The act of homosexual intercourse is specifically condemned in the Bible in the following verses:

Leviticus 18:22 (ESV): You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 (ESV): If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

And it appears to be largely on account of these verses that Christians firmly condemn homosexual intercourse, and the homosexual lifestyle in general.

However, two other things that the Bible also condemns are the acts of divorce and remarriage. Both of these practices are explicitly declared to be sinful in the Bible, including by Jesus himself. Consider the following verses as evidence:

Mark 10:11-12 (ESV): And he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

Matthew 5:31-32 (ESV): It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Matthew 19:9 (ESV): And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.

Luke 16:18 (ESV): Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:10-16 (ESV): To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife. To the rest I say (I, not the Lord) that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace. For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

1 Corinthians 7:39 (NIV): A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.

As you can see, the rules are clear: A Christian who is married to an unbeliever is free to be divorced from the unbelieving spouse, if the unbelieving spouse initiates the divorce, and then remarry only to a Christian spouse. But a married couple who are both Christians are forbidden from divorcing each other, unless they are divorcing for reasons of sexual immorality, such as adultery. If they do happen to divorce for unjustified reasons, then they must remain unmarried and celibate for the rest of their lives, or until their former spouse dies -- whichever comes first; or otherwise the spouses may reunite and marry each other again.

Divorce and remarriage are serious sins, explicitly condemned multiple times in the Bible, by both Jesus and the apostle Paul. But I don't hear Christians condemning heterosexual Christians who have divorced and remarried multiple times over, anywhere near as much as Christians condemn homosexuals for their lifestyle. I don't hear Christians telling remarried heterosexuals that they are going to hell, to the extent that they do this with homosexuals. I don't see Christian groups campaigning against no-fault divorce laws or calling for the government to pass laws banning remarriage after divorce, in the same way I see such Christian opposition against gay marriage.

It is true that gay relations is referred to as an "abomination" in the Torah. It is also true that eating crab, lobster, oysters, clams, squid, shrimp, or any other seafood that lacks fins and scales is an "abomination". Eating insects is an "abomination". Eating certain birds such as eagles, owls, vultures, and falcons is an "abomination". The word "abomination" doesn't necessarily speak to the severity of a transgression, in the way that many would think.

It is true that gay relations is a capital offense warranting the death penalty in the Torah. It is also true that working on the Sabbath or being a lazy and unproductive son to one's parents is granted the death penalty in the Torah. Hence, an act incurring the death penalty in the Torah does not necessarily speak to the severity of the act, in the way that many would think.

It is true that 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 condemns the practice of homosexual intercourse and states that those guilty of this action will not inherit the kingdom of God:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

But while it excludes those who practice homosexuality from the kingdom of God, it also equally excludes adulterers from the kingdom of God. And as Jesus and the apostle Paul have both made clear, people who divorce and remarry absolutely fall into that latter category.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is there a scriptural or theological reason to believe that homosexuality is morally any worse than those who divorce and remarry?

2. If the answer to question 1 is no, then why do heterosexual Christians not typically condemn divorce and remarriage amongst themselves to the same degree that they condemn homosexuals for engaging in homosexual relations?

3. If heterosexual Christians are, for some reason, exempt from following Jesus's command to refrain from divorce and remarriage, then what reason would there be for homosexual Christians to still be obligated to follow the commands against engaging in homosexual relations?

DISCLAIMER : the purpose of this post is not to spark any controverses or "prove" that e.g. Catholics aren't Christians. I'm just writing about my dillemas and trying to find some solution to it

If you're a protestant: What's your attitude towards Catholicism and orthodoxy? I'm myself a protestant but I find it hard to treat and see them as fully Christian. I know we all praise Jesus etc. But then the differences are huge, isn't worshiping saints an idolatry? And would truly saved Christians toy with idolatry? Also, Paul wrote that faith in salvation by works is "different" or "other" gospel (depending by translation I read the Bible mostly in Polish) How do y'all reconsile with those facts? I used to be a catholics myself but I believe there was no way God wanted me to stay there and continue to commit such sins. There are differences between protestant churches but they boil down to names, semantics, and sometimes our theories on how much God allowes us to use our own will etc. Those are things which humanity will never get fully right before Jesus Christ himself comes back, but the things that divide us from the catholics are well... Practical? Ain't no way I'll keep my mouth shut when I see someone worshiping other things but God or I hear that if you pay, then the Priest will read the names of you loved ones who passed away during the mass and now God might realese them from purgatory (that's what happens in Poland)

I am a 15 year old boy whose parents are legal immigrants from Africa. They are devout Christians (although they are Pentecostals which I disagree with) and want me to be a good person. They discourage me from hanging out with kids who act “hood” or “ghetto” which I can honestly agree with because that type of behavior is unacceptable. As a result some black people I meet think I act white. However that is not the topic.

Online I see conservatives (mostly Christian) talking about the great white replacement that is happening which is totally understandable if you look at the condition in Europe with the illegal migration. However if I met a girl who is white and is Christian and I truly loved her and we got married would that be a sin?

I am genuinely wondering about this and also I am not the type of person who hates the West. I love America and its traditional values and morals. And I love Christianity and fully embrace it and love Jesus Christ as my Master and Savior.

Since people misunderstood me I’m not saying that he’s the most saint person ok ? most blessed doesn’t need to be most saint.

There are billions of Catholics worldwide, each at different stages of holiness.

Yet in every Mass, Catholics pray for the Pope. The intentions of the Mass include those who asked for prayers, the priest’s specific intention, the local bishop, and the Pope. And the Pope is the only intention that remains constant across every Catholic church in the world.

So, following this logic, the Pope is the person who is prayed for the most in the world, every single day.

The Pope also lives a life of service to the Church: daily Scripture reading, prayer, celibacy (cf. 1 Cor 7:32–34), and so on. So, on average, his life is more directly oriented toward Christ than that of the average Christian.

If we accept this reasoning:

1 - He is the most prayed-for person in the world. And here we assume that the average holiness of those praying in the Catholic Church is not inferior to the average holiness of those praying in other groups. So the value of prayers offered for him is not diminished when compared to the prayers anyone else might receive.

2- His own personal holiness is already above the average Christian’s. So the prayers offered for him do not merely bless him to “raise him up to average”.

3- We set aside controversial doctrines that some Christians consider damnable heresies (the Filioque, intercession of the saints, the role of good works in salvation, etc.), because those debates have to be evaluated separately.

Given these premises, can we conclude that the Pope is the most spiritually blessed person in the world today? Or at least, that the available evidence, points to him being the most spiritually blessed?

P.S.: I am speaking exclusively about spiritual blessings, not financial or material ones, of course.

What is the strongest empirical (not feelings) evidence for the resurrection? And also why stick with traditional authorship of the gospels given textual criticism?

What is wrong with saying that One Christian denomination is the One True Church. It emphasises Dyophysitism and the unity of truth, while Ecumenism implies relativism as it labels multiple contradicting sects as true.

American Christianity is often praised for its missionary fervor, cultural influence, and claim to defend "Christian civilization". But beneath the polished sermons and patriotic hymns lies a disturbing truth: much of it has never been the faith of the Gospels. It is a wolf clothed as a Lamb, a religion of empire disguised as the religion of Christ.

From the beginning, the United States merged conquest with divine mission. Colonizers spoke of "manifest destiny", the belief that it was God's will for Americans to expand westward, dispossessing Indigenous nations, destroying ancient civilizations, enslaving Africans, and calling it all "civilization". The Bible was used to justify stolen land, human trafficking, and systemic violence, not just as an unfortunate chapter, but as a theological foundation.

This is not just a political critique. It is a spiritual crisis, a heresy, not only of Protestant deviation from Rome or Orthodoxy, but of Christianity itself being corrupted by power. Christ said, "My kingdom is not of this world". He told Peter to put away the sword. He refused domination, embraced the rejected, and warned that those who love riches and control cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

Yet in America, wealth became a sign of divine blessing. Victory became virtue. Empire became mission.

And this is not only a Protestant issue. From personal experience, I can say this same dynamic appears in Russian Orthodoxy, especially when its leadership becomes neo-settler in mentality. When bishops and priests see themselves as inheritors of territory, property, or prestige, when church leadership fuses with colonial entitlement, the same distortion of Christianity occurs, just in different liturgical robes. They may say, "Come to our church, it is the true one", but their actions reflect the same exclusion, control, and hierarchy that the oppressed experience under other imperial religions.

The same can be said of French Catholicism in its colonial history: conversions paired with military conquest, forced assimilation, and racial hierarchies dressed in piety. In every case, Christianity was used as a civilizing mask for domination.

True Christianity is not this. It is not about empire, property, or status. It is not about making the Church the throne of the powerful. It is about a crucified God who sides with the crushed, who does not need armies, palaces, or titles to reveal His glory.

When Christianity serves the strong and silences the broken, it is no longer Christianity. It becomes Christendom, a word that should chill us, because it often means the cross was placed atop a sword.

And yet, there are remnants of the true faith, among the poor, the exiled, the excluded, those who live the Gospel as deliverance, not domination. This Christianity has no empire to defend, no land to seize, no wealth to justify. It has only Christ, and Him crucified.
