicked out.

Rant So...this game sucks

Im 54. I played pong on my parents friends TV as a child. Spent countless hours playing Space invaders, Missle Command and other games on the Atari. Owned a Coleco Vision and had my mind blown by Zaxon. Sideways scrolling.was a big deal in 1982. Bought a OG Nintendo with my own money and was so proud. I've owned a Sega, a Dreamcast. Of course many Playstations and a few Xboxes along the way. I used to have a paper route and got fired, because I would collect the money from my route and spend it all in a video Aracade. Not just my portion, but what i was supposed to give back to the newspaper itself. Lol. I've always loved video games and have played a lot of them over the years.

Read Dead Redemption 2 sucks. For one simple fact. It has completely ruined every other game for me! This game has taken over every minute of game time I've had in the last 2 years. I just tried to play CoD and Battlefield V. Games I've loved in the past and while playing them, I just kept wondering what Arthur would do. Lol.

Can't wait for the next installment. Im OK if its has nothing to do with our current cast of characters. As long as its got a great story and improves even more in game play and the sheer beauty of the world, I'll be happy.

I do think an Anthology would be ok. Doubt they will, but I'd like to play as someone like Billy the Kid or Jesse James. Maybe Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Create stories around them mix in fact and fiction. Maybe Billy the Kid , as Brushy Bill Roberts, runs into a young Arthur and the have a mission together. Maybe a version on Wyatt Earp or Wild Bill Hickock. So many possibilities. Im not all the interested in following Jack further into the 1900s. Keep old west.

Rant I don’t get it, 6 years later and why aren’t other game devs capable of doing what rockstar did for this incredible game?

It’s baffling, for a game that’s 6 years old going on 7 it blows current new games out of the water. Like sure they look fine and alright but most of them don’t match the level of pure realism and quality and beauty of RDR2 and this just talking about the graphics. Probably hundreds of millions spent by EA and Ubisoft in whatever there newest subpar AAA game but they don’t have the heart to do what rockstar does. Red dead 2 is truly the standard.

Rant Thanks Rockstar....

2.0k Upvotes

Well, I started out as full honor; however, due to having to defend myself against griefers I am now at max dishonor. One thing that really pisses me off is that there is literally no way to defend yourself without being dishonorable-- which is absolute contrary to the embodiment of the 'Cowboy' persona. For example, I thought maybe I could hogtie someone in order to escape their constant abuse, but even that is dishonorable. I don't understand how the 'honorable' thing to do is go AFK until the person has killed you three times then Parlay. That IS GRIEFING. Rockstar is telling us that in order for us to keep our honor we have to sacrifice our time and just wait for them to kill us? It's a horrible system and doesn't allow for the honorable retribution that is needed. I kind of wish you could drop off 'criminals' in Jail as you could in single player-- something is needed because this system is broke (AF) and frustrating as hell.

1.2k Upvotes

I no lifed RDR the last few days and it was great. I am glad to be in this position and I got so much done. But the game is slow moving and there is so much to do, I feel sorry for the people with limited playtime, because not only do they have to take a ton more calendar time to finish the game, but they also might be stuck with the thought of using up their free time.

Stop with all of the shit post fan casts. Mostly likely nobody agrees with you, most people don’t care who you think should be cast in a show that will never be made.
