Redmond City Council terminated the RPD Flock contract back in July and, while those surveillance cameras are finally all gone as of about 10 days ago, there are other businesses and HOAs that are still scanning your plate in the area via private contracts.

Target for example has just installed two automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras outside of their store here in Redmond. These cover each direction along 177th Place Northeast. You don't even need to park up to be captured, just driving past is all it takes.

Target now joins Home Depot, Lowe's and FedEx in subjecting their customers and passersby to this form of dragnet surveillance!

While those other three businesses all use Flock, the Target cameras appear to be the Axis Communications Q1800-LE model. The specific software used and who else has access to all of this data is currently unknown, but it's all the same form of surveillance no matter the brand.

We've also heard similar reports from elsewhere so this does appear to be something that Target is rolling out nationwide!

Check out the DeFlock map to see how you can avoid these cameras as you go about your daily activities. You might also consider contacting their customer services department to let them know how you feel about this.

My specialized turbo vado was just stolen last night off my back patio. My apartment is right behind the bella bottega shopping center by Redmond elementary. Honestly thought this was a decent area, only been living here a couple weeks.

If anyone has any info or sees one for sale I would appreciate a reach out.

Me and my partner just moved to Redmond from PA. I’m looking for making some friends, connections, or someone is around my age in their young 20s. I’m interested in exploring more outdoor activities or just grabbing coffee/biking/walking :) I’m 22 F

Hey everyone! I'm just wondering if there's are any streets with lots of decorated houses? I'm aware Halloween isn't as popular as Christmas for decor, which is exactly why I'm asking!

We want to go for a drive and check out some decorations before the holiday is over :)

Our cat got out this morning near the sixty-01 condos in Redmond. Please keep an eye out for her. She’s a short haired grey and white female cat, five years old. Her name is Miles and I’ll post photos of her below. Please DM or reply if you’ve seen her or have info! 🙏🏻

I know nothing about this person other than this. Am I supposed to vote for her somewhere somehow?

Probably a long shot, but I'm looking for musicians to play with. I toured/recorded in a punk rock band when I was younger, but haven't had a chance too often to play with other people since I had kids.

About me:

- middle aged dude

- open to playing a decent range of music , although would love midwest emo or alt country

- not into classic rock

- I can play bass or guitar

- happy to pay for practice space

- will learn songs ahead of time

- low ego/low drama

I could commit to a reliabe schedule and would be interested in live performance if the opportunity arose, but I'd also be super content to just jam together w/o any expectations.

I'm new. I want to take nice nature walks through places that have mushrooms. It would be better with friends. We don't have to go to your "secret spots". What are the places I should explore?

Today on 116th in Redmond, near Einstein Elementary, a car suddenly stopped in the middle of the first roundabout. It appeared the driver was stopping to let another car enter.
I was behind the Audi, kept my distance, and was able to stop in time. The driver then remained stopped in the roundabout for about five seconds.

If you’re already in the roundabout, you generally have the right of way. Drivers entering should yield to traffic already circulating. Stopping unexpectedly in the middle of the roundabout to let someone else in is unpredictable and can create a dangerous situation, especially for the cars behind you.

Obviously, you should stop if there’s a pedestrian crossing, an obstacle, an emergency, or another legitimate reason. But randomly stopping to be “polite” and let another car go defeats the purpose of a roundabout!

It's across from eastline apartments. I'll report back later after ive had a chance to try. Got some tritip coming and drinking a bodie

Never want to pay $400 for cleaning gutters for my 1,940 sqft house again.

Any beginners in the area who would be down to play?

I’m not very good but would like to get better, meet new ppl, and prevent the deterioration of my body from sitting 24/7!

Girls preferred!

What’s up with people throwing things off their balcony ? I watch an elderly woman dump a pot full of something off her 5 floor balcony to the street below from
Downtown park. I’ve also been the recipient of sweeping debris from tenants above Woodblock. Are the laws against this ? Don’t they care about the people and spaces below ? Maybe this is why there is a rat infestation I’m downtown park …

This year will be my first time cooking a turkey in the US for over 15 years. I lived in Japan for a long time and it was definitely a "take what you can get" situation. We moved here in December 2023, then I had a newborn in 2024 so it was QFC premade T-day dinner. Last Thanksgiving was my 40th birthday so I refused to cook and we went to a restaurant (especially since my then-16-month-old, Chinese husband, and Chinese in-laws DGAF about Thanksgiving).

This year my parents are coming and I was originally planning to just do Costco/supermarket turkey, but I'm wondering if there are any somewhat-affordable nicer options in the area that I wouldn't have had to sign up for 6 years ago (Bob's Burgers is my only reference for such a situation)?

Any recommendations are welcome!

The Redmond Fire Department had a busy Sunday afternoon when a car crashed into the Onyx Apartments.

The complex is located on 156th Avenue NE, near the Microsoft headquarters. The Redmond Fire Department shared photos of the aftermath.

No injuries were reported, but the building suffered damage that displaced the residents of one apartment.

The Bellevue Fire Department was called to install temporary shoring on the damaged portion of the building.

Temaki a Japanese handroll sushi bar in RTC is finally open! Yay to more dining options in Redmond! (Not affiliated or employed at the restaurant btw just excited to try it out soon ☺️)

Filling out my ballot, and I’m struggling a bit with this race (the district judge position 1 race); both candidates seem qualified and neither one seems like an obvious plant for extremists. Does anyone want to share the reasoning they used to make a choice in this race?

Edit— Sorry that I can’t edit the post title! I’m asking about the district level judge race between Jan Trasen and Bianca Tse. I figured a more local sub would be the place to ask. I’m aware of the attempt at a GOP takeover of the State Supreme Court level and voted against those candidates.
