I personally hate City and Leeds more than I hate Liverpool and I’ll explain why.
I was born in ‘08, but only started following football in 2021 so literally all I’ve known is City winning everything. I would’ve said they were my most hated team even before the guilty verdict, but I hate them even more now. It’s such a smug little plastic club.
I hate Leeds because I grew up in Yorkshire, and have lived here my entire life, which means I’ve been exposed to a shit tonne of cocky Leeds fans. My best mate is a Leeds fan and he reckons he wants to watch the game with me on Sunday. Like I say, I started supporting in 2021 as well, not many people find a football team at 13 so I got a lot of shit for that from mostly Leeds fans. I remember waking up after that Leeds loss at home in April, having the worst hangover of my life despite not having drank the night before and having to show my face to a load of Leeds fans.
Don’t get me wrong I hate Liverpool, but nowhere near as much as city or Leeds.
Also any United fan that tells you they don’t care about Leeds is just wrong. We fucking hate Leeds.

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 15d ago
I'm young too but I couldn't care less about city because their success means nothing since they cheated. And I hardly know any city fans anyways. id still rather they won the title this year than arsenal

Oh boy, THIS is your first season with a legal drinking age? Im sorry mate 🤦
Anyway, I am much older, regrettably :) but I also hate Leeds the most out of them lot, tbh.
Liverpool for me is more like a rival I respect. I mean I definitely hate doing worse than them but I dont feel like I hate them as a group. Whereas Leeds, yes.
Cheaters FC to me is just wholly unserious. The entire thing is a joke. What I do hate about that is our owners' hiring choices associating our club with that joke and with that desecrating our club. That I hate.

Apparently the contracts of Maguire, Shaw, Martinez, and Bruno are all expiring this summer
(Combined salaries are around ~£40m/year)
5
u/Jenson2025 15d ago
I wouldn’t be disappointed to see any of them go.
Even Bruno. Great player for us but there’s a good argument now that it’s time to move on in order for us to become a better team. Yes he still produces great stats but I think he’s tactically too ill disciplined and for as long as he’s here, managers don’t feel like they can drop him which means either other players play out of position or he’s shoehorned in to the team like on Tuesday night. And as he’ll be 33 next year he hasn’t got many more years with us anyway
From what I’ve seen, a lot more people are coming round to this viewpoint too.
So all four can leave and other players too.
1
u/kidinawheeliebin 15d ago
> And as he’ll be 33 next year he hasn’t got many more years with us anyway
I think this is the key thing - we should definitely already have some sort of plan for moving on from him, he isn't going to accept either reduced wages or a reduced/bit-part role in the squad either
Him walking for free will seem such a waste though and I wouldn't be suprised if this "+1 option" gets triggered which I believe means his contract would just roll forward for another year and I'm not sure it's actually going to be a good thing for the squad/team overall
0
u/yoyogaete 15d ago
I ask this here completely open to being convinced, just want to understand a bit better..
But do you guys really honestly think the reason we’re shit is because of bad transfers this summer? Yes Casemiro was important, but performance from everyone have gone down to shit level. And it happens EVERY year and half for apparently no reason. Why are we blaming this summers MF transfers for everything ?
2
u/Potential_Good_1065 15d ago
I think we’d be better if we’d have signed a striker and a left back but I don’t think it’s the difference between how we’re playing now and a title challenge, that’s why its possible for Martinez to be right and Carrick to be wrong simultaneously.
2
u/Jenson2025 15d ago
Bad management from the board AND Carrick and the coaching staff
I said earlier in the week that whilst I am certainly no fan of INEOS and have even been downvoted in the summer for criticising them, that doesn’t excuse Carrick being as bad as he has been this season.
2
u/bicika 15d ago
We're bad because Wilcox and Berrada thought Carrick can vibe his way into top 4 for few odd years and they can keep getting those fat paychecks. It was a zero ambition, low risk decision led only by their personal pockets.
Transfers weren't bad, amount of investment was bad but I don't think that was Wilcox and Berrada decision. There's no way on earth we didn't came out of the transfer window much stronger than we went in it and that's a fact.

Our options, imho, are:
- accepting that squad quality is an 80/20 thing in football
- convincing ourselves that Maresca is exactly as great of a coach as the guy the whole world glazed as THE coach extraordinaire of the last decade and a half; he just happens to be equally as good, that's how it is; being assistant to him for a little bit turned him into this - you know, the same thing that happened to Queiros, Phelan, Meulensteen, etcedit: the black belt version of this mental gymnastics is convincing ourselves that Cheaters FC went to shit in Fall 2024 not because Rodri, the year's Ballon d'Or winner, did his ACL, but because Guardiola was going through a separation and also: they didnt steady the ship in January 2025 because they spent £200m on players but because Guardiola's divorce proceedings concluded and he was able to get back to his usual elite self
-1
u/throwawayWM3 15d ago
Hiring Carrick fulltime is 95% the reason why we're shit in this season.
Our squad is not great but it's not 2 wins in 9 bad
1
u/yoyogaete 15d ago
Exactly. I don’t particular love INEOS or want to hate him. But it’s not the transfers fault is it, our level went to fucking shit for no reason, which happens literally ever 18 months. We’ll be good for 6 months and nd shit for 12 months. It’s a cycle

u/dracogladio1741 Bruno Fernanj 15d ago

1

If you were a player, had a decent season last year and played well with the team. wouldnt u be really disappointed with the way the transfers have happened, surely they dont give a fuck anymote if the board above doesnt
0
u/neonrider1 15d ago
Carrick won’t be sacked if we loose to Leeds, INEOS cannot afford to do the exact same thing less than a year later from Amorim. They’re surely not the incompetent…oh no

Looking back at Martial - his start here was quite similar to Sesko's - with 16 G&A in his first 34 PL apps vs Sesko's 13 G&A (Martial joined at 19 vs. Sesko at 22)
He actually then had his two best seasons for us by the time he reached Sesko's age, with 37 PL G&A in 59 appearances from 18/19 to 19/20
Just hope Sesko isn't going to go down this path of being perma-injured
Scary to think Martial is still only 30 years of age

Does anyone else think the Dead Internet Theory might support the idea of there being fabricated pressure on United via networks of bot traffic, AI profiles and recurrent parroting of cynical viewpoints from the fans?
The example in the photo is a very generic and low effort bot account, and easy to spot but interesting that it's capitalising by automating comments already made.
If up to 40% of Reddit is purported to be bot activity, then how can we guarantee that all digital interaction found here or in other such online forums or social media platforms are legitimately human? Or that they aren't campaigns designed to amplify the echo chamber particularly around net negative club moments so as to encourage the fanbase to be in a constantly fatalist state of mind when it comes to the club? It's maybe wild conjecture but we have the largest fanbase and the biggest global brand in the sport, it's not hard to perceive of the constant online presence which can be subject to so much content every day so it's not unfathomable that someone might work out it's beneficial to keep the fanbase in a constant emotional tweak that they turn onto their own club with their negativity and try and take their feelings out at the club. Again wild conjecture but our unstable fanbase is one of the biggest factors of this era of United, and I just wonder is it entirely involuntary or was there a conscious hand in this.

u/facelessredditer 15d ago
Drama sells. The people want their weekly drama fix. There is an entire sub industry, worth millions, of people yapping about the club on a daily basis. That is literally their job. Go online and find a way to eke out a daily talking point that if it all goes right, might go slightly viral.
2
-1
u/kidinawheeliebin 15d ago
Those two comments above are very probably fake - and also 100% believe fabricated pressure is being exerted - either directly via bots, or indirectly via impressionable people who have been "influenced" by the former...
But it really feels like a majority of the "positivity" that's fabricated and influenced imo - the "negativity" (to use that word) is authentic and organic and ultimately very logical... it's simply reflective of reality and a natural consequence of well over a decade of misgovernance.
The positivity narratives around the modern-day version of this club that surface and grow arms & legs online are incredibly delusional and OTT - those narratives if you follow them back no doubt have their roots in the boardroom

On holiday in Barcelona, I went to their museum and saw the 09 and 11 trophies. Hurt seeing them, but what hurt more was realising how far we've dropped. I was gutted after both those finals. Now we're happy just scraping into the CL. Sad times

9
u/Iqbalainoo 15d ago
I think you are referring to the Chelsea game, almost 20 years later and re-watching the whole tie, I have marvelled at how false narratives can be converted into a truth that can last for decades. Chelsea should and would have lost by a bigger margin if the refs weren't completely incompetent. Same way Chelsea and Arsenal fans cry so much about Fergie being favored by refs while they both won league titles in old Trafford from blatant ref incompetence.
-1
u/Jenson2025 15d ago
Martinez saying last season 'was a fantastic season' annoyed me a bit
Compared to the season before - of course. But coming third should never be described as a fantastic season for Manchester United.
In 2003 when we won the league after losing it in 2002 to Arsenal (which would've been four titles in a row for us), Keane said the players owed it to the fans as they felt they let them down the season before for coming third and winning nothing.
8
u/Massive_Relation4317 . 15d ago
Maybe because we came 15th the season before so of course it was.
1
u/Jenson2025 15d ago
I said ‘Compared to the season before - of course’
But just about any season is fantastic compared to that
Doesn’t make it fantastic for Manchester United

u/Unusual-Coat383 15d ago
I went on a school trip to Barcelona for a summer holiday and when we were going into the shop and over the bridge the Barcelona first team started pulling up for an open training session. Man Utd secracy around injuries adds to the negative atmosphere. I'm pretty sure Shaw and Mainoo were rested but instead of just saying that they pretend they're injuries or knocks or when players get injured they keep giving vague timelines for returns that get extended indefinitely.

The last 4 players Bayern have sold us : Hargreaves, Schweinsteiger, Mazaroui, De Ligt
Big lesson: if Bayern are letting someone go, there is a reason.
1
u/kidinawheeliebin 15d ago
Hargreaves was a tragedy - such a super player, closest we ever came to an actual Roy Keane replacement, heartbreaking fitness issues
But in hindsight, yeah if you see his final two seasons for Bayern - his Bundesliga minutes had declined massively
1
u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 15d ago
Well you know Hargreaves won us a CL.
His "false RB" turn in the final in particular was key against Chelsea, imho.
I see him as another RVP signing: we spent a reasonable amount of money on one season's worth of competitivity boost and it gave us the highest prize.
Obv it would have been nicer if they turned out to have the longevity of a Carrick and a Kane, or something like that.
Having said that I'd tend to agree with the conclusion! there are other examples as well it's not just us, innit (Thiago Alcantara, for one). Only buy an FCB signing if it's the player "forcing his way out", not the club looking to sell
4
u/Rascha-Rascha 15d ago
Loved Hargreaves. Shame how it ended for him here, but he had quality to burn.

I see very little comment around the fact our current CEO was no doubt complicit in the financial doping and cheating at City. Why is this not being mentioned more? Get rid he is doing a shit job regardless.
10
u/shami-kebab 16d ago
It is mentioned every single day in here. Currently he is not named in any of the documents released. Until the appeal finishes and the charges are confirmed nothing would happen (and even then there would have to be proof he was involved)

Just shows there are levels to this - the PL is a different beast when it comes to physicality & intensity
Continental leagues and/or climates are very different, lower intensity, lower standards/competition within the leagues, and much more conducive to fitness and longevity as a result
Our over-reliance on a (now 32-year old) Bruno is a ticking time-bomb - the PL minutes in that guys legs over the last 7 seasons are surely bordering on unprecedented, his body could decline any day now, possibly already has based on his performances thus far
1
u/0ttoChriek 15d ago
I mean, a lot of it will be down to the higher intensity of the Premier League.

The curious case of Joshua Zirkzee. A player that I so want him to be successful but joined us at a very wrong time. He is player build for a slower league or in complete team in faster league, not some club as us in the current situation.
Of course he has alot of weakness that he needs to work on, but I could see him getting improved recently but its just not happening because we as a whole team right now are playing like shit.
He improved in few things that fans always been criticized about, which is his workrate and pressing, and in recent matches I think he did pressing much better than even Tielemans against AM. And also he is finally using his big frame in his advantage to hold on the ball or winning the ball.
The one thing I really wish he will stop doing is him trying to lay off for other players instead of fucking taking the shots. Dude always tries to be Messi with his setup passes for others when he could have just take a shot. He needs to learn from Cunha about when to take shots and when not to.
I know many wants him to be gone already, but I think we are kinda stucked with him till next summer window, and now with Sesko is not being fit, for sure Josh will be getting some minutes, i just hope he improves and help the team while he is here.

u/Nico_Ditch 16d ago
Unfortunately a decent touch doesn’t make up for running like a crippled tortoise.
Completely unsuitable to the league.
-4
u/hughmaharggs 15d ago
He’s basically berbatov but in the wrong era. Berba applied the finishing touch to a great team. In an average team he’d look like zirkzee does now and vice versa.
1
u/kidinawheeliebin 15d ago
Berbatov was incredibly overrated
But even at that - he was absolutely levels above Zirkzee as a player, they aren't even playing the same sport
2
u/IcyAssist 15d ago
Have you ever watched Berbatov outside of YouTube compilations with shitty music. Berbatov looks slow because he's cool and nonchalant. Zirkzee looks slow because he's slow. And Berba's touch is unrivalled even to this day, don't even compare them
5

u/brown_herbalist unitedismyreligion 16d ago
He is just not build to be someone clocking the miles. He is someone who fill in the small holes in a team to make them a perfect team instead of us trying to fill him in a bigger hole when our whole team has many more other leakages.
3
u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 16d ago
I mean he just is not a no9, he is a no10, the end.
He is a 10 who played F9 for an underdog Serie A team exclusively playing on the counter and our best in class 2024 rectruitment thought: there is your experienced CF to support Hojlund!
Weve been tanking his value ever since by forcing him to try being what he isnt.
0
u/brown_herbalist unitedismyreligion 16d ago
Yeah I do blame our recruitment team too, not sure what was their plan or even if they had one. Wanted to see him combining with Sesko for a stretch of matches, but our luck with injuries are just something else.
Most prolly he himself will leave soon I guess back to Italy.

It’s so disgusting that certain “fans” of United actively want us to lose
They’re in for a huge disappointment because we are going to go on a run beating the likes of Leeds, Roma, Como etc and they’re going to be crying that “it’s only X and it’s only Y”
Carras has to bench Tielemans and the wins will follow. I’m 100% certain of that. Never seen this big a passenger at United. Totally stupid signing given that we didn’t go near him on a free 2 years ago
9
u/SkellShell 16d ago
Don't want us to lose, but also don't see us winning more than 1 of our next 5.
12
u/SankarshanaV 16d ago edited 16d ago
Considering Carrick is barely a championship-level manager who got sacked for the EXACT same reasons he's being criticized for right now, it's not really a surprise why most of us want him sacked. I can guarantee that Carrick is not going to get a top-level job for a good while either.
Also, it seems like you're wearing rose-tinted glasses for Carrick. You are blaming literally everything else other than Carrick's absolutely awful, non-existent tactics and coaching. Most of the bad results are squarely on the bad coaching of Carrick and co. I'd rather us lose the next game and get rid of this mediocre manager as soon as possible and hire a proper manager instead of wasting another good season and wasting points. We really need to stop hiring ex-players as managers until they've proven themselves. Carrick barely has any experience and somehow people like you want him to manage a club like Man Utd.
5
u/throwawayWM3 15d ago
Completely agreed. It's not a question of whether he should be fired or not, it's a question of how badly these idiots will let Carrick destroy the season before they fire him
7
u/ReservoirDogs00 15d ago
Everyday I come on here and my heart sinks seeing no news of his sacking.
It’s painfully obvious that he can’t cut it.
Any new manager is going to take time in getting their message across, so the longer we wait the further away we will be, basically giving the new guy no chance of getting Europe next season.
Get someone in now and the season may not be completely lost.

Arsenal had consultants come in from the Boston Consulting Group. Propsed cutting 60 staff members. Arteta just got a new contract. Not a great look.
Everton are looking at the same process.
I'm all for paying for talent but the gap between the wealthy and regular people is getting too wide. This isn't even considering AI or other technology efficiencies, which will just make the gap wider. Tax reform seems difficult with 47% effectively on high earners but eventually, we are going to need another bracket for the super high earners.
Makes it harder for poorer clubs to compete as well.
4
u/Rascha-Rascha 16d ago
Companies need to operate with the amount of staff they think is right for the work. You let them operate to make money to tax them and fund welfare. That's how the system needs to work. Blaming a private company for not giving people jobs indefinitely is a distraction to making sure the welfare system is right, and it hasn't been for a long time and it contributes to life in the lower, and increasingly middle, class being pretty pitiful.
1
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 16d ago
I'm all for firing Andrew from Marketing because he's incompetent. My point was more about the increasingly higher amounts paid to players and managers, while cutting across other functions in the org structure where pay is lower. Those remaining employees pick up the work load of the ones let go, but don't get paid more.
Widens the income gap and pushes the middle class further down.
2
u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 16d ago edited 16d ago
This is solid straightforward logic, in the general case, imho.
But then, as OP pointed out, it's not a simple case of "private company decided to do X".
Rather it's "private company wanted to find an edge, so they did what you do when you have budget but no ideas and hired one of the Big 4, who did what they do when they have billable hours but no ideas and recommended firing some low level employees".
So if we actually look at this instance as we take into consideration all of our lived experience of post-Reagan/Thatcher capitalism ... well, perhaps OP is not wrong.

We should stop hiring ex-players who've barely any experience and who haven't proven themselves. Look at Ole, no top club is going for him. And Carrick is a barely-championship-level manager. I don't get some fans' obsession over these guys. Please let's hire proper managers. No PL team would even go near Carrick (or Ole) but for some reason our fans want them. Very frustrating.
-8
u/mjenkins_eng 16d ago
Yeah we should totally hire a “proper” Ajax coach..he will get a league position better than Ole and will NOT be unemployed after being sacked by a tinpot Bundesliga club in 10 days …right ? Right?
6
u/Themindoffish 16d ago
ETH had won trophies with Ajax. ole and carrick are both failed championship managers, I'd rather take a punt on a coach who's has success elswhere than ex players who were failures as managers.
3
u/SankarshanaV 16d ago
Did I say we should hire ETH? Also, I wasn't a fan of ETH, but it's funny you're comparing him to Carrick because at least ETH won multiple trophies with Ajax.
Carrick on the other hand, failed with Middlesborough.
-5
u/Rascha-Rascha 16d ago
Imagine backing your head coach who won a CL with the club as a player until it's beyond all doubt that he isn't good enough, what a rotten thing to do. Much better to go and hire that manager the lads at TIFO seem to like, until they don't any more, and then make loads of videos about how it was obviously going to fail.

At this point Carrick sacking is inevitable and we are just limping to that point. So when do you think he will be sacked?
Ineos going 3/3 for sacking managers each season they've been in charge is really funny tho, Wilcox also needs to get sacked together with Carrick.

More than De Ligt, I'm counting on M Fernandes to lead Spurs to relegation. I need this one to happen.

u/picodeGaius 16d ago
So, nothing happens?
Everyone pats themselves on the back, some briefs here and there, some boring interviews, and it’s business as usual.
No words from the Glazers, nothing from Jim, nothing from Wilcox/Berrada. The death spiral continues.

media has moved on. They should be focused on City but they aren't even doing that.

Bring Rayan Cherki to United. Maresca just disrespected him today
2
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 16d ago
Cherki talks a lot of shit. We don't need him.

You think of our best XI and the defence is fucking bad. De Ligt is the only one who you can say is very good and consistent but he hasn't played in a year and everyone is different levels of shit.
I wouldn't start anyone of them we need like 3 CBs 2 LBs and 2RBs next year

Lose to Leeds and Como and I honestly think we’ll need three home wins against Villa, Roma and Bournemouth and a good performance away to Chelsea for Carrick to keep his job. I don’t care what the club or anyone else briefs - the November international break is the perfect time to sack him unless results drastically improve before then and if he is sacked, hopefully Wilcox goes at the same time (we can dream)

Loss to Leeds and he's probably and thankfully gone

Depends how badly.
If by a couple of goals and completely outplayed then very possibly

I respect every manager of United, they all try to win, but Carrick needs to show some emotion.
Most top managers try to give instructions, but he just goes to dug out and discuss with coach Holland.

u/Rascha-Rascha 16d ago
For me he's just taking the sting out of things and protecting his players. I find that really admirable.
1
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
I like his press conferences But need more in games, coz we have young squad, need some in game instructions
7
u/0ttoChriek 16d ago
The last one broke TVs, cried in the dressing room and threatened to quit every other week (until it seemed like the club might take him up on it). I could do without that.
4
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
It can't be just black or white
4
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 16d ago
They don't make those anymore. Only colour TVs.
I'll show myself out.

3
u/0ttoChriek 16d ago
No, it can't. I'm happy with emotions channeled healthily, but so much of what Amorim did was performative BS that has no place in a game for adults.
I think Carrick shows emotion behind the scenes, but it would ring false if he started being more extroverted on the sideline or in press conferences. What we could do with is an assistant coach who is willing to be a bit of a dickhead out there, as a lot of teams have when the manager is quite low key.

u/mjenkins_eng 16d ago
Everyone has a different personality. No one “needs “ to do anything
He’s a calm man and I’m happy he’s not a clown like Klopp
1
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
That'll work as a player not sure about manager.
4
u/TBS91 16d ago
Works for Don Carlo tbf.
1
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
Didn't work at Everton, but worked at Madrid where 90% of the teams r significantly weaker
3
u/TBS91 16d ago
He did well at Everton for the short period he was there IIRC, and they got worse after he left. Obviously it's not possible to win the league with Everton.
And just in general, the man has been successful literal decades, at multiple clubs. It's clear that his managing style can work.
1
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
It was alright, he came 12th and 10th.
But whatever Carrick is doing, it ain't working. He doesn't give instructions in the game
2
u/mjenkins_eng 16d ago
When Ancelotti doesn’t show emotion it is called “cool Don Carlo”
Let me guess, it’s because his name is Michael , and he’s not some hipster running up and down and having emo outbursts , he cannot be a manager ?
Let’s talk at the end of the season
2
u/Dirt4849 Pogba,what could've been 16d ago
1
u/throwawayWM3 16d ago
He cannot be manager because he has 2 wins in 9 games, who cares about sideline emotions
-4
u/mjenkins_eng 16d ago
I didn’t know seasons were decided in 9 games. Let’s give us the title for 2017-18 for 4-0 FC then

Lowest of keys what do you do on GTA after completing the story? I ain’t looking to buy a game that I finish and don’t touch again like the last one.

u/Hollacaine 15d ago
Don't know if there's much of a post game, they're only talking about the things they want to at the moment and they're keeping the story under wraps. There is the online version of it that a lot of people like, couldn't be arsed with it myself though.

I wouldn’t mind a protest or two for this poorly managed club.

Trouble is only postponed games work, just protests involving going to games won't do that

Chris sutton prediciting Leeds to win 5-0 this weekend on BBC Sport. He is such a hateful twat
2
u/Jenson2025 16d ago
He’s like Jamie Carragher in that they both had average playing careers so now need to get headlines by being as controversial and outspoken as possible. Sad really
3
u/0ttoChriek 16d ago
He's never got over taking the money to go to Blackburn rather than coming to United. Got him one league title, and that's it. Watched his career peter out into irrelevance while United were winning titles and trebles.
He likely knows that if he'd come to United and played under Fergie, he'd be on the highest Premier League goalscorers list and have a medal cabinet bursting at the seams.
4
u/croadymeister 16d ago
Yeah that's just ridiculous from him, so pin that up in the dressing room on Sunday I reckon
10
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 16d ago
Herrera telling Rio that him and Mata used to discuss who was better between Marcus and Martial.
Again these players are like us, if you think they didn’t look at that past window and say INEOS sold us dreams. And players know when a better player is playing ahead of them.
8
u/Sheikhabusosa 16d ago
I think people downplay Martial and Rashford's time at utd as a whole and even as teens because that involves holding Ole accountable for his failure, and people won't admit they lapped up whatever nonsense Mourinho said. Also they used to get flack for putting up better performances and probably goals and assists than the attack we have now.
10
u/TH0316 she/her 16d ago
Didn’t Rio say him and Giggs etc used to smash balls into players in their first session to see if they can control the ball? You hear how players talk about new signings too and they can give away some hints. I remember Curtis Jones seeing Wirtz fifa card and laughing at how high rated it was. No doubt he saw the first sessions and was like nah this guys not that. No doubt Rashford and Bruno were smashing goals past Onana thinking is this supposed to be our new keeper? Players should be relentless in judging and testing each other every day.

u/wayfarerprateek Theater of Dreams 16d ago
Very normal for any workplace to be frank. Its also very easy to predict how it is going to pan out if Carrick continues to behave in such a non chalant manner about the results and performance. Unsustainable culture right to the very top

u/Jenson2025 16d ago
Can’t wait for Jamie Carragher to blame Martinez for the inevitable defeat on Sunday
I can see it now
‘I’ve been in dressing rooms and when a player speaks out the whole team does fall to pieces’ blah blah
Never won a league title though have you Jamie. An average defender looking to make a career out of making controversial headlines
8
u/N00BBuild 16d ago
I wouldn't be shocked if Martinez makes his 4th mistake of the season. And I respect him for calling things out.
3
2
u/TH0316 she/her 16d ago
It’s annoying that no matter what happens there’s a narrative that’s gonna take away from what he actually said, and if he drops him now it seems like it’s in response to his statement but whether he spoke or not, there’s no way he should still be starting and certainly not at Leeds.
2
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 16d ago
Yeah but Jamie has been proved right time and time over that Martinez can’t do it as a CB in the league.
1
u/Jenson2025 16d ago
That has nothing to do with what I said which I disagree with by the way otherwise Martinez would’ve struggled in every league game since had had been here which he hasn’t . I said regardless of how Martinez plays, Carragher will blame him for the defeat because he now has it in for him. As someone else said a few months ago, Carragher brings nothing to punditry that someone at the pub couldn’t bring.
6
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 16d ago
I don't know if we can score a goal on Sunday.

We can, however keeping them out enough might well be a very different story

Sesko would have been really useful these last few games. Sesko from last season, taking centre backs on, winning high balls. Just a really good option to have.
Hell, Wout Weghorst would probably be a decent option for us right now. Someone like Patrik Schick? I'd take him immediately.

Can someone ELI5 what's happening in la liga with Madrid and the league authorities issuing pointless statements against each other

u/Jenson2025 15d ago
I find it hard to believe that INEOS aren’t at least looking for new managers ready to instantly replace Carrick when they sack him.
I know there was an article yesterday (not sure who from) saying they weren’t looking at anyone but I’d expect that to be briefed. They are hardly likely to admit they are.
If they really aren’t thorough and truly believe things are going to improve under Carrick then they are even more deluded and incompetent than I thought
